#2 World Peace: Possible or Just a Dream?

It is very hard to get everyone to have a mentality of "work for the greater good of the world, including humanity and nature". We'd be a doomed utopia with everyone aiming to please each other.
 
World peace is never going to be possible. I know I sound very pesstimistic but look at it.

Wars are always going to happen because of various causes. Peace around the world?
I like the idea but is it an achievable, realistic goal?
 
This is impossible, unless we go to wars with those nations that are keeping us from peace. So that would be fighting for peace. You can't make evereyone happy.
 
I believe that world peace will never happen. I think that it won't stop because other countries (US) have to butt into other countries' business (Iraq). Even if the countries did get along we would have individuals still thinking that they are better than others... which will cause more fighting. Like lets say a greedy Oprah (which hopefully there isn't) goes up to a homeless guy and says, "Haha, why are you living in that box when everyone should have a mansion like me". There are other reasons. Like the economy. There are pirates in Somalia taking ahold of the United State's ships and taking the captains hostage and demanding a million dollars. If somehow there is world peace. It definitly won't happen this generation, next generation, or even the next generation after that. If it does happen sometime soon. That would be great. ^_^
 
uhm i believe it could be possible.not truly possible but if the government ever brainwashed people to believe everything is okay. which is all to possible.
the media would have to be destroyed ad alot of people would have to be in some kind of mail/internet blocking stuff thousands of things would be banded or destroyed from memory.
read the book fahrenheit 451 and ull see some ideas of how this caould be possible world peace is not the issue of the book the author focused mainly on brainwashing of people strating off basic things dumbing people down.
 
Well the answer to the question is impossible, someone will always try to cause a war. Unfortunately it is human nature to destroy everything. First it will be nations then religions then finally themselves.

Although my friend believes he can become the next person to save the world from corruption. What I say to him is 'Good luck with that'
 
What people don't understand is that in a way we have alreaddy acheived this.

If what everyone else thinks of as world peice acured, in 5k years when no-one remembers what it was like before, they would want it to be even more peice-full.

Basicly, for everyone who thinks this world is sooooo violent, imagine if a greeting like a hug became a kick to the nuts or a punch to the brests, and then they would think of what we have now as world peice.
 
yes but world peace is the whole world living in harmony, which we are certainly nowhere near.

Someone can always see a fault in another: Colour, religion, Belief, Age, sex and so on.
 
World peace is not possible. As long as there is good, evil will follow. Peace beckons to chaos. There is only peace when every living organism on planet Earth dies.

No, no. World peace is possible, if everyone believes and works towards the common goal. As for the "bad people" of the world today; almost everyone in jail knows the difference between right and wrong, yet they choose to do wrong. Therefore, if they wanted to, they could do right. If they wanted to.
 
There will be World Piece. Evil will be destroyed, and we will be happy.

But, in order for there to be happiness, there must be evil. Water will turn into blood, grasshoppers will be the size of Horses. This will be the time of danger. It will last for 7 years.

Good news: After those 7 years, the world gets destroyed and all the good people get to come back to new earth and live in a world without sorrow.

But how do we decide Who is "evil?"
Wouldn't judging others ourselves be evil?
 
It all depends on your personal definition of evil. One of my most common ideas of evil is killing, enjoying and making others suffer pain, and spitting on puppies. Sometimes I also think evil and fear are friends that are misunderstood, sometimes.

Judging others is considered evil by a lot of people.
 
Impossible without help from an outside force (like God.). There will always be someone who takes advantage of others, and takes over.

so im going to reiterate what i said earlier.
world peace is possible.explanation;
If the government made a way to censor the internet and media which is possible maybe even now or in the near future the government could brainwash a majority of the country into believing everything is okay and then using advanced military technology to cover up any would be wars or unpeacful altercations.if there was no reason to hurt someone then people wouldnt do it.
plus we would need advanced medical technology to turn fatal wounds into scraping your knee on the concrete. if you couldnt hurt someone bad enough to permanently effect them people wouldnt do it.so in summary, if we were all brainwashed and pain wasnt a big deal "world peace" would be achieved.

The thing is, the government is greedy and somewhat corrupted, so this will never work.
