(2) ‘Pokemon Smash’ Announcing a New Game, New Movie 15th Poster: Two Kyurem Formes, Meloetta Reveal

Bring back Zapmolcuno and remake Red and Blue again! The better game. I want to play as Red more!

But yeah, I hope they don't rely on fusions to fill in legendary spaces. They already seemed to be running out of idea's.

They seemed to be running out of ideas?

Good point /sarcasm

They're just as creative and original (if not more) than any past legendaries.

I would go so far as to argue it's the opposite:

They always come up with something interesting even after 15 years and 500 pokemon.

I honestly hope that people would stop complaining. They could just stop making them. Then there wouldn't be any complaints! Anyways, I'm actually really pumped for these legendaries as this hasn't been done in Pokémon before.

Here's some food for thought: There's going to be a promotion going on in the Kyushu region of Japan about how Kyushu and Hoenn are similar. You will able to get 9 Hoenn pokemon throughout the promotion. Also, in the Pokemon Center in Fukouka, you can receive a level 80 Kyorge or Groudon. Now I'm not sure about the whole idea of visiting Hoenn in BW2, but it is interesting that they announced these promotions now.

Indeed. Even though everyone doubts it, I think there might be a chance of getting Hoenn in these games, and end up skipping the possibility of not received well (commercially) remakes. By making two third versions, they can kill two birds with one stone and get it all done at once.

Well they did Kanto and Johto before, now Hoenn and then Sinnoh one would assume.
If anything this makes RS remakes less probable as its no big deal or anything.

Maybe the other pokemon from last gen will have a bigger role like genesect melotta and otand have different in game events. hope its a direct sequel too.

So I've read a whole lot of the comments posted here and talked to a lot of my friends about this, and here's my response.

My first reaction was confusion and disappointment. 1) There's the fusion-type forms- yuck! 2) Black and White get their own sequels? Huh?

As far as the forms go, I was disappointed that they just look like they smushed Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem together. Fusion Pokemon? That's not something I've ever wanted out of a Pokemon game. Then, my brother told me something that made me think this might actually be kind of cool. Apparently the three dragons used to be one Pokemon, and when Reshiram and Zekrom split off, Kyurem is the shell that was left over. This makes it actually kind of cool to have these forms, and less like they copped out by just fusing them together for the lolz.

Then there's the fact that this is a sequel to an already existing version. As a player of nearly all of the Pokemon games that have come out (blue, silver, sapphire, fire red, soul silver, diamond, platinum, and white) this is simply not something I have ever desired out of a Pokemon game. Why would I want a sequel to a Pokemon game? For the story? No one plays Pokemon games for the story. Sure, Black and White arguably has the best storyline out of the Pokemon games, but who wanted a sequel? The worst part is I feel like this means that Nintendo is denying us a third version of the game, for the first time in this franchise's history. To quote my brother-

The bigger issue here is that Nintendo normally makes money from the third game in the generation (I.E. Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum) because you can catch all the pokemon on one cart which gets new buyers and also people looking to replay the game. Having two sequels...? This is uncharted territory.

In my opinion, it really doesn't make sense for Nintendo to make a sequel for a Pokemon game. When I think of what I want in terms of a Pokemon fan and player, I think (and I know this has been kind of beat to death) a Sapphire/Ruby remake, a "Grey" version, new evolutions for the old Pokemon (why not give non-evolving Pokemon stage 1 forms again, such as Mawhile, Sableye, or even Dunsparce? Also giving Pokemon that only evolve once a stage two form, ie. Weezing --> Hacking? ), of course, the missing forms of Eevee, and lastly, a Pokemon game exclusively for the 3DS. Never have I even remotely wanted a sequel to a Pokemon game.

I kind of understand this decision on Nintendo's part, since they can't just keep making new Pokemon games like this forever. How many different regions can one Pokeworld have? But I wasn't thinking they would drag it out by making sequels. I was thinking they'd go to different Pokemon planets, maybe? Maybe make two regions available in one game, while adding new evolution possibilities.

In conclusion of my long-winded post, I'm not saying I won't buy Pokemon Black/White 2, but as of this moment, I'm not excited about it.

To be fair, that's not entirely true. Sure, you get access to both of a legendary duo, but there are few examples of version exclusivity.

Ruby had Zangoose and Solrock. Sapphire had Seviper and Lunatone. Emerald mashed it with Seviper and Lunatone, I believe.

Diamond had Skunky, Pearl had Glameow, Platinum had neither, I think.

Apparently the three dragons used to be one Pokemon, and when Reshiram and Zekrom split off, Kyurem is the shell that was left over.
Kyurem has no direct connection to Zekrom and Reshiram that we know of. All we know about Kyurem is that it arrived to earth on an icy meteor.

Once again, I offer that Kyurem interlopes in some point of the story..

If hes from outer space... does that mean he has no significance in Unova's legends? (Unless you count its influence on Lacunosa town)

Why is everyone complaining about the fusions? Pokemon makes two new forms of a existing Pokemon that is two Pokemon fused, and everyone assumes that there will be "Pokemon fusions" in games to come.

Having played BW, it explains that Zekrom and Reshiram were once the same being. So yeah, there is no reason to think they're just being silly and randomly smack things together all of a sudden, as it's not the case, especially now with these formes revealed.

If you ever took a good look at Kyurem, it's easy to notice they had big plans for it from the beginning. The interesting part about that is that we don't know what would happen. And even now, when weve seen that it gets 2 formes, related to the other 2 Dragons, we still don't know how it fits together. I find this to be a very smart move to be honest. Gamefreak has a habbit of making surprises just when everyone thinks they know what will come next, and then do it in a way it all fits together nicely too.

They're not denying you the third version, they're trying to improve the concept. Instead of minor upgrades in a third version there will be 2 games with noteworthy changes for the first time.

These are the "third" version by all means, except a bigger approach.
Anything they would have done with Grey will be executed through BW2.
I am merely guessing here, but they probably have at least some reasons why they split it into 2. Maybe they came up with 2 ways of completing the story properly or who knows. Just wait, we have like no information at all right now.

As this is not a new generation game, there obviously wouldn't be more evolutions. That's what gen 4 was all about, and some people hated it for that.
Every other generation is a fresh start with lots of really new pokes, while the generations inbetween seem to add extra, exotic, rare pokes, evolutions etc.

As for Eevee in particular... there is no such thing as "missing forms".
Eevee is the concept of a cute pet-like seemingly regular pokemon, with the twist that it undergoes a complete overhaul when exposed to sources of elemental energy. Like minerals of Fire, Ice etc, or Light/Darkness coupled with happiness.
Do you see why they don't make the other types?
Being exposed to some insect rock or whatever, making it change into a Bug... or a Dragon? a Ghost??... it's not what Eeveelution is about.
They've pretty much done what makes sense, maybe a Ground one would work, but most of the rest just feel awkward.

BW2 are not going to affect how the franchise grows. Of course throwing hundreds of pokemon every year at us would be too much, and Im sure the quality would suffer a lot, so while we wait and get used to the current new pack, they might as well give us third versions and remakes in the meantime. It's clever.
I read in interviews they throw away like thousand finished pokemon concepts every generation, keeping only the more interesting ones, and if you go look at each pokemon they make, it's pretty rare to find one that seems like it was just a random idea someone pulled out of their ass, especially when you check out what they're based on (in some cases your mind gets blown away when you find out, like the legend about the cursed mirror that they based Bronzor on)

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll resume making more actually new ones sooner or later.
And with BW they've proven that new pokemon never get old. Because with BW they specifically tried to mimic Red/Green, by using some of the same concepts which resulted in completely different and fresh designs anyway!

For anyone who thinks that "they will run out of ideas after xyz", you have no idea how much variety there is in real nature. There is billions of species out there, and then pokemon aren't just limited to those, but combinations of them, AND they can be based on cultural references and traditions, mythological creatures, or heck even different kinds of martial arts.
There is no better proof of the limit being human imagination than the huge amount of "fakemon artists", like myself btw, who still manage to make hundreds of fakemon with original designs.

Sorry if the reply got long xD
I just felt like I wanna make a more detailed response like this right now :B

Sounds familiar. I remember people replying to me in that manner 6 years ago.
"Giratina has no relation to Palkia and Dialga let alone Arceus. Its just an extra legendary in the fourth hidden lake like Heatran etc"
Yet somehow I was able to figure out that it was completely related from day 1 of DP release. Maybe I'm freaking psychic!!1... No.

Yeah, real original.
There's tradition in Pokemon games, like 3 elemental legends or at least one beefy 2 stage evolution. Some of the newer designs do look pretty good, but there is that and then there is downright copying.

I said that they intentionally reuse common concepts, myself.
My point was that even though they DO RE-USE concepts, the designs still look unique and fresh.
Why is it so unoriginal to make another butterfly? There's hundreds of shapes of butterflies, why would there just be Butterfrees on the whole planet?
When they reuse concepts, they make sure they execute it in a different way too, so I don't get your point.

I seriously don't know what kind of originality you are requesting of these people.

By "They already seemed to be running out of idea's." are you implying that the amount of originality is decreasing with time?

At first I thought Gen 5 = Gen 1 + Digimon - anything good about either. Now I realize that Gen 5 = Gen 1 + Digimon + Fusion HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA - anything good about the three. Plus, it doesn't even make sense. I mean, DBZ explicitly stated that power levels had to be exactly equal for Fusion Ha, yet Kyurem's BST is 660 while Reshiram and Zekrom have a BST of 680. Really Gamefreak? Really? REALLY?
