(2) Platinum's English Release Date, Next TCG Set Name [12/9]

Well. Means Europe can look forward to getting that set and the game somewhere around August -.-

The sets always come around the same time in Europe as in the US.
And the Official Nintendo Magazine said that the European release date would be in July.

... Why would it be in August, anyways? D/P came in July when it came to the US in April.. o_O

Dude thats the power of Japan! Also there's this thing called "translation," which actually takes quite a while to do.

There's really not much of an excuse for the localization anymore, unless you're a smaller company like Atlus. Look at recent games like Chrono Trigger, Castlevania Judgment, and Animal Crossing: City Folk. Those games either came out before their Japanese counterparts, or in the case of Chrono, the day after. All localization can be done ahead of time now, even by the Japanese themselves, much like with the release of Dragon Quest IV in Japan. The game's Japanese release had the entire english version in it, and localization was already done for the US.

In the case of Pokemon, if not for localization, the gap between releases is likely caused by the renaming and setting up marketing strategies for the game. They really should not be using months for the translation anymore.

You can't really count Crono...it's been out a very long time, they have already had translation and coding for it since it came out on the SNES/SFAM, even though this is just a re-release on a differnt platform, the original translations and coding are still there to just transfer over and code to the DS platform, which really doesn't take much to do. DQIV is much in the same category, as it was released on the NES, under the title of Dragon Warrior IV, being that was the american name for the DQ series when it was on the NES.

Maybe they'll be releasing the DsI at the same time? Didn't they say it was coming out in the Spring of 2009?

After I saw the DSi doesn't support backwards compatibility, I decided the DSi can wait, there were some other changes I wasn't really impressed with, but that was the main one...not being able to transfer your Pokemon from previous games kinda sux, that was one of the reasons why I got a DS and DP

Well I didn't get to see the add:( but I'm glad we're finally going to get the game I want Giratina origin frome and as or the cards I don't care that much(I ill if they have Flygon Lv.X in the next set).

Well the problem with Platnium coming out then, is that it will be overshadowed by the new Dsi. Sure, a Platnium DS would be cool, but in America's crappy ecomony, who would buy it when you could get a whole new Dsi? I agree with "Looker" being perverted, I actually like the name Charon, and Torn World is a much cooler name than "Distortion World".

Wasn't the DSi set to come out AFTER spring in the US? March =/= after spring.
And maybe they'll make bundles, if they manage to release the DSi around that time (which I'm quite sure they're capable of doing, since it's supposed to come to Europe during spring).

March 22nd sounds like a good date to me. 1month earlier than the release of D/P. I guess we can expect some news on Shaymin and Regigigas very soon. The question is though, as Regigigas was an event for when you pre-ordered tickets to see the 11th movie, will a similar thing be done excepct with Platinum?

I'm guessing that it would be similar as the GameStop Deoxys. This Deoxys was also released when Dialga vs Palkia vs Darkrai (Japanese name for The Rise of Darkrai) was on movie theaters.

Charon and Looker.... ugh. Their Japanese names were so much better. As of Distorsion World, it sounds cooler than Torn/Ruined World. :cool:

EDIT: I just realized that it's the Origin Forme the one in the cover. :D

Hold up here... has anyone thought of trading the Giratina from the Japanese Platinum to either Diamond, or Pearl. You know the place still might be called the "Torn World".

You know that "Looker" Is just his codename, Handsome was just a codename o.o;

Plus it's just circuit city forgetting when it's supposed to be out, Not PUSA telling them to release the ads o.o;

The names are epic, Charon,Looker and distortion world all sound epic to me.
I wonder what Origin form will be called? Distortion form? Or did they list it as Origin form?

Sweet. Im glad it came out that early. I am mad that they changed "Torn World" I was fine with Pluto, but Charon? Neither of the detectives names are good.

The Platinum release date was probably Circuit City's "goodbye" gift to Pokemon fans.

OK, enough chatter about the video game! I want to know about the Platinum card set! Who will be in it? Will it be our version of Galactic's Conquest or Bonds to End Time or a combo of both?

omg march 22nd? yes! now i know what i want for my birthday on the 28th!

my cousin works at curcuit city. maybe i can see if he knows anything about the game.

i can understand the pluto/charon thing. i actually like charon better. it doesn't sound like a sailor moon character, but i don't like "looker". it makes me think of a peeping tom or something. :/
and i like distortion world better than ruined world. but i like torn world best out of all of them.
is torn world the japanese name? if so, where did ruined world come from (unless that was a English beta name or something)?

yes for a new set. i'm really angry at myself for not going to the stormfront pre-release. i didn't go because my friend didn't want to go and i didn't want to go by myself, but i'll go to the next one-whether i have to go alone or not!

It will probably contain the rest of the cards from the earlier Japanese sets. You know, the ones that they haven't released in other parts of the world? Oh, and perhaps some Japanese-only promos.

Tadaaa:
FR/LG-set -> Team Rocket-set
Plat-set -> Galactic-set

Here is my prediction for the UK release date; UK and US release dates of D/P were 3 months and 5 days apart... So uhm... -Gets his thinking cap on-

March 22nd + 3 months, 5 days = June 27th

Yep, so there we have it. 1 month earlier.

And to WPM; From your 2nd podcast, I have something to say:

BRITISH PEEPS ARE NOT EVIL! >:3
