News 20th Anniversary Set in September + Surfing Pikachu and M Slowbro-EX!

Milotic FLF was like a thousand times better than this and saw no play.

There are some obvious differences between the two.

The main advantage that Electrode has over Milotic (FLF) is that it can be attached to a Pokemon-EX. That in itself is pretty big - if we get a big-swinging [L] type EX then Electrode could be a viable partner. Heck, even M Ampharos-EX can be powered up in one turn with this thing + DCE.

Furthermore, you don't need to have Energy in the discard pile to maximise its usefulness, unlike Milotic.

However, on balance, I can't see Electrode being used at the moment. It's currently restricted by quite a few things, such as:
  • Garbodor
  • Enhanced Hammer
  • Only benefits [L] Pokemon
  • Stage 1 Pokemon
  • Gives up a prize (presumably)
Of all those, by far the biggest setback is giving up a prize, followed by the Garbo-hate. Besides, in a world without Garbodor, [L] takes would probably look to Magenzone for Energy-acceleration instead.

this card has insane potential for the future of the tcg. start the game with voltorb active, go second. then when its your turn, play wally, get electrode out, (hopefully there is a good electric type EX or regular basic that comes out) play said electric basic, knock out electrode, attach, making the good electric basic active, and boom! first turn murderous rampage.

Another point to make is that, although the part where you give up a prize sucks, it combos nicely with Ace Trainer in the early stages of the game!

In a format with incentives to feed your opponent prizes to gain card advantage and race to high damage outputs, Electrode has high potential. Magnezone saw play and this is a faster alternative and uses fewer slots in the deck. I am curious if there will be a clause that forces Electrode off of a Pokemon if it changes type (Jolteon is knocked out) or if it attached to a lightning Pokemon and then Jinja boy swaps for something else.
If only Milotic was still in rotation for Walk Off Home Runs.

And there goes my Cobalion/Electrode deck.... To bad that they nerf one of the best cards of base set...

Black Kyurem! I'm now so happy!

MY EVALUATIONS:
  • Tangela - I'm not surprised!
  • Charmander - I'm not surprised!
  • Charmeleon - I'm not surprised!
  • Electrode - Perfect for Raikou since it only attach to [L] Pokemon. If I run this deck, I'll run 2-2 Electrode. Just to be play safe

As predicted! Or was it confirmed? Either way, this is a useful item for any brew using the card, whether it is BDIF or from the bargain bin.

As suspected (considering M Charizard-EX (X) was release in Generations).

Looking forward to the Full Art version of this (assuming we get one).

Also, that's a cool Spirit Link!

The thing is by now, I think it needs to be reworked; with 18 video game Types and 11 TCG Types, we can avoid three-in-one Types. Why avoid them? Less deviation in terms of Type relationships:fewer effects meant to apply to Type A1 working on Type B1 (because in the TCG, they are both Type A2) and more accurate Weakness/Resistance. So pre-XY when I did that, I could minimize the deviation by shifting Poison to the Darkness Type. I also found out that it would make more sense now to shift the Rock Type to the Metal Type; not like the names for the original combination Types always made sense. Not sure if it still holds up with the Fairy Type now added.

Doubling up Colourless with Normal still makes sense.
Doubling up Rock and Ground still makes sense.
Creating Fighting and Poison would make 12 tcg alignments plus colourless, with five alignments representing two types (grass + bug, water + ice, rock + ground, normal + flying, psychic + ghost).

The problem is creating unique gameplay identities for each one. This is already a problem with the TCG (what does a fairy Clefairy do differently than a Normal Clefairy?) But this will continue to be a problem as long as attacks, weaknesses and resistances are based on Pokémon card type rather than attack energy type.

Whatever the change is, it should be final. Introducing types now that have been in the game since day 1 is frustrating to me.

Yes! Finally a Spirit link and a Reprint! Looks like My Crimson Darkness (yeah, pretty stupid name) Deck is making a return to the Standard Format!
