3DS Not Connecting to the eShop

First off, have you put in an Wi-Fi access point in your setting? this will allow you to access the internet on your 3DS whenever you are within range of the access point. In your settings you can put in one (if you have Wi-Fi at home do it there), and then you can put in your security key allowing you to get onto the internet. Then, go to the e-shop and update. If you still can't get into the e-shop try updating the 3DS system, this is also in settings, that should allow you to update the game if you have not done so online. I know that this was just recently an issue with me, so I can relate.

Yeah, I am having the same problem. I've been trying to connect all day. One would think that with all the gifting of X&Y for Christmas, they would have someone working on this or have NOT taken the day off.

Yeah, shame on them for wanting to take Christmas off and to spend time with their families. Jeez people, it's not going to kill if you can't get online.momoxmomo said:

Wonder how Japan got their banks and transporters...
And I do think that with 3DS being gifted along with Pokemon someone should be working the servers to make a good first impression on their new players and if they did have Xmas off... put a sign up or something.

I was joking at that part ^.^
I just think that they should have been ready for the new players that can't access the PSS if they haven't downloaded the patch (from the eShop). They managed to have PokeBank out for Christmas.

Soooooooo... looks it might not be coming out tomorrow after all. Apparently it's true what people were saying about the server being overloaded. But to the point where they removed the app and delayed it?
I mean sure I don't need it right this second and have plenty of stuff to do to keep me busy but I'm still very, very annoyed. Agh... but it can't be helped.

^I am from Texas (USA), and I have been trying to connect since midnight on Christmas. I have been able to get into the eShop a few times, but then I get the error message when I try to download the patch.
I can't get on at all and I get the error message when it tries to connect for a few mins.
The Message says:
Error Code: 005-4240
An error occurred.
Please try again later.
If the problem persists, please contact your local customer support centre.
For contact details, check the Operations Manual or visit support.nintendo.com.

That's 10AM GMT and 7PM in Japan.
