(4) Dragons Exalted, McDonalds, BW6 Booster Box Promo - Flygon!, Fall Tins [5/26]

Just bought a Darkrai EX for $50 on eBay. After I raged for a bit I was faced with a choice. Return it or keep it and trade for valuable things. What do you guys think?

I would return it. You're probably not going to get a lot more then 50$ by selling it anyway.

1000th post :]

Depends on how many packs come in the tins. If 5, then they'll be 20 a pop for tins. Shiny emboar is still almost 20, and that has a set version, reverse version, and a tin promo as well. Plus it's less playable. So $20 /30 due to rarity and playability makes sense.

Excellent post sir.
@ Gista, your choice, if FA keep it, and be happy, or go back and get tin versions.

I guess you're not going to Nats and hence I'd personally return it. By the time you play another competitive tournament again, they could be worth only $15. Not worth that kind of drop. You could buy a play set with that type of money in September.

^ agreed, if your going to nats/worlds or if it's FA then keep it, however if you will only be using it this spring for BR's then put it away until Autumn, it would be worth your while to sell it (hint hint the best time to sell it is right before nats, everyone is scrambling to get the cards and will be more willing to over pay/trade for it :) )

While we don't really comment on rumors, this site is claiming all these official connections and partnerships. I'd hope most of you would realize that:

We likely wouldn't give a new set announcement to a random Youtube site before we announce it on our own site.
Mewtwo is not a Dragon.
There is exactly 1 "fan" site with any kind of official affiliation w/ us. You're looking at it.

So, again, I won't comment on any of the rumors (next post: "Hey Exo, so what cards are in the tins?"), but it is important t]o note that this fansite/Youtube channel has no official partnership, etc. with us for announcing news.

I got stopped at probably 3 tournaments recently asking me why Enhanced Hammer's text got changed. Again, a fansite mistranslated the card and everyone took it as truth.

I know this is futile, but I'll put it out there once more: if you don't see something announced on an official site (not one claiming to be an official site, not one claiming to be friends with the official site, not one who's uncle totally knows a guy that knows a guy) you're dealing with a healthy dose of speculation, unofficial wording, guesses, and sensationalism.

He works at TCPi (I think)

Looks like our dreams got crushed brutally.

Please let someone tell me that's not true.

Please.

PLEASE! I just sold my Darkrai because of the announcement.

So the tins are a lie?! :( ALL THE SAD!

This better not be true, it will really mess up my trading plans if it is! Now I don't know whether or not to hang on to my Darkrais after my BRs...... (I know I'm jumping to conclusions but I'm just really worried about this)

so he's saying it may or may not happen? Well isn't that nice of him *cracks knuckles* I'm sure that him and all the nice people he works with wouldn't want to disappoint the millions of customers who are hoping so bad for these tins, right?

lol, seriously though, if we got misinformed that'd be horrible!

Not that it is a lie, he is just saying don't believe it 100%.

But the only legal Mewtwo and Darkrai are the EXs; Rayquaza on the other hand, has 3 other prints. (non-EX, Shiny and Promo) This means that either they will be English exclusive Promos or there will be more prints of them in Japan before they get released here or we will get them before Japan does. (which has been happening recently starting with EP)

Are you saying that is will probably happen? Or not?
And another thing, he is saying that why would they release Darkrai and Mewtwo while trying to promote a Dragon set?

Now that I've stop spazzing enough to give this some thought:

Nothing adds up here. That pack art seems too real to be fake. And it seems unlikely that a major youtube channel/site like that would completely lie.

....but now this guy says Pokecollection has no affiliation with TPCi. That seems very strange that Pokecollection would just lie.

...I don't know what to think. As I said, none of the information adds up.

I'm saying it's possible that it could happen, but I don't think it will. Fans have hyped this so much that it pretty much HAS to happen otherwise fans will be incredibly outraged.

Photoshop can make Pack art. You never know, though.
They may have a secret affiliation with them, but probably not.

It is unlikely that they would lie, but, they could have.

I honestly hope that they come out, but in reality, it probably won't happen. Why would TCPi make such valuable cards in tins? Why would TCPi make people not want to buy Dragon packs and DEX packs by releasing the good cards in the tins?

All the more reason for TCPi to come out as soon as possible to dispel rumours. The longer they waited to say something, the more pissed off people would be. Imagine if they didn't say anything and no one knew it was a lie until the sell sheets were released?

Personally, I think this rumour is a combination of truths and hypotheses. I think if the whole thing was true, they probably wouldn't have spoken up about it. The pack art looks way too good; if it's fake, it's incredibly well done, but it's more likely that that's actually true. Which leads us to the tins. As much as the fans WOULD love it, it does seem kind of odd that Mewtwo and Darkrai would get tin treatment so long after their releases. (And there are many ways that people could have literally profited from that misinformation; by buying those good cards during the price drop and reselling them once the truth comes out. I don't know if this actually will happen or not, but it is a possibility.)

I really, really hope the Mewtwo/Darkrai/Rayquaza tin thing is real... but I'm no longer holding my breath on it.

Most competitive players, the ones who want the really good cards in multiple, are not the kinds of buyers that buy packs over and over hoping to pull those cards. Instead, those players trade for the cards or buy them as singles. TCPi doesn't make money in either of those cases. In the case of buying singles, it's 3rd party companies or individuals who make all the money, not pokémon.

Look over this thread just to get a sample glimpse of the kind of money people would toss at these tins. I'd much rather spend $20 on a tin to get a Mewtwo and some packs than spend $55 to get one from Troll and Toad; that's $35 I'm saving, plus whatever I get in the packs. And TCPi would much rather me buy that tin too; that's $20 they're getting from me that would have gone to TNT instead.

The point is that currently the value of those really good competitive cards like Mewtwo is more prevalent in 3rd party transactions than anything else. By releasing them in tins, TCPi would be getting some of that market share.

I agree with the part about wanting to dispel rumours, but don't you think they should give a definite answer as to wether or not it's true?

Here's the possibilities of what's going on right now:

1. PokeCollection is straight up lying. Likely? No. Possible? Anything is possible.

2. Exobyte is straight up lying. Likely? Again, no. Possible? Same as above, but this time it's almost impossible. There's no way he would lie about being an employee of TPCi, so it's likely that this isn't the case.

3. PokeCollection is getting info from a hidden source within TPCi. This is possible, and I'm sure TPCi is having a meeting tomorrow to ask if anyone did this. This would explain why PokeCollection has complete inside information, but was rejected by Exobyte.

4. There is an extremely elaborate plan set up between PokeCollection and TPCi, all designed to draw attention to the new set...although I'm pretty sure this isn't the case lol.

Option 3 seems like the most likely at this point, considering either source lying is incredibly unlikely.

I would have to agree with this. It could be possible the tins are true BUT they haven't made them official yet. Truthfully, I'm not sure what to believe either.

However, while it is odd that we'd get Mewtwo and Darkrai like this, we can't ignore the profit TPCi would make from it. I mean, pretty much everyone would buy those tins.
