News 20th Anniversary Set in September + Surfing Pikachu and M Slowbro-EX!

This thing doesn't make me surprise. Thanks to spoilers! At least this is pretty legit

Hopefully this means a good dugtrio on the way, that way I can play and repeatedly say "diglett dig diglett dig trio trio trio" under my breath and make my opponent feel uncomfortable.

actually i think that would still work.

All of the retreat cost additions to these old cards that didn't originally have them really bothers me, do they really think a 40HP basic with free retreat would warp the metagame?

Isn't the idea of a reprint to reprint a classic card?
Surely it'd be better like this

Diglett – Fighting – HP 40
Basic Pokemon

[F] Dig Under: This attack does 20 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.)

[F][C] Mud Slap: 30 damage.

Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: None
Retreat: None

Honestly, I'm just wondering why the hell they removed the Lightning resistance for Ground-type Pokémon...

I love how diglett has lost the resistance but gained enough weight to earn a star on his retreat cost XD

I guess they did this in particular because diglett would be like an unsnipable hawlucha for fighting decks. you can have it in every fighting deck as a mon that switches in after knockouts to give flexibility and it has to be lysandred to get knocked out which is a lot of effort to kill a basic non-EX that isnt a threat. idk.. its not groundbreaking (haha) but it could be a fighting staple.. i guess his attack is kinda useless though unlike hawlucha. i dont personally agree w/ it but thats the only reason i can think of

You know, even though they have been changing the heck out of some pokemon to the point that they're not recognizable, I'll take it anyways if it means having interesting unevolved pokemon again. I just wish they wouldn't nerf all these retreat costs.

This Diglett as a standalone card is pretty cool and I find his design more flavorful for a tunneling pokemon than the actual base set Diglett. This is probably their way of correcting one of the design problems of the older sets. The problem being that many pokemon have overlap in functionality (almost all are just plain attackers) where a few simply outclass the others. So instead of making them all attackers of comparable strength, they are going the route of creating more unique roles.

The French leaks of the cards show Pidgeot EX and a Charizard EX redone to match the old style of the cards....among others.
