Hard Travels​
I really need to widen my vocabulary...
I am stopped in my tracks as I see Catchy walk down the narrow passage, one hand in his pocket, one hand batting his hair up.
His smugness only contributed to the silence that followed.
We both had all 8 badges. We both had powerful Pokemon. Without saying a word we do what trainers do best.

I always considered this to be the hardest rival battle

Hydra opened with Ice Beam and took down the Pidgeot without being dragged down to half health. Rhyhorn went down even easier.
It was a risk putting Sucker against an Exeggcute, certainly something I won't be doing in the next fight, but it wasn't too bad.
Alakazam was to be sent out next and Shnore was waiting for him. Amnesia twice to be safe, fortunately he used recover twice, and Body Slam did the rest.
And by "Body Slam did the rest" I mean, it took out Charizard and Gyarados too. He survived with 56 HP and the battle was over.

Claiming that I could never be a Pokemon master, he walks off laughing.
Before I knew it I was showing my badges to the gate keepers and staring at the entrance to Victory Road.
Here it is.
The final test.
I take a deep breath and enter.
The maze was full of trainers. Powerfull trainers. The kind who could have put my entire team down if they had the chance.The cave was filled with puzzles. The kind where only the strongest Pokemon could assist. However, it was rewarding. TM's and items alike littered the ground.
As I walked down the dark pathway, I noticed a light to my left. It was fire!
The fire dimmed when I looked towards it and I thought it might just be a Pokemon or two trainers fighting, so I continued on. I'll investigate later.
Most of my PP for moves ran out. Ice Beam, Body Slam, Leech Life. My Pokemon were at their limit. That's when I saw the exit. I crawled to the sunlight and finally. I was here. The Indigo Plateau.
My Pokemon were under leveled. VERY under leveled. Hydra, my strongest, was lv.46. Shnore and Sucker being lv.43. So I grinded and grinded and grinded. If they think I am gonna face the Elite 4 without a Dragonite they are sorely mistaken.
I boxed Hitmonchan, Nessy and Droopy. I fought the Elite 4 with 3 Pokemon before and they were lower level. I also withdrew all my PP restoring items and X Accuracies.

Let's try not to get frozen.

Dragonite / Hydra: Lv. 55
Snorlax / Shnore: Lv. 54

Session #24:

Cold Blooded​
We've come so far...
First up is Lorelie. The Ice Queen.

The temperature of the room was to be expected, but I wasn't expecting it to be this cold. It was almost like battling in an ice cube.
Confident in her abilities to beat even Blaine. She sends out Dewgong and Shnore is there to meet it.
A few Amnesia and nothing does any damage. We are free to Body Slam away. Her Slowbro took a few more hits than the others, which did put a dent in Shnores PP. But we made it through the first battle with no serious injuries.

Second is Bruno. His love for Rage Candy Bars are unparalleled.

The room was littered with split boulders and yet another heavy atmosphere. After I kicked a few pebbles out of the way I challenged Bruno.
His two Onix are countered by Hydra's Ice Beam and his fighting types are useless against Suckers Wing Attack. Another simple fight. Although, Bruno is always easy.

Next is Agatha. The mix of Poison and Ghost.

The room felt cold. Not ice cold but there was certainly a chill. Nothing in the room to show what Agatha trained with. How fitting.
This fight didn't go nearly as smoothly as the other two. For one, I didn't have any Psychic moves and a wide variety of my movepool didn't work against her Ghost types. So Shnore couldn't do anything and Hydra was limited to Ice Beam. Not to say, that was a bad thing.
Either way, all three of my Pokemon were pretty beat up. Arbok and Golbat were no laughing matter. Fortunately. Her more powerful Gengar got frozen from an Ice Beam. So I healed up in the fight and used Sucker so he could get a bit more experience.

Now for the last of the Elite 4. Lance. The Dragon Tamer.

The walk was intimidating enough but I was confident. His dragons were terrifying but I knew what to do.
Now...do you want to know why this was the best fight? Would you like to know...what makes this move and item combination...the most overpowered thing in an RPG?
Horn Drill and X-Accuracy. 12 X-Accuracies to be exact. All used one after another, occasionally interrupted by a Full Restore, used on Hydra.

What followed next was chaos.
1HKO - Gyrados
1HKO - Dragonaire
1HKO - Dragonaire
1HKO - Dragonite
1HKO - Aerodactyl (With Ice Beam)

Lance tells me that although I had beaten the Elite 4, I am not yet champion. Somehow, Catchy managed to become champion just before me.

The Final Battle​
I walked in sync with my breaths towards my rival. He stood there, smug as day. He talks to me in his usual tone. I didn't pay attention. I was solely focused on how to beat him. How to get around his Pokemon.
Before I knew it, his Pidgeot was staring me in the face and I sent out Hydra.

Pidgeot went first, naturally, and dealt an amazing amount of damage to Hydra. Only half of Hydra's health remained. Luckily, we did at least double that amount with Ice Beam and Pidgeot was fallen.
Rhydon was a joke, I have never seen that Rhydon even use a move before.
He sent out his Alakazam pretty early. Shnore had no trouble taking it down. A few Amnesia and Body Slams and he was down.
Now. Gyarados. Sucker took the stage and confused it straight away. Leech Life didn't do much, Wing Attack didn't do much and Gyarados snapped out of confusion after hitting itself twice.
Sucker was swapped out for Shnore, who took the full brunt of a Hyper Beam. Something that would have undoubtedly killed Sucker. Body Slam to the rescue and Gyarados fell.
Sucker was swapped in again to fight the Exeggcutor. Confuse ray a few Leech Lifes and a Wing Attack and we were facing Charizard. All my Pokemon were at low health and I couldn't afford to slip up.
Confuse Ray landed but the Charizard saw through it, used Slash and Sucker hit the ground.
Now it's confused. Now is my chance. Hydra was switched in and used it's Hyper Beam that it learned when it evolved. It survived with very little health. Another Slash hit Hydra and brought it down to the same amount of HP. Hydra had to recharge, but no worries, Charizard hit itself and the battle was over.

Sucker died. But he gave his life for us to get here. I could see the shock in Catchy's face. His reign was over, already.
I heard a familiar voice behind me and I turned around. It was Oak! He congratulates me and we walk into the Hall of Fame.
Our efforts are recorded for all of time and we are given the title of Pokemon Master!

Sucker died a martyr, fighting to let you take the title of Champion. May he rest in peace.
But yeah, congratulations on finishing the Nuzlocke! Are you going to take out Mewtwo?
Also, I don't remember any "Marry the Marowak," who was that?

Capturing the Elements​
OH BWOI OH BWOI OH BWOI
It feels good to be back home, playing some good ol' NES. Shnore sleeping in the corner and Hydra sitting next to me. Even though I am only ten years old and champion of this underground sport, my mother says I need to move out. I must have earned enough money to be a place in Cerulean right? Or maybe even Celadon.

I look in my wallet a fly, flies out. Oh yeah, I spent in all on Milk, Eggs and Magikarp...
My mom yells at me and tells me to go catch some rare Pokemon to sell. I stick Shnore and Hydra back in their pokeballs and start catching some legendaries.

First problem, Hydra can't learn Fly. So straight away I am stuck walking from town to town. Good point to pick up the Old Amber from Pewter though. Don't know why I would need it now but it's something to get. Gasping for water and dragging my face in the dirt I finally arrive at Cerulean and get something to drink. I don't know why I was so dehydrated but that's what Kanto will do if you have been the Champion for all of 10 minutes.
Before I get to the Power Plant, I withdrew Nessy to surf me there and bought a few Great Balls. Why Great Balls? Because I didn't want to travel to the Pokemon League to get some Ultra Balls.
Well at least Zapdos will be able to learn Fly. However, just outside the Power Plant, I encounter an Electabuzz. Alright!
I catch it with the 3rd Great Ball and enter the plant.

Pokeballs littered the power plant. Looks like whatever happened here, people left in a hurry. Well, more for me! I reach out the the first pokeball I see but it swivels round revealing its true form!
VOLTORB! I KNEW I WOULD SEE YOU ONE DAY! AND I KNEW I WOULD KILL YOU IN THE SAME MOMENT!
One Hyperbeam and it rolls down the hill. Job done.
As a matter of fact, almost all the Pokeballs here had a false ID. So I had to take them out, the old fashion way.

I hope the first Pokemon on every route thing doesn't count for Legendaries.
After laying down the law, I finally reach the legendary Zapdos. Its sharp wings. Its lightning quick reactions. It's...about to eat me...ok let's catch it now!

An Ice Beam from Hydra was more than enough to damage it, almost killing it, but as we all know, that's perfect for capturing a legendary. Begin spamming Great Balls. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 CAUGHT!
Caught the Zapdos on my 13th Great Ball.
I'll name it Zipzong. Dunno why BUT NOW WE CAN SAIL THE SKIES!

I zip to Cinnabar and travel along the wobbly blue land to Seafoam Islands.
It was a cold place. Some of the roofs had collapsed so the light shined off the never melting ice to give this crystal effect. Next to the running water it really was a sight to behold.

I took a few steps in, rubbing my arms and I am to find a Seel almost immediately. Seel had one of those sprites that didn't change much but looked a heck of a lot better when it did change. I run for my life and come to a simple 'push the block' puzzle. Shnore shoves them down the holes, giving no care to the Pokemon or people below and jump into the glorious, white snow.
I hear a loud cry of a terrifying creature, feel a cool wind and looked behind me.

Considering Ice Beam wouldn't cut it this time and Hydra would be annihilated by any Ice attack; I used Shnore for this encounter. Luckily, Body Slam paralyzed and brought it down to low enough HP. I begin spam-
No joke. 1 Great Ball. Dead serious. I even name it 1GRBALL, just because I am so serious.
After getting lost on my way out, the final destination for the legendary birds is Victory Road; so I head to the Indigo Plateau.

So that was what that light was. (lol bad attempt at foreshadowing)
I wonder through the Darkness until I come to the light in which was Moltres.

Moltres wasn't all that threatening so Hydra swifted it down to low health and a not so satisfying 23 pokeballs later, it was caught.

All Legendary Birds have been captured.

A great narration at the beginning there. Hydra curled up next to you, Shnore sleeping in the corner... I can just picture it in my head.

The Genetic Pokemon​
So after capturing the three birds, it's still not enough to buy a cheap bungalow in Saffron so I turned my head to the Cerulean Cave. Many mysterious Pokemon live there, I can capture two and two only. From the Pokemon League I travel to Cerulean where I pass Nugget Bridge, Surf down the river and enter the darkness.

I could hear running water, and occasional echoes of a Pokemon cry from the darkness. I ventured onward, hoping to find some form of rare Pokemon to sell. Hopefully a Magikarp...hey why aren't I fishing for those? 500 pokedollars a piece, can't complain. Those guys in Viridian will buy it for 700, haha, suckers!
While coming up with, well frankly genius, schemes to rip people off, a Dodrio came up to me. Considering Dodrio are the bomb I caught it and named it [O]

Its name looks like a camera in the game so I went along with it. Within the dark depths of the cave I scoured the area for the rarest of the rare. I encountered many a foe, but nothing too challenging for Hydra. Not even the level 64 Kadabra.

After picking up many rare items and encountering strong Pokemon I come to the oh-so-fabled Mewtwo.
I healed my pals up and sent out Shnore.

As with all other Psychic Pokemon I fought with, I used Amnesia twice. Thankfully he didn't attack even after I used Body Slam, which Paralyzed him.
Now...again...I am being serious. First Great Ball.

Ball.
I was amazed and speechless at the same time. I saved straight away and escaped the cave. I still couldn't believe that I caught a Mewtwo. However, I was even more surprised that I didn't have enough to get a mansion on Cinnabar. So I flew to Fuchsia in hopes for Safari gold.

One more update and this is done. (Finally)

I KEEP FORGETTING TO DO THESE...well not much point now. FINAL UPDATE!
I ended up paying some cash to the safari zone which I then remembered that I already caught a Pokemon here. I was annoyed when my first Pokemon was a Scyther. Well...not annoyed. Steaming. I would have loved to have a Scyther and Dragonite lead the charge against the Elite 4.
Well, anyways, I saved and left the game for a while; leaving my in-game persona behind with it. I had to have a think about what rare Pokemon I could catch. If the birds weren't enough and Mewtwo wasn't enough. Who could buy me a house?
I thought of a great idea, jammed another rod of uranium into the battery slot and blasted it to full power!
I walked out of the safari park and the guy at the desk asked me if I want to go into the safari zone...
Strange, I pressed no but he still let me through. What a Slowbro.

I took a walk to the Pokemon center and to the parallel route. Finally my plan can come to frui-
I was interrupted by the Safari PA and warped back to the entrance. Annoyed by the PA's attitude and unprofessional behavior, I filed a complaint. I stapled it to his face and was blown away by what I saw outside.

Scared, I flew off just like anyone who visited glitch city first would do.
My random fumbling lead me to fly to Viridian. (Did I really need to make a reason for this?)
For nostalgia sake (Yeah, nostalgia) I talked to the old man giving out Pokemon catching lessons. So I sat and listened.
After he shut up. I flew to cinnabar and rode the waves along the East coast for no legitimate reason.

Wow a Goldu- *notices level* WOAH MA GOD​

Hey wait a minute...I CAN GET A LICKITUNG WITH THIS! I caught it, sacrificing two legendary birds, but I CAN GET A LICKITUNG WITH THIS!
When the battle ended I looked north and encountered another foe. It's name was 'wgksvbdnvsruk.z,dgbvd' and it was a shape I has never seen before.

I caught it, thinking it wasn't a Pokemon and flew to Fuchsia once again to get my Lickitung. I skipped along with my favorite Pokemon: A dragon, A sea beast, a bird on fire, a genetic freak, a big duck and a horrible disgusting mess of something I can only describe as

"Fivf"

I came to the guy who was offering Lickitung and showed him my Golduck. Turns out he wanted a Slowbro.

"That's my Golduck!"
