Seeing as though the past generations forum isn’t getting much action I’d thought everyone wants to see me struggle through a game no-one plays anymore just to pass the time so here’s a Nuzlocke run.
I'd like to thank Pokecheck.org for filling in the sprites Pokébeach doesn't support. Pokecheck did all the sprites and now all the forum sprites work and I can't be bothered to change them

Grabby and Catchy
It's funny because I write these in advance and then forget what level they are afterwards.
After regaining my PP I return to where I escaped and descended the ladder to find these goons guarding the place. I almost effortlessly brush past the lot of them and make it seem like I never even needed to go back to the Pokemon center at all. Although the Super Nerd did do a deal to Gravy's health, it was slightly compensated by a level up. Which fossil did we pick? Who cares! I'm not gonna revive it anyway. But if you must know I picked the Dome fossil.
(Kabutops ftw yo!)
I Vine Whip everything else out of the way and step outside the cave.
I take a deep breath and smell fresh air. Seems like I was in that cave for an eternity. I look ahead and see a pokeball in the distance. I jump over a few ledges and pick up the Whirlwind TM. Jump over a few more and jump into the grass to see what kind of Pokemon I would be fighting first.
Unfortunately, just a Rattata. I was hoping for a Sandshrew, would have come in quite handy with dig later on. I run off like the wimp I am and arrive at the Unique Cerulean City.
I've always liked Cerulean City. It's tranquil to say the least. I like most towns that have a river running through it...odd thing to bring up in a Nuzlocke, I know, but whatever.
I skip towards the Pokemon Center to get my buddies healed up and plan out my next move. But before I do I head to the back of the old mans place to feel around for that rare candy. Walking through town I decide to head for the Gym to get a bit of extra experience before I psyche myself up for Catchy.
Of course everyone but the Gym leader is pathetic. So me and Misty go head to head.
VS
I Vine Whip and then use tackle to finish of the Staryu. A quick and clean kill. Although she then sends out Starmie who seems rather intimidating with that huge ruby eye. Nevertheless I smash it with a Vine Whip and take out a third of it's HP. It retaliates with a rather strong tackle. Misty starts the next turn with an X-defend but luckily Vine Whip crits. And the match is over.
She congratulates us, gives us her favorite TM, Bubblebeam, and of course, the Cascade Badge. I walk out and once again find something to do before the rival fight: Get Sucker learning to bite. It only took a few wild battles and we were set. I heal up and approach Nugget Bridge.
It's just a matter of who to fight Pidgeotto. I can't remember if it has any flying type moves, but I risk it and put Gravy on the front lines.
VS
Fortunately the Pidgeotto didn't rely on Sand Attack tactics. So I got through with minor Bruises. Next he sends out his Abra and I see this as an ideal opportunity to get Sucker a little bit of experience. (Could have used him to get health for Gravy but the moment passed.) In seconds the Abra goes down and I swap out to fight his Rattata. Once again a few tackles knocks him out and out comes the worry machine. Charmander.
I decide to switch to Sucker in order to heal up Gravy. In two potions he is healed.
Supersonic helped Charmander chip off some of it's health but a critical scratch made me switch out Sucker with Gravy. Although enough damage had already been done so I could take him out with one tackle. Another rival fight won, another level gained.
Oh and Gravy learned PoisonPowder last level. Forgot to mention.

Grabby and Catchy
I'm not going to get very far in this...
Well, here is where it all began. I head to the PC and pick up a potion, walk downstairs and ignore everyone until I stupidly decide to walk outside into the wilderness with no Pokemon, in a Nuzlocke run! Crazy right? Well thankfully this old man comes rushing towards me and scares me silly. He asks if I need a Pokemon and I'm like "surewtfidcwhatever".
He escorts me to his abandoned lab where he's captu-err his grandchild is, he says his name is "Catchy". Ok. There are three pokeballs on the table and he forces me to pick one while the guy with the catchy name is stamping his feet. Now then, Bulbasaur, Squirtle or Charmander? Hmmm. Let's take the easy route shall we? Bulbasaur.
A 5% chance of finding a Pikachu to even stand a chance against Misty? With Charmander? Under normal circumstances I would take those odds. But as we all know. Nuzlockes aren't ordinary circumstances.
Now then, what to call this little guy? Plantasaurus? No...Bulby? No, too common...I KNOW! Gravy!
My rival shoves me out of the way and picks his little lizard. He calls it a Charmander. Ha! I would have called mine Grizzle.
I have played this part a million times but still to my surprise my rival wants to fight. I sigh and we battle.
VS
Of course, it would be a short run if I died...which I did the first time, so I repeated all the steps before and I won the second time round without using my potion. Gravy leveled up! I call this a success!
He shouts some unintelligible nonsense and leaves, I shortly follow.
Taking a deep breath, I walk into Route 1. Fighting my way through hordes of enemies (two pidgey and a rattata) I come to the humble Viridian City.
Seeing as though I need some pokeballs to even stand a chance in this run, I'll head to the pokemart. Oh wait, Oak wants me to do his dirty work...wait how did the shop keeper know I was from pallet?
Anyway...carefully carrying this parcel and fighting a few more pidgeys led me to discover the pokedex. Unfortunately, we will not be able to follow Oaks orders as I am on a mission of my own. Complete this game in the stupidest and hardest way possible! Finding the Pokemart, I buy 5 Pokeballs and Antidotes and dive into the next patch of grass.
VS
I will only do this for half the trainers and important fights.
Blast! Not all sprites work. I'll have to make do.Is a Lv. 3 Pidgey worth it? A flying type could help through the forest, although in the original I don't think it learns many flying type moves early on. I'll take a pass, I'll take the experience for now.
Just my luck, I head onto the next patch of grass and there is a level 5 Rattata. Oh boy.
Well, just me and Gravy for now and we come up to Viridian forest at Lv.9...I have a good feeling.
You may be thinking I forgot about the rival fight, I concluded that sand attack paired with growl would be too much for little Gravy at this point.

VINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIP
VINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIP
Wait why did I buy antidotes when Bulbasaur is a poison type?
Rushing into Viridian Forest like the guy I am, I find a lv. 5 Weedle staring at me in that way Weedles do. I don't want to waste a valuable experience while training this bug. So down he went, just like all the other Wild Pokemon and Trainers in the forest. I would have caught a Pikachu if it turned up, but I have never found one in these games outside of the last stretch of grass.
Only one used Potion. Could be better. Normal attacks cannot even graze the might that is Brock, so I grind for Vine Whip.
Several Pokemon Center trips later Gravy evolves to level 13!
I make sure it's Pewter Cities gym I was entering, walk in and face my first challenge.
VS
He tells me I am quite a distance away from Brock even though I saw him at the end of the room and throws out a Diglett.
VINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIP
Then he throws out a Sandshrew.
VINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIP
And thus he is defeated. We also leveled up! Now...to Brock.
VS
He throws out his trusty Geodude.
VINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIP
Goes down just as easy as the Diglett. He then puts his faith into Onix.
VINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIPVINEWHIP
I win and another level!
He gives us the Boulder badge and the Bide TM and we leave all jolly-like while I suspect Brock is crying in the corner. He couldn't even beat anyone in a Nuzlocke run.
After that delightful experience I head over to get Gravy healed and stock up on Potions and an Escape Rope. It's time to make our way to Mt. Moon.
The first trainer fight was actually pretty rough. The sand attacks really got me and Gravy in a pickle. We just made it out alive thanks to leech seed. Fortunately, the next trainer fights weren't so bad and our little Gravy evolved! How lovely! Now we can deal extra damage tothe communists those pesky trainers.
A flippidy flap flop moment later we arrive in the Pokemon Center next to Mt. Moon. Heal up Gravy and his new found powers and down we go. This won't be easy as it looks. Mt. Moon sometimes blacks me out on a normal run.

In the Dark Depths of Mt. Moon
In the Dark Depths of Mt. Moon
So inconsistent With these capital Letters
I take a walk into the depths of Mt. Moon and instantly I am...locked eyes?...er...locked...fighting a Zubat. Typical. Although it's a level 10 Zubat I still considered just tackling it down and running off but if I never catch a Pokemon I'll stand no chance. Two tackles and it's low enough on health to catch with one pokeball. Nice.
So...nickname nickname nickname. I'll call it Sucker. I was trying to think of a groan inducing Dracula pun but I couldn't come up with any. Ah well.
I go over and grab the Water gun TM and the potion. I miss when ordinary moves were TM's. It seems so weird now.
As I ponder this point, a guy with a bug net that could catch a Wailord sprints towards me and throws a Weedle at me. Gravy takes out his Weedle and Kakuna gaining a level in the process.
Sucker only knows Leech Seed and Supersonic right now so I took time in grinding yet again outside of Mt.Moon. I move down the the patch of grass below Mt.Moon and find a 5th level Jigglypuff.
VS
I was thinking if I needed it while hammering the button but accidentally fainted it. Not too upsetting and I got a good 50 exp out of it.
I wanted Sucker to get to level 15 at least just to learn Bite so it can defend itself with some certainty. It took forever until I finally decided to pit it against the trainers in Mt. Moon and then I started to get somewhere.
Just to spare a few potions, whenever I faced a Metapod or even a Caterpie, I switched to Gravy and used Leech Seed and Growl to pass the time or used Suckers Leech Seed on Bellsprouts and Oddish.
It's at this point that I think about it a singing Jigglypuff would be perfect for this.
I descended deeper to find the menacing Team Rocket waiting for me. Before I fight him however I pick up the Mega Punch TM. And then we fight.
VS
I would say I just VINEWHIPVINEWHIP but that's not historically accurate. More like hitselfinconfusion. I make it through the Zubat when it sends out Ekans. This Ekans knows Wrap (or Bind I forget) so I switch to Sucker and Leech Life took care of it pretty easy.
After a few more paces I come up to the large area with one of the final ladders. I fight the guy who is basically a better Brock but Gravy is almost out of PP for his Vine Whip so I had to play it slow. Leech Seed and Tackle helped me win this fight.
I pick up the Moon Stone and decide to take an Escape Rope out because I am almost out of PP. I'm pretty sure Jigglypuff or Wigglytuff could learn Water Gun...*sigh* I really want that Jigglypuff right now. What's really on my mind however is how hard the rival fight will be. But I have to focus on stopping Team Rocket getting a fossil I will never use because it will take too much training. Oh and Sucker is still not level 15 yet.

Bullet Bills Endurance Test
The regretful Nuzlocke
I heal my unusual friends before going into Nugget bridge where my cheek meets the eyes of a stranger. Suckers biting really shows what he can do and does tremendous damage to many of the trainers. A brief scare with a binding Ekans took place but Leech Life again was my savior.
By the Team rocket grunt at the end Sucker has leveled twice! I worried a little about this fight but my worries were calmed by Gravy's incredible power level. I return to Cerulean to heal and stock up on just about everything except Burn Heals including selling my Nugget and TM's: Whirlwind, Bide and Megapunch.
The second I sell Whirlwind I realize that it was a blessing in disguise. Whirlwind would have been invaluable in my Nuzlocke adventure. Hitting myself in the head I proceed to make my way to Bill, where a lot of trainer seem to want to see him also. Before I dive in I grab the Thunder Wave TM and start to hack and slash my way through.
Approaching Bills house our Pokemon grow stronger.
Gravy achieves a specific level.
Sucker achieves a specific level.
I'm surprised when I see a Clefairy roam around the house.
If you have forgotten what a Clefairy looks like then here is a quick demonstration:
With that over with.I thought to myself I could catch it but it might be Bills. It's at this point it notices me and starts shouting at me in one of the many languages I speak.
In shock I follow its orders hoping it won't set me on fire. It climbs into the capsule and I smash the keyboard until lights and sparks fly everywhere. Bill comes out the other capsule because this is apparently a teleporter, hands me an S.S. Anne ticket and then kicks me out of his house.
I head down the quick way and would you look at that? We can now enter a crime scene and do a little investigating.
I inspect the whole house to find footprints plastered all of the house. Then I interview the residents to find out what had been taken. I feel a breeze and then notice that the wall was missing. Stepping through and finding the culprit he rushes at me with his Pokemon and we fight.
VS
Incredibly, Sucker took on both of them. Machop didn't take much effort at all and Drowzee never used confusion and hypnosis never hit. In fact, the only reason why I am making a big deal out of this is because the spoiler will look really boring with just a Clefairy sprite. I gladly take the Dig TM and make my way past the Pokemon Day Care, in which I quickly regret not buying a Magikarp.
Okay, this Nuzlocke is just FULL of regrets. I need to make it up by doing stuff I won't regret.
I walk down the underground passage with heeps of swag and end up at one of the many routes of Kanto where I see buildings in the distance and demons blocking my path.

-it's a level 13 Pidgey LETSMOVEON!
After a few endurance battles Sucker levels to number 21 and learns Confuse Ray. One of the best moves in the game and as we all know, a tourny banned move. Keep up to date for more competitive VG tips from you're good Nuzlocke host Delta.
I enter the gate to Vermillion city and rapidly back flip towards to the Pokemon center. I stop mid flip and realize that the Old Rod man is near by. I steal his fishing rod and catch the first Magikarp I see.
HIS NAME IS FLAPPERS.
I knew I would make up all the regrets in my life somehow. I heal up and rush back to the daycare give the guy Flappers and literally run in circles. Then I did it in the game until it reached level 20 and then I gave it a a rare candy to evolve it into a Gyrados.
The nanosecond it evolves I throw a Bubblebeam disk down it's throat and waddya know? Bubbles! And then Water gun to get rid of flash.
We teleport back to Vermillion and heal up once more. Of course, Flappers is uselss against Thor so I decide to grab a Diglett or a Dugtrio if we're lucky.
And what luck! A level 19 Diglett.
I'M NAMING IT DUGLETT. Yes it which become redundent when it evolves...if it evolves.
Catching it after a few leech seeds we heal up, flash our ticket to the sailor and walk into the S.S. Anne.
With that over with.
*Insert Magikarp sprite because spoiler is dull*
I walk down the underground passage with heeps of swag and end up at one of the many routes of Kanto where I see buildings in the distance and demons blocking my path.
Before I fend off the monsters from the 4th chapter of Dante's Inferno, I dig around the ground helplessly looking for the rare candy because I know it's in Leaf Green/Fire Red but to no avail.
I take on the first few trainers no big deal before I realize I hadn't looked in the tall grass yet! Oh joy the wonders of the tall grass and what Pokemon can app-

Session #7
NOW DO YOU REALIZE HOW SERIOUS THIS IS!?
NOW DO YOU REALIZE HOW SERIOUS THIS IS!?
Taking "Nicknaming Pokemon for a better bond" to a whole new level.
I roll into the S.S. Anne like a trained athlete and look left and right. The coast was clear. I burst into the far right room and find an old man with two Growlithes. Easy pickings for little Duglett.
In the next room is the same man except he has the Nido siblings. Once again no match for Duglett here. Plus a quick level up!
A girl waiting for her dessert is in the next room. I always wondered if she was meant to be a reference to something.
In the next two rooms there are people on a cruise, traveling the world. And people say they don't know if any other Pokemon exist.
Suddenly a trainer wants to fight.
VS
She opens with a Pidgey and I throw Duglett out with no real care. She hits me with a sand attack. Uh boy. My scratch misses. And then she hits me with a gust. My scratch misses. She hits with another gust, crits and I see Duglett fall into the hole.
My first death.
My anger erupts. My hate arises. The primal need for revenge kicks in.
I send out Gravy in order to utterly destroy that Pidgey. A vine whip splits the boat in two when coming into contact with the birds head. The vine whip follows through and takes the Pidgey to the bottom of the ocean. Flappers takes the next Nidoran and devours the Pokemon with Bite. It's roars shatter all the glass on the boat.
As she weeps over her Pokemon I stare at her with wide open eyes and she falls into a coma. I take the Body Slam TM and walk out.
I walk past everyone on the ship hiding my tears with my hat as I run to the Pokemon Center in the pouring rain; where, my trusty Duglett is boxed. At least now it's in a better place. I wipe my tears and heal up the rest of my Pokemon who feel the exact same way I do. From this point on, we fight in the name of Duglett. We fight in the name of our fallen brothers.
I stock up on super potions and walk back onto the ship and battle the most hardiest of sailors who never abandon a sinking ship. I wipe out the deck and even more down below. Without noticing all my Pokemon increase in strength and Sucker even evolves. We cheer and move on, always thinking of Duglett. I heal up before facing my rival and go in with Flappers to fight the Pidgeotto.
VS
He tells me all about his new Pokemon and his Pokedex is fairing a lot better than mine. But I am not fulfilling that old mans dream.
Flappers destroys the Pidgeotto in two hits and is there to fight his Raticate. Which Flappers criticals and takes down in ONE SHOT! The Bubblebeam sends Raticate lying into the wall and Golbat is there to fight Kadabra. Of course, two leech seeds is enough for a level 18 Kadabra. And Flappers takes down the Charmeleon.
After the fight Catchy looked worried about his Pokemon but I think it was just about the sinking ship. I enter the captains cabin, cure him of his deadly disease and he gives me the precious HM.
Cut!
I leave as soon as the possible and jump out the boat just as it explodes.

Session #8
Training Montage
Training Montage
We haven't even got to the good sprites yet.
I heal up and proceed to take on all the trainers to the east. I decide to get as much experience for Gravy as possible as he will be the only one to stand a chance against the Surge. First fight I have Gravy levels and learns Razor Leaf! I get rid of Vine Whip as Tackle might come in somewhat useful in the future. As I make my way to the next trainer I bump heads with a Drowzee.
VS
I know I can get the Psychic TM in Saffron but is this the only Psychic Pokemon worth getting other than an Abra? Or is there another Pokemon that could be better off with the TM? I will have much more freedom as soon as I stroll into Celadon. I take an oddly long time trying to decide this and decide to catch it anyway. We all know these types were way overpowered in the original, and he could help with Erika. I'll decide whether it deserves the TM later, if I catch it of course.
Considering Poison and Psychic is not a great match-up I throw out Flappers in order to do some damage. Oh crumbs. Hypnosis hit. After 5 turns I wake up! Then fall under the spell of Hypnosis once again. Luckily the Drowzee is only doing 2-3 damage a hit and I wake up after 3 more turns, one hit should knock its health down enough. OH CRUMBS! Tackle kills it.
*Sigh*
Back to the drawing board. The shared experience is still enough to level Flappers though.
I take out the remaining trainers and notice a sprite I was completely unfamiliar with. The Engineer trainer sprite from Red/Blue looks absolutely alien to me. Strange.
Anyhow, I take the Escape Rope from behind the rock and heal up once more. I decide to teach Gravy Cut and replaced his Tackle. I'm pretty sure it has a better base attack. Then I box away all my unneeded items such as old rod, HM01 etc...
I miss that option.
I get the Bodyslam TM booted and decide to give it to either Gravy or Flappers. I hesitate and think who could have it in the future...what Pokemon could I get..?
Dratini could learn it but I might not be able to level it up so much.
Snorlax would be an obvious but I'm not sure if I could catch it or if it has it already.
But hey! Growlithes in Routes 7 and 8! I need a fire type. Well, we cross bridges when we get to them. For now, I grit my teeth and walk into the Vermillion City Gym.
I check out the bottom of the row for the switch and I don't get anything. Next I fight the trainers of the gym. The fights were easy. I'm using a level 31 Ivysaur so of course it is. Gravy also evolved into his final stage. But no time for cheering, we have to get the badge and ride back to Pewter. A Paralyze Heal was used and I fumble around for the two switches. After a minute. BINGO! Time to fight Lt.Surge. Just about everything went down in one shot so there is no need to heal. I interact with Lt.Surge and he gives us a little back story of the Pokemon world and we engage.
VS
To be honest...what can I say? His Pokemon went down just as easily as everything else in the gym. Razor Leaf is quite the move. We grab the Thunderbolt TM and also the Thunderbadge.
Ha, I can't believe I am really saying this but we really didn't need Duglett. Gravy scowls at me. I tell him it was just a joke but he just grunts it off and returns to the pokeball.
A heal here and a heal there and what do we find first in the Diglett cave? A blummin' Dugtrio. Jeez. Good experience for a wild battle though and for Flappers. A few Digletts later and we're back out in front of Viridian Forest. Now time to get Flash! I take a nice walk to the professor and ask for the Flash HM. Awhoops! Guess I don't have enough Pokedex I''ll just go catch a Caterpie or something it'll be fi-OH WAYTE this is a Nuzlocke and I can't do that kinda stuff. Where have I not fished for a Pokemon?
WHY!? OAK WWWWHHHYYYYYY!?!?

Session #9:
To and Fro the Dark Cave
To and Fro the Dark Cave
Playing the game is only a third of recording a Nuzlocke.
Correction: I misread the professors problem and he said I had 8 in the pokedex, not 9.
I stand there for a while thinking where I haven't looked for a Pokemon. Wait...of course! My destination! I haven't been to Dark Cave! Plus there is a few patches of grass on the way there. We'll be fine!
I dash back to Cerulean, buying a few pokeballs on the way and fight the trainers that guard the wasteland.
VS
This fight wasn't so hard as it was annoying. I was paralyzed from the first turn and luck was against me. Sucker got about one Leech Seed off every 4 turns. Luckily they did very little damage.
After a few more fights and levels I arrive at my first patch of unexplored grass. Hoping for the best I jump right in. A lv. 17 Rattata. Meh, not the best but it'll do. CRITICAL HIT. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
I kill it by accident.
After a few more fights and picking up the Teleport TM, I heal and return to the last patch of Grass outside of Dark Cave. I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to go through dark cave with absolutely no points of reference other than the trainers. I look morbidly at the grass and kick around for a bit. A level 16 Spearow. Okay. I haven't caught a Spearow yet. So let's just throw a pokeball and see what it does...
Caught! First time! Awesome!
I'm so bewildered by the fact that I might not have to go blind through Dark Cave that I don't notice the little Spearow looking at me.
It would be nice if I had a party that doesn't fall flat on it's face as soon as a spark goes off, there is little else in the game that actually has electric Pokemon. Apart from maybe Agatha with her Thunderbolting Gengar. But I'm sure to have countering stuff by then.
It does learn it's moves rather early. Drill Peck and Mirror Move I could see some use for but in a Nuzlocke, Mirror Move is rather risky. To be honest the only reason why I am complaining is that it kind of negates Suckers most useful move: Leech Seed. Although it evolves at level 20 and gets Drill Peck, Sucker will learn Wing Attack when I need it. Besides I forgot to rename it so *release*
I'm ignoring the important thing here. If I bump into a Zubat in Dark Cave, I'm done for.
Okay. Good and Bad news.
Bad news: I find a Zubat
Good News: The caves aren't completely pitch black like in Gold and Silver. Or...unless they aren't in G/S...I dunno.
Well this way I can feel my way around the cave and I do have memories of the layout of the cave so it shouldn't be too bad. Oh my, even the menu is effected. Flappers is on point mainly because it can take out Zubat easy and Geodude easier.
I won't be able to see trainers sprites very well so I'll be going in blind but from what I can remember there is maniacs with slowbro maybe Machop, some girlscouts with Oddish(s), a Bulbasaur and more Grass types. The rest are hikers. But enough of my boring explanations let's have fun in this pitch black cave.
The very first fight I have Gyrados levels and learns Dragon Rage. Just. I veeeeery almost press B and forget it. Phew. Tackle is forgotten and Gyrados learns the only Dragon move in the game, despite not being a Dragon type.
Again, I decide to run from Wild Battles to save on PP. Checking to see if I have any escape ropes I see that I have two rare candies still stocked up. I'll wait till I get to fuchsia so I can get the rare candy in the wardens house.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Flappers can learn the Thunderbolts. So tempting but I must save it for Jolteon or something.
After a rough dozen or so fights and much trial and error, I see the sunlight. Ah~ fresh air.
Flappers and Sucker have leveled a few times! I pat them both on the head and see they have more than enough energy to take out all the trainers in the immediate area. No extra levels but some nice experience. I look into the valley to see my favorite town in the entire series. Lavender.
I'm sure it will be a jolly old town
I'm sure it will...
I'm...sure...

Session #10:
The Sick and Twisted Lavender Town
The Sick and Twisted Lavender Town
That white hand on your shoulder...must be my imagination.
Maybe I can pay my respects to Duglett. I think Gravy, Sucker and Flappers would like that. I'll check it out when I have to.
However, I walk into Lavender and hear those maddening high pitch notes that make me feel depressed as soon as those first 8 notes chisel themselves into my brain. Struggling to retain my sanity I stumble into the Pokemon Center where my ears are met with a cheery but familiar tune. The cherry tunes however are only met with the stained lives of those who inhabit the safe haven. I exhale and get my friends healed up. After, I talk to some of the residents.
A child saw Cubones mother die as she tried to escape Team Rocket. Yeah, they didn't put that in the 4kids anime huh?
Another says that Cubones skulls are worth a lot of money. If a Cubone wears its mothers skull, imagine what an intact Marowak skull will be worth.
I prepare to leave the Pokemon Center in fear of what I might next encounter. The girl in front of the Pokemon Tower asks me if I believe in ghosts. I say no and explain that Ghost type Pokemon are merely the evolution of gases that have mutated into cytoplasm. She laughs and says the white hand on my shoulder isn't real.
I kid you not. For the first time in any Pokemon game outside of a scripted event I see this girl walk backwards two steps.
I wait watching her for another 5 minutes, she doesn't do it again.
I talk to her about 20 more times, she doesn't do it again.
I wouldn't make such a big deal out of this if it was in any other town. She walked backwards after she saw the white hand on my shoulder in Lavender. This legitimately creeped me out.
Shivering, I avoid the pokemart considering I don't need to sell anything. I'll save my money for the big shop in Celadon. I won't feel watched there. Shortly after I leave to fight the trainers in the west. I see a trainer with a Growlithe and it reminds me that I will have to be rather lucky to nab myself a Growlithe in Route 7 or 8. If I don't, I'll consider getting a Flareon, if I do, Jolteon it is.
Nothing much to say about the small marathon of trainers. A few levels here and there. I avoided most of the trainers as I wanted to get to the Route where Growlithe might be. I just bit my lip and hoped for the best. Bleck, Pidgey. Can't win everything. If it was any consolation, I lost count how many Pokemon I fainted afterwards to get a Growlithe. But I can't let a 10% chance get me down, there is a lot of freedom now in the game so time for some errands.
I notice, as I'm flushing my money down the drain, that a shifty character is looking at a poster. That clothing looks familiar. I stretch my head around to his.
sssssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuupppppppppppppppppppppp?
He shouts a North Korean battle cry at me and challenges me to a battle.
Maybe I can pay my respects to Duglett. I think Gravy, Sucker and Flappers would like that. I'll check it out when I have to.

- First, I grab the Eevee. Actually looks kinda cute. What should I call this little guy? Morph. Yeah, sounds good.
- Secondly, I obtain a few key items. Coin Case, Elemental Stones, Drinks, other supplies. I almost buy revives when I realize it's a Nuzlocke. Too many items? Really? I sell Burn Heals etc because there is no ailments that will seriously endanger me apart from being frozen. I evolve Morph and I teach it some TM's: Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave and Body Slam. I'm putting a lot of faith in Morph.
- Thirdly I unlock the way to Saffron and therefore all the other cities.
- Next I get all the necessary machines including all those at the top of Celadon, Fly and Psychic.
- Finally, I heal and take a well deserved rest in the Casino where I proceed to waste an hour or so grabbing coins.
Wait, wrong game.
Session #11:
The Rockets in our Pockets
The Rockets in our Pockets
Calling Morph, Jolteon constantly in the draft wastes so much time...
This fight was a good time to test Morph. And of course, Morph destroyed the 2 Pokemon in as many thunderbolts. The grunt runs off as he spews out more of a language I don't speak and jumps into the abyss. I investigate the poster in which he was looking at and find a hidden switch...what an incredible design flaw. I press it and sure enough a secret entrance is revealed. Being the only one stunned by this discovery in the entire casino, despite being right next to the reception I tip toe down the stairs to find Team Rockets lair.
I hear the unmistakable sound of the Rocket theme and enter James Bond mode. Sneaking around corners, zapping grunts out cold and being the shadows until eventually the first guard and the subsequent guards see me in action. I pull out my silenced Jolteon to them all and our battles are easily won. Morph gains 2 levels and learns quick attack, which replaces...wow this moveset is pretty fine actually. I don't need Quick Attack thanks to Body Slam.
Afterwards I come to the incredibly slow moving treadmill...type things? I proceed in picking up the items in that room including TM07: Horn Drill, Moon Stone and a Nugget. I go down the stairs to fight a few more rockets when my Thunderbolt runs out of PP. No big deal, Body Slam will take it from here. Which it did. But Morph is poisoned and at half health.
Crap.
Constantly checking if Morph is okay I rush out of the building. He'll be fine, 16hp as I leave the casino and I have some super potions. 19 to be exact. I use only one potion and arrive to the nurse. A few seconds later and we're going in all guns blazing to take on the Rocket Boss. (Escape Rope..? No? Okay.)
I check the elevator to see if I can get down any quicker. What kind of elevator needs a key? Jeez. Anyway, Morph gets another two levels by the end of the next fight and leaves Sucker in the dirt. Sucker hasn't fought in ages so I thought I would give it a work out. Sucker takes point and we move around a couple of walls to find another item. I toss away the Teleport TM in order to get something even better. Double-Edge.
A couple minutes later we arrive battling the guy with the lift key with one extra Rare Candy in our pocket.
VS
Sucker had no trouble knocking out the Koffing but little did he know his own medicine would be almost fatal. A supersonic from Zubat almost cost him his life and I was not on the ball yet again. I heal him up with a super potion and the grunt inadvertantly drops the lift key.
Across the table is another item but. Heh. Surprise. Surprise. No room in my bag. I toss the Repels because they really weren't helping and pick up the Razor Wind TM. In which I teach to Sucker. Supersonic is lost, Razor Wind and a level is gained.
I find the nearest elevator and ascend to the guarded door.
VS
He throws out a Sandshrew which makes me switch out to Gravy. A quick Razor Leaf and he is gone. Sucker is switched back to handle the Ekans. However Flappers is there to take on the Sandslash.
VS
The next fight went the same way. Except I uses Sucker to take on the Arbok.
It's at this point the shutters reveal the Boss. A long walk down the corridoor and I see him sipping a drink, ankle on leg, sitting back looking at a laptop screen. Much like me. I reckon I could really get along with this guy if he didn't like...y'know...kill every Pokemon that didn't make a profit. He doesn't even pay that much attention to me as he compliments me on getting through his hideout. He reveals a pokeball and his name. Giovanni.

The Part of the Game which No-One Minds Doing, but Doesn't Particularly Like
The Part of the Game which No-One Minds Doing, but Doesn't Particularly Like
Sprites are getting too big for the spoilers. It looked cute with just a Bulbasaur and Charmander. Looks like I have to kill off someone! *Rubs hands*
VS
I probably should have swapped around Sucker just so Flappers wouldn't be at risk of harm. Onix's attack missed anyway so, easy enough. A Bubblebeam downed the Onix and Rhyhorn so all that was left was a Kangaskahn in which Gravy tanked. My first Leech Seed missed which gave Giovanni time to give it a Guard Spec. Shoot. Physcial attacks it is. My next Leech Seed landed and Kangaskahn set up a Rage. Cut did nothing and only angered the Kangaskahn. I decided to just go for it and criticaled with a Razor Leaf which took it down.
Giovanni compliments me in raising my Pokemon and turns into a Rocket, leaving behind the Silph Scope
OH WHAT A SURPRISE! NO SPACE IN THE BAG. WELL LARDY LARDY DA!
I drop some kind of item I forget because I didn't take note and pick up the Silph Scope. I take the elevator back to the Casino. While we are still in Celadon, I think this would be a good time to level Sucker by trouncing Erika. Cutting down the tree like a proffessional Yu-Gi-Oh card player, I casually walk down to the gym where I see a...rather strange old man looking through the window. I edge around the opposite wall and enter the gym as far away from the old man as possible, sidling against the door into the gym.
Like a magnet I am drawn to the girl scouts. Wait. Wait. Wait. That came out wrong.
VS
The Bellsprout went down easily as expected but Sucker is tempting fate here. Wrap and Paralysis meant it couldn't move until it had twelve HP left, until it then Leech Lifed the Weepinbell and knocked it out. I make a quick rest stop at the Pokemon Center and return to the action.
Despite Sucker having a move most effective against Grass and Poison types, I had to swap it out as it was constantly getting paralyzed. So Gravy brunted most of the trainers with Morph helping out here and there.
When I get to Erika she is admiring the weather inside the building. Come to think of it, to gym trainers get paid by the hour or something? Do they have to bring their own Pokemon? I had this conversation a while back about Brock with a few friends, he must constantly have to catch new Geodude and Onix to prevent them leveling up...
VS
Sucker is sent out first to fight a Victreebell of the same level, it's time to break the 30 level barrier for ma other budz. Oh and yeah. They are stronger in the original.
Confuse ray proves valuable throughout the math. Leech Life healing any damage dealt. After a few tedious turns the Victreebell falls without any damages. Sucker levels and shoots down the Tangela. Vielplume meets with Gravy and what a laughably pathetic attempt:
Poisonpowder - Doesn't affect Gravy
Cut - 1/3 damage
Poisonpowder - Doesn't affect Gravy
Cut - 1/3 damage
Poisonpowder - Doesn't affect Gravy

Win.
She hands over the Rainbow Badge and TM21: Mega Drain. Heading back to the Pokemon center I heal and store everything I am not going to use. I would teach Mega Drain to Sucker but that would mean getting rid of Leech Life, the only Bug type move in my entire arsenal. Super effective against: Poison, Grass and Psychic. (Perhaps Ghost I can't recall.) So Gravy learns a new move replacing Leech Seed.
I heal up and start moving west towards Lavender.

Session #13:
We Pay our Respects
We Pay our Respects
It 'aint dead till I'm dead BABY!
Jumping over everything I see, including the moon, I soon arrive at Lavender. Silph Scope safely in my bag as I enter the Pokemon Tower.
I see many people, old and young, weeping for their fallen Pokemon. I feel almost the same way when I find Dugletts grave stone.
"Here Rests Duglett"
"Playtime: 13:42 - Playtime: 14:17"
"We give our life so our brothers could live on."
I shed a tear and stand up, turning myself to the stairs. To my surprise I find Catchy looking at a gravestone of his own. Before long he notices me and acts in his casual way. At least Catchy treats his and other Pokemon well enough for them to survive.
VS
Sprites getting too much to fit on one line.
Finally I don't have to decide who should go against the Pidgey line. Morph can take care of this with no problem.
Sucker faced down the Exeggcute and took a measly 10 damage.
Morph zaps down Gyarados and Flappers floors the Charmeleon.
He tells me his Pokedex is slowly increasing with ghosts and Cubones. His tone seems to be lower, I think he's been getting more socially confident on his travels. I see and read the Gravestone he was at.
Ah...I see...
(I forgot to mention that when I was in James Bond mode, I overheard a conversation talking about the Rockets being the the Pokemon Tower, just go with it.)
These Rockets must be stopped! Whatever the cost!
I walk upstairs into the fog and see shadows moving around. Shadows appearing out of nowhere. Suddenly, I notice one behind me, quickly turn around in horror at it's beastly form.
It's a Cubone.
Sweet, a little lucky. One Great Ball and it's captured!
Wait...do I even want a Cubone? It learns it's only useful move, Bonemerang, at level 40-odd so there really is no point. I'll release it the next chance I get. After I put the pokeball back in my bag I look into the mist and almost see eyes staring at me. I swallow the last ounce of courage I have left, take a deep breath and walk into the dense fog.

Session #14:
Great Ghastly on the run from Giant Germanic Gorilla Gorgonzola
Great Ghastly on the run from Giant Germanic Gorilla Gorgonzola
NOW we get to the good sprites.
The fog became denser and colder. A figure came into my view as it turned the corner. Traipsing with its arms swinging with every step it took.
It reached its arm forward grabbing for any life it might steal in hope to regain its own. As it came closer while I was stunned it fear, pokeball in hand; it moans in that terrifying, cannibalistic moan:
"Fancy a battle?"
I drop my Pokeball and Morph stretches for battle. This more or less happened every time I noticed another trainer really. Got a Rare Candy, Morph wanted to learn Thundershock despite already knowing Thunderbolt and Flappers took on a few trainers of his own.
I arrive to the final set of stairs and feel a chill breeze, different from the fog. A ghost appeared before my eyes, it was the ghost of Cubones mother.
So it attacks strong trainers in hopes that it can finally be put to rest. Very Well. One Mega Drain is enough. It has departed.
I crack my knuckles and prepare to teach these Team Rocket goons the actual meaning of 'Resting in Peace'
The fog is much less dense up here but before I get prepared to manhandle the Rockets I bump into a high level Haunter. Lv. 28. Its never been that high for me before. I'd consider catching it if I hadn't already bumped into a Cubone.
It is floored and I take out all the Rockets with no problem and rescue Mr. Fuji.
We manage to make our way safely back to the Fuji residence and he gives me some advice and obviously, the Pokeflute. I heal my pals and also, drop of Necromacer before heading south.
Morph took out all the trainers south of Lavender and made Oysters out of them.
ALL.
OF.
THEM.
After some hearty fish food we arrive at the titanic Snorlax. Even its snores are enough to almost take me off my feet. I take the pokeflute out of my bag and put it to my lips.
Left, Up, Right, Left, Up, Right.
I hold the last note and the snoring stops. I put the Pokeflute back in my bag and wait for it to make the first move.
After a few seconds it attacks but luckily Morph is there to take the attack and retaliates with Thunderbolt. It tries to Rest but isn't awake for me to swiftly faint it and it goes down without a problem. I take my level and make my way to Fuchsia City.
I run down the bridge taking on a few more trainers and turn the corner. To my surprise, trainers clogged up the pathway, itching for a challenge. I retreat back to Vermillion in order to prepare for the onslaught of trainers, return to the coast and embrace the carnage.

Session #15:
Cockiness is the Devils Work
Cockiness is the Devils Work
OMG OMG OMG DRAMA OMG DRAMA OMG OMG
I adjust my hat and walk into the hell of trainers. This will be our biggest level jump yet.
I let my Pokemon run wild around the fields and across the ocean. Let this be the warning of the Elite 4 that I, Grabby, am coming for them.
Trainer after trainer we take down them all. Level after level, using rare candies come across as being slower and slower to use.
Sucker takes out all those who use the pathetic Bugs with its newly learned Wing Attack, and those stronger Psychics.
Flappers crumbles the pride of the fire types and crushes the inexperienced.
Morph eliminates all those in the sky.
Gravy snipes all the stragglers and leaves nothing standing.
After mowing through the maze I make my way through all of the trainers south. Before my Pokemon could go in 'all guns blazing', Gravy extended a foot and roared louder than Flappers ever could and proceeding in tearing apart every, single, Pokemon.
It was nothing less than that of a maniacs dream.
I loved it.
Gravy tearing apart everything in its wake. Not even fire or flying types were a match for it.
Then it hit me. My Pokemon weren't kings of a new era. They aren't that strong. They can't take an onslaught of this many trainers! This was a disaster, I got way too carried away and my party suffered.
Gravy could barely stand,
Flappers couldn't conjure up any water attacks,
and Sucker could hardly move its wings.
Morph was the only one even near to max HP, with no energy for its thunder attacks. Thank god for Body Slam. I've already used up all my Super Potions because of this attitude. I will NOT get through the rest of the game like this.
Morph had to be switched in and with it, half of its remaining health because of a critical hit. Luckily, Body Slam took care of most of them until an Oddish decided to live and Poisonpowder me. The last Pokemon. Poisoned Morph with 14 HP left. I picked up Morph and ran to the Pokemon Center as fast as I possibly could.
The cries of pain got louder and louder until silence. I stood there for a minute embracing the silence until I finally started walking with my head down towards the Pokemon center.
Morph is boxed and the rest of my Pokemon are healed.
I take a seat at the back of the building and hold my face in my hands.
Things are gonna have to change.
I'm so sorry guys!

Safari Safari, What can we Catch?
Safari Safari, What can we Catch?
There is gonna have to be just over 50 more updates to get through the whole Kanto Pokedex, so I'm gonna try and use the sprites sparingly. Sorry if you were looking forward to one and it got cut out! Wait...this is a place for a cheap laugh not news...*falls through the floor*
I wipe my tears and grit my teeth, look at my pals and move on to the Safari Zone. I hand in my 500 Pokedollar fee and head straight on in. It'll give my party a rest.
First thing I find is a Nidorina, I obviously would have preferred a Scyther or even a Chansey,
but we'll try to catch it anyways, I got a good few Moon Stones to spare.
*Throws rock*
*Nidorina gets angry*
*Nidorina ran*
Well that's that. As I stroll through the Safari Zone, I encounter:
And obtain:
It's at this point, to my surprise, that I run out of time.
...
I pay an extra 500 and waltz back in. On my second run I get the Double Team TM, Gold Teeth and the thing we all come for. HM03!
On the way back the the Pokemon Center I decide to run some more errands.

On the way back the the Pokemon Center I decide to run some more errands.
[*] Teach Flappers surf which replaces Water Gun
[*] Give the Gold Teeth to the Warden and get HM04 Strength
[*] Surprisingly, Gravy couldn't learn strength, so I give it to Flappers replacing Bubblebeam.
[*] Using Strength, I move the Boulder and get my 5th Rare Candy of the game.
[*] Finally I heal my Pokemon ready for Koga
