BW/BW2 5th gen, good or bad?

5th gen is the worst gen, by far. The Pokemon designs killed it. I can't even play Black/White anymore because I hate the designs so much. And the little things, like merging the Pokemon Center and Mart, also made me upset. Don't ruin a good thing, Nintendo.

That's kind of mean, I hate Gen 5 and so do a bunch of other people yet we are hardcore Pokemon fans. What does that tell you? B/W are not as good as the other gens. Extremely linear game, horrible in-game pokemon, very easy, very short, overall its just not up to the standards Pokemon has set with its other games. The only reason I got B/W is to be able to battle my friends who have it, otherwse I probably would not have gotten it because it is flat out not as good as Pokemon's other games (well, besides Ranger, but everything is better than that). Liking Pokemon may inspire a sense of loyalty to buy new games, but that doesn't prevent us from thinking they suck.

Finally, people who speak sense. I loved SS, I think it's the best, but it didn't stop me from when I lost to Whitney the 15th time to take the game cartridge out, throw my DS cartridge on the floor and throw the cartridge half way across the house into a wall. Just shows how much I want to continue, even if the games force me to do something as serious as that.

True story, I can break the case open if I wanted. There is a mark on the wall too.

Ay. Men. I'm seriously bored to tears with White. I am so bored, I'm back to Pearl. After I get my Black Card, I'm gonna try and complete the PokeDex on White, I guess. But that's gonna be monotonous and time-consuming, so I'll go back to LeafGreen or even buy the newest Pokemon Ranger.

I also like 5th gen for the animation and show offs in the graphics. It's cool that the pokemon have a custom sprite when they fall asleep.

Yeah same here for the same reasons why I bought B/W, I may have went a bit overboard but still B/W is great for battling people via Wi-Fi who do have it and graphics/gameplay wise it's much better than Gen 4 but that's where it ends overall.

I loved most of the pokemon in Unova, but some of their stats were lame. And only a couple of the pokemon i hated. and some pokemon were pretty powerful in stats. Haxorus is the boss in attack, and so is Chandelure in Sp. attack. Alomomola should have been the evolution to Luvdisc, and is a tank with a maxed out Health stat.

I liked how the creators made B&W a new beginning for Pokemon. They added a new set of 150ish Pokemon just like R&B, old Pokemon don't show up until you beat the game, they didn't add "useless" evos of Pokemon (Magmortar, Electivire, etc.) to fill up the 'Dex, and I liked the basic concept of Yin and Yang found throughout the game. What I didn't really care for all that much was the lack of creativity put into the new Pokemon. A lot of the new Pokemon are basically alternate universe versions of Pokemon found in past generations, mainly of the first 150 Pokemon. Pidgey -> Pidove. Drowzee -> Munna. Sandshrew -> Drilbur. Chansey -> Audino. Poliwag -> Tympole... I could go on, but I'm sure my point has been explained.

Mostly its good, there's a few pokemon I dislike (Cough Gothitelle Cough)
but the game is amazing and the pokemon are at least 20% cooler. ^^

Every generation does this, well, most good ones anyway. I think they did it on a larger scale just because they ran out of idea's. I did rage for a long time about munna more or less being exactly the same as Drowzee. Both dream eating Pokemon, completely copying the all mighty first gen.

Pidgey - Hoothoot - Tailow - Starly - Pidove
Rattata - Sentret - Poochyena/Zigzagoon - Bidoof - Patrat
The three legends. (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltress)
The main two legends that go against each other, starting from gen 2. (Ho-oh, Lugia)
The one little legend that seems to always appear in a movie. (Mew, Celebi, Jirachi)

I like how there is a pattern of Pokemon early on but I think it should spread as the world of Pokemon opens to you. Funly enough, I don't think the Pokemon were very open and imaginative, hey! Just like the game. It all fits!

- and Throh+Sawk being a DIRECT rip-off of Hitmonchan+Hitmonlee

I actually perfer Generation IV over V because Gen IV is my all time favorite.

That being said, I find Gen V to be really enjoyable.

i hated stunfisk, cobalion (he looks like an attack llama with shoes), and the lillipup family. other than those, everyone was almost okay looks-wise. stat wise, the only ones that shined were the ones i mentioned earlier. the straight forward setup that required little thinking really ruined the experience for me, but hopefully they will kill those flaws in gray.

To be honest, I find Black and White to disappoint. I like the new features the game has like faster gameplay, the new exp system, the animated pokemon sprites, and the unlimited TM's. But besides that, many of the new pokemon are not very impressive, there are many new pokemon that are just re-imagined old pokemon. Granted there are new pokemon that are impressive and the many new type combinations are nice touch. But in Pokemon Black aand White, all can you catch is new pokemon until you beat the game and the fact that you cannot normally obtain old favorites is a problem for me, because of the detaching feeling I get when I miss having them. Not only is that but the game just incredibly easy. The Gym Leaders are not even challenging anymore, the Elite 4 have only 4 pokemon, there are game breakers like Wild Audino and that you are given the Lucky Egg, having to catch a legendary to use against N and Ghetsis, and the monkey from the Dreamyard. Takes an already easy game to intelligence insulting levels. And the postgame is lacking. Only a few places to go, a few things to do, I cannot even battle Bianca for some reason.

The game is not terrible, it's just not the game it should have been.

If it was harder, ditched the cgear crap, gave us vs seeker, a whole lot more access to old pokemon post game and more emphasis on the yinyang, itd be perfect.

I thought the Legendaries were kind of disappointing looking. I mean I'm fine with Reshiram and Zekrom but Kyurem is hard to adjust and imagine as the third game's mascot (if there is one) and the three Musketeers (Cobalion, Virizion, Terakion) were kind of lame looking. The music wasn't inspiring either, just seemed like a "I'm out of ideas here goes nothing!" type of work. I didn't like Victini and the "rus" guys... Thunderus, Tornadus and Landorus. They just kinda look the same only with a few minor changes and their cries are hard to make out. And they're kind of ugly. I was cool with the most part but eh, maybe I'm getting old and Pokemon doesn't seem as cool anymore. Funniest question was a lady asking me what Cobalion was when I was buying a booster pack. I just went along with it. "I don't know.... some fish-lion moose thing...?"

I was not impressed with Thunderus (if i spelled that correctly), but when i used it, it was just amazing! i just hate how it does not learn any good flying moves via leveling up :(.

Thundurus doesn't need to. It already gets great coverage with T-Bolt, HP Ice, and Focus Blast. Running a Flying move is just a waste of a moveslot, especially when you can have Grass Knot, priority Taunt, Nasty Plot, and T-Wave.

I know Gothitelle was a horrible pokemon, everyone hates it. I also know everyone abuses and hates patrats 'cause 1: it gives of 1 ATK EV and is abundant on Rt. 1 , and 2: it's horrible statwise. I still think gen 5 is good, but not the best.

2 side notes: What is all this HP-Ice and HP fire, and 200th post, yeah!!!

HP is Hidden Power. It's a Special move that can be different Base Powers and any of the types depending on the user's Individual Values.

Any idea what IVs equal what types?

More on topic, the 5th gen has many errors, mostly how straightforward the story was and how easy everyone was to beat. Still, those qualities don't make the game a failure, but instead leaves a lot of room for improvements. Nintendo and Gamefreak will know what flaws to kill in Pokemon Grey and the R/S/E remakes.
