Am I only person that doesn't care of all this fancy EV/IV stuff?

I just play the game regularly, and when I roam the competitive play section, I'm confused.

Edit: And the natures. I don't see the point in it. I easily understand abilities, but I don't fret about nature.

RE: Am I the only person that...

Same here i have no clue what Iv or Ev is i looked up a guide and it was just plain confusing.

RE: Am I the only person that...

Allow me to third this. I don't honestly care about EVs, IVs, DVs, HIVs, RVs, A/Vs, or UVs.
For instance, I was trying to put a team together for a 3v3 match with a friend. Some guy was like 'Hurr, it's useless unless you know his pokemon's IVs.'
Actually, no, seeing how the moron thinks his Emboar-Venosaur-Genesect team can shut out my fully-leveled Samurott-Victini-Reshiram team. Here's a hint: idc about values. If I have any chance of making a mockery of my opponent's type-choosing decisions, I will.

RE: Am I the only person that...

It's a game mechanic. If you want to learn about it, just ask someone. If you don't care, that's fine too. Being a casual or competitive battler is your choice.

RE: Am I the only person that...

Ever since I found out about Evs, it always bothered me to go through a normal play through for situations like, say, taking an Emboar through Celestial Tower. But I'm not complaining since I believe that there are a lot more pros to knowing about IVs/EVs and how to work with them than cons. It's just an awesome feeling to know that you have maxed out a Pokemon's stat to its highest potential.

RE: Am I the only person that...

When I am playing through the game I don't care about natures or anything. The only Pokemon I actually try and get a desirable nature and IVs are ones you can only catch one of. We do have an EV Training Guide here on the forums.

RE: Am I the only person that...

Like Trainerhan said, some find it rewarding to make their Pokémon the best they can be.
However, IVs/EVs/Natures aren't everything, as good move sets are just as important.

RE: Am I the only person that...

After I found out about IVs and stuff, breeding Pokemon did become a bit of a chore for me, but it was also really fun to do and I'm a better battler because of it - plus, I've gotten to go to tournaments like VGC and meet all kinds of awesome people; going 5-3 with a Gengar team is one of those things I'll always remember.

That said, I absolutely cannot believe this topic actually deserves its own thread. Really? Really?

RE: Am I the only person that...

I mostly don't care about that IV and EV stuff too much. Use it sometimes, but I don't get majorly hardcore into it. That said, I am EV training Metapods right now... for fun...

Yes. Really. I want to know if other forumers don't care about IV/EV's. Dealwithit.jpg

RE: Am I the only person that...

When going through the games I don't care about EV's/Nature. After game, I try to get the Pokemon with the right Nature (and ability if it has 2) to then EV train them. It would be too much to ask for having perfect IV's though.

RE: Am I the only person that...

In competitive battling, EVs, IVs, and Natures are essential—in order to make your Pokemon as good as possible you must comprehend and utilize them. In the main game, they don't matter at all; anyone can beat any given Pokemon game facilely without knowledge of EV's (and it is likewise for the other two).

RE: Am I only person that doesn't care of all this fancy EV/IV stuff?

The mechanics are almost always interesting to me; I love knowing how things work in most regards. But on a day-to-day basis? Nah, I never give a second thought to Natures or EVs and IVs. Sure, maybe I think my Emboar is a little weak for its level and that it probably got a bad Nature. Sure, I don't capture any in-game legends, Dream Radar legends, or events without RNGing for perfect IVs because I really hate one-time captures. Sure, I really prefer to have a good team for battle facilities to make them way easier. Sure, I like getting people what they need for their tournaments even if I stay up all night and don't manage to scrape together a thing because I was spending all my time grinding for the Power items. Sure... oh.

Well I do not care for In-Game...The only thing I do care about for in in-game is natures because if it has a good stats in like Attack if I get a boosting nature for attack BOOM IT well kill everything...but outter-game I care about IV'S And EV'S

RE: Am I only person that doesn't care of all this fancy EV/IV stuff?

I don't care about those things except natures.

RE: Am I only person that doesn't care of all this fancy EV/IV stuff?

Everything is fine for me except IVs.

RE: Am I only person that doesn't care of all this fancy EV/IV stuff?

Actually IV's and EV's are confusing so I turned to event trading XD. I used to trade for shiny and EV'D Pokemon but I rarely do unless it is an event now. I tried competitive play when we used to have the clans and clubs. When those died I quit XD. It is very confusing XD.:)

RE: Am I only person that doesn't care of all this fancy EV/IV stuff?

Honestly, I don't think this thread should exist. I mean let's face it, there will always be competitive people who want to max their Pokemon out and those who just play to play. It's cool you don't care and all, but really? Calling people out about it?

Re: Am I only person that doesn't care of all this fancy EV/IV stuff?

I am sorry, but without proper IVs and EVs, my YT channel would be nonexistant (right now it kinda is, no internet access). I would be so bad I wouldn't want to play competitively. Maybe the reason some people hate EV and IV and Nature breeding/training is because they can't/don't do it.

Example: I have enough time to EV/IV train/breed so I do it. I have been working for about 40 days on a 31/31/31/2/31/31 Adamant Technician Breloom. No luck yet. Closest I have is 31/31/30/2/31/31

:/
