i had took a break after states last rotation and i wanted to come back, but im having trouble finding a deck that isn't going to break the bank, but will still be quite competitive. obviously that leaves out decks that involve luxray. if you guys could post some decks, with some skeletons that would be great. also the reason why to run this over this..would be amazing, but not needed.

Donphan's not bad, Sablelock isn't bad either, and I'm hearing that Arceus is becoming pretty competitive, and it doesn't seem to be that expensive either.

Donphan is a good choice. Ttar and SableyeLock are also really good and probably have plenty of merit on the competitve scene in the coming formats.

im probably willing to spend around 50-70$

i mean i want to be able to make top cut in tourneys

Just get a starter & fix it to your likings.
That's how I started when BASE came out.

$50-70 cant really make cut easy... Staples are going to be your major problem. Candies, Collector, Communication, and other good staples are about $3-4 each. Uxie are about $6. Azelf is about $12. That is most of that right there.

Sablelock is probably your best bet. It can be a really competitive deck if you're on a budget, and will do you a lot of good if you know how to use it. The cards that will cost the most are the staples, as Sableyes and Garchomp Cs are fairly cheap. A good reason to run it is because it is very flexible and has tons of possibilities in a game, and can (in a way) help you figure what kind of deck you want to run in the future (Lock, Disruption, etc.). For my list and article, check my sig.

Hope I helped!

Not sure you'd top with this deck, but an extremely easy and cheap deck to build/understand is mightyena pl with skuntank g pl.
The most expensive cards in the deck would be bts, collector, communication, and uxie.

Sablelock, Kingdra Prime and Steelix are all fairly cheap decks, you might even be able to afford a Turtwig GL, the SP staples will be pricey though.

what do you guys think of vilegar? ive decided i would raise my price up to 100$
my meta is mostly luxchomp (obv) and i know that it has a good matchup against that. also i dont have any of my cards from last season, but i can pick them up relatively easy and most likely for free. are there any cards in triumphant that will break the game or change the meta?

gengar prime. Its going to be quite expensive most likely because everyone is excited and hyped for it.

Well if your meta is mostly Luxchomp, Umbreon actually really crushes the deck.

It's a cheap card that is easy to overlook. The Eevee evolutions are also versatile so if you need coverage against other types of decks you could get it. Machamp also crushes SP decks and has the bonus of being able to get donks fairly easily.

im thinking of either arceus or dialgachomp. i've heard good things about dialgachomp and arceus, arceus being kind of a rogue deck.

Arceus is probably the cheaper of the two (although personally I would say Dialga is the better and more competitive lol). Dialga G Lv.X is pretty pricy, along with the rest of the SP Engine, but Arceus is honestly cheaper and a better route to take with a budget.

dmaster out.

Do you have any staple cards like Pokemon Collecter, Pokemon Communication, BTS etc. and the SP engine?

Some staples(not SP staples) are in the HS Starter kit. That is the easiest, and cheapest way to get them.

I WOULDN'T go Dialga or arceus as a begginner because they both are very hard decks to play. Dialga is a bad choice with lots of Luxchomp; same with Arceus (although they both should beat it, your are new to the game.) I'd really go Donphan with lots of luxchomp. It's pretty cheap to make and pretty good.

Mightyena is how I started out my competitive stuff. Mightyena (LA) with Umbreon (UD) and Vileplume (UD) would hurt lots of decks and involves no required Lv.Xs.
