Playthrough Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red - Mission Complete!

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

A rather large update with no important fights so I had to add a few more sprites in to liven it up.

Three posts in a row alright!

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

"North Korean battle cry as he challenges me to a battle"

Best. Line. Ever.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

A good point to end, no?

Bumping for new update

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

Reading this nuzlocke is quite entertaining. I can not, for the life of me, read the updates with a straight face.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

People find this funny! My life is complete! Thanks Grizzly.

For those struggling to follow, I am working on the table to show the party(ies?)(s'?) moves and the other side for bag items. It's not necessary but it makes for easy reading.
Also new update as usual.

I had to change the title because I fought exactly zero Ghastly.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

A lazy new update but business as usual next update.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

Bump, New Update.

Next time, it hits and hits hard. We lose someone.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

If it is Morph, I will hurt youHere's hoping it's Cubone.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

Oh damn. I hope it isn't Morph. I can't wait to find out who we lose.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red - The Dramatic Nuzlocke

I decided to put Necromacer back in his box because he learned nothing useful.
We fight for Duglett and our fallen sister.
Without noticing I am adding genders, I really am getting attached...*starts crying*

New Update

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red - The Dramatic Nuzlocke

/me drops to his knees and raises fists into the air. "NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red - The Most Organised and Detailed of all the Nuzlockes

Safari Zone is a fun place if you get everything on the first run. New Update

Got a good idea on how to use the 5 Rare Candies.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

Okay, I need to mention a few things.
New Update
The first post hit its character limit I think, so before I sorted it out, it was all glitchy and the table had to be removed. (Evidence is where the table was.)
Updates will now be posted as bumping posts rather than me saying "lololol new update" Sprites and spoilers will be on the first post, however past Session '#16, they will not have the Nuzlocke recordings in them, in its place, a link to the post.

So.

Session #17:

What...is...HAPPENING?!
This Nuzlocke is a mess of Past and Present tense...
I stand in front of the Fuchsia city gym and remember there is a few trainers to the south I have not yet fought. Sucker gains a level from fighting both of them and I turn back to the gym.
I enter and fight the trainer to the right straight away, forgetting there is one to the left. I had switched to Flappers to get some extra experience.

As soon as Flappers gets the first hit in, the Hypno uses Psychic.
Flappers falls to the ground in one hit. My ears are filled with intense ringing.
Flappers, the huge mythical beast just dropped to the ground in one hit. My heart was racing. Gravy and Sucker were sure to fall. I sent Gravy out first and he managed to get a few cuts out before he succumbed to another psychic. I couldn't believe what was happening. Am going to fall to a normy? Is this where it ends? While I was speechless and barely standing, Sucker Leech Seeded the Hypno and it fainted. He cried at me then at the door and with my remaining energy I ran out if the gym.

This...this...can't be happening. I fall to the ground with my hands covering my face apart from my eyes. This is too much. I can't finish this. I can't fight Koga. I can't fight Sabrina. I won't be able to-
Sucker interrupted my thoughts with a cry. He looked me in my eyes and made me change my entire mood...at least, until I put my loyal friends in the PC.

We planned what to do next when we calmed down. I uttered to Sucker that we have to do this. For the ones we have lost. We've lost our hard hitters. We've lost everything that held this team together, we have nothing left. We only have a few patches of Grass we haven't explored yet. We need them. We need new recruits. How do we train them? In whatever way we can. Wild Pokemon. Unfought trainers. Day care. Rare candies. We need a tougher team to fight Koga and we need them for the long run. We need a new Pokemon to Surf. We need. More. Firepower.
Before I got to far ahead of myself, Sucker put his wing on my shoulder. I took a deep breath.

We'll need to fight Koga before we get any progress. We can't use Surf beforehand. I have the Super Rod. Remember that guys house? He had a small lake behind it. We can sure find some Goldeen or maybe even Seaking.
Poison type Pokemon will be of use, we can find one of them down the cycling road. Plus a load of experience. And on the way to this forsaken place there were a few patches of Grass. Maybe we can replace...find a substitute for Gravy.

That's right Koga...we aren't going down this easily.

As soon as I leave Fuchsia I find a Ditto. What luck! I thought Ditto were only available in Cerulean Cave or the Mansion. My Great Balls miss at first but as soon as a little damage is dealt, it gets caught like a rat in a trap. I name it droopy because its so friendly and feel like jelly.

132.gif

This Ditto sprite is THE most adorable thing ever.

I'll have to play carefully with Droopy however, this guy will be taking a lot of hits in the future. But I realize that this is the best Pokemon to out in the day care. Doesn't learn any other move. Before long, I head back to Fuchsia to get him healed up. I also just remember about mentioning that small lake in someones back garden. I fish there for a while and...!

060.gif

Poliwag...level 10.
I turn to Sucker. Well...we need all the help we can get. I catch it and call it...Waggles. (idk)
I quick look at its details and reveals that it is just a water type. I think it evolves into Water/Fighting next but I'm not so sure. Either way we will have either a Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee to cover for it. And a Lapras to cover the Water types after Silph.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

Flappers? Gravy? NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Oh god, that monster Hypno. It's a Poison Gym, not a Psychic Gym! At least Sucker didn't die, then you would've been stuck with Necromacer. Also, you should maybe try to get an Oddish, they can be pretty good. And get the Hitmonchan.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

Its a simple update but the session was a little tedious. NEVERTHELESS we are back on form and ready for the fight again.

Session #18:

The Turning Point
ZOMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT OLD FART DOESN'T ACCEPT HM KNOWING POKEMON!!!!1

132.gif

I travel to Cerulean so I can put Droopy in the Day Care.

147.gif
063.gif

Those coins come handy when buying a Dratini (Lv. 18) and Abra (Lv. 9) from the casino. Hydra and TradeFoder (Trade Fodder) are their nicks. Odd levels too.
143.gif

I deposit everything except my HM's TM's, healing items and Great Balls. Withdrawing all my TM's and Pokeflute.
I go to catch the Snorlax a lot easier thanks to Hydras Thunder Wave. I nickname it Shnore.

106.gif
107.gif

Next I heal up and Sucker proceeds to take on the Fighting mini gym. He struggled up until the last fight where, amazingly, he one shotted the Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee.
I agreed with Dalkia198 and chose Hitmonchan, those type moves it learns next will be of great use. It's nicknamed Ali.

122.gif

I travel to the route next to Pewter and trade TradeFoder for a Mr.Mime.
It already has a nickname so I'm afraid I can't pretend to be funny. :/

075.gif

Withdrawing Droopy from the Day-Care I try to but Waggles in the Day-Care. But he just pushes the tadpole back in my face and says that he can't take him.
I shout "AW MA GAWD FIYNE TAYKE MA DRATAYNAY JEEZ!"
He accepted without a question and I kick his wall down as I leave.

124.gif

I level up Waggles to level 25 on the Bike road so I can finally swap it for a Jynx. Ice Psychic will be invaluable. Heck, Lorelie has one.

So, Sucker is level 40, we have four Pokemon that are level 30 (Ali, Droopy, Hydra and Shnore) And the rest will prove useful as they level, fight and evolve. If only we could Surf. That would make things so much easier.
4 Rare candies (one used for Waggles) in the pocket.

Swift was taught to Hydra in place of Wrap.
Counter was taught to Ali.
Something was taught to Shnore.
Psychic was taught to Jynx.

Revenge

The team is ready to fight but it needs to improve fast. Constant trips to the Pokemon center and Jynx dying easily proved that.
The rest came close. Snorlax was more or less the wall, blocking Selfdestruct and poison moves. His high HP was a godsend.

I used all my Rare Candies, including the one I found, on Hydra after she evolved into a Dragonaire. By the time we had taken out all the trainers and collected all the items, almost everyone was past level 35.

Should probably mention I was taking on Silph Co.
...nah they will figure it out

I warp to Catchy and he walks towards me with that cheeky grin on his face.
I'll admit, I thought about this. I thought about this a lot. It's when the rival fights start to become a little scary.

187.gif
VS
137.gif

I sent out Hydra in order to bypass Pidgeots Sand Attack and whittle it down to nothing with Swift.
Ali took down Exeggcute with Fire Punch without any worries.
Droopy transformed into Gyarados and used Dragon Rage against his transformee.
Now, Alakazam. I swap out Droopy and throw out Shnore. Amnesia proved invaluable. Three of those and Psybeam did tackle damage. It was beautiful. After a few headbutts, it learned Body Slam and Charizard suffered a quicker but similar fate.
How's that for change? If I think like that we may actually make it through this game.

I go back to the Pokemon Center and heal up my Pokemon for the next fight against Giovanni but not before getting the Lapras and nicknaming it Nessy.

187.gif
VS
108.gif

How did it go? Droopy transformed into Nidorina and spammed Fury Attack. Shnore took care of the rest with Body Slam.

Reaching over to the presidents pocket, I nab the Master Ball and go on my merry way.

I take a detour before rushing to Koga. I put Nessy in the Day Care and bought a few Full Heals. This proved useful as they liked to paralyze and poison a lot. (A LOT!)
Shnore and Sucker took the Koga fight as easy as it should have been the first time I entered.
I take the badge and the Toxic TM and leave.

With Morph, Gravy and Flappers avenged, I pick up Nessy from the Day Care as I walk off to a familiar sight. Pallet Town.

owait i need 2 du safrom lolololol

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red - Dude! Stop Deleting the Forum Sprites! Ya Killin me!

Like in the Nuzlocke Race, I deleted the finished update, so I'm gonna sum up what happened in the update. Had to write it all today ¬_¬

Session #20:

Back to Basics
That was a long and good update too. Find-Replace Dark Cave w/ Rocky Tunnel.
So I head to Saffron to take on Sabrina and I eventually find myself fighting all the trainers in the gym. I come to Sabrina and Shnore did his usual strat.
Amnesia
Amnesia
Body Slam

Marsh Badge get.
I take and eat the useless Psywave TM and rob the money. So, now to head to Pallet Town.
I drag myself to Vermillion and through Diglett Cave. I come out at Pewter City and stroll through Viridian.
Viridian just seems to be something to do when one plays through but when go through it again in R/B/Y or G/S/C you realize it's sort of an initiation for trainers. It's a sign of a well designed game.
ENOUGH OF THAT WE GOT ROUTE ONE TO LISTEN TO YO
DA DA DA DADA DA DA DA DADA DA DA DA DADA DUDU
DA DA DA DADA DA DA DA DADA DA DA DA DADA DUDU
DAAA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DADA!
DA DADA DADADA DADA DU DU
REPEAT!
I was listening to that for an hour.

I arrive at Pallet, pay a visit to Mother and Professor Oak, who was keen to see my progress in the Pokedex.
102 Seen
24 Caught
Catch different Pokemon he says. That's impossible I says. Too bad he says.

I leave in a grumpf and throw Nessy into the sea. I surf as hard as I could southward but I still eventually fight every trainer in the universe.
Sure enough, I soon arrive at the remote island of Cinnabar. I heal my Pokemon and start preparing for the Elite 4. You may think this is a little early but we have to get through it without any revives.

Alert
Boring Speculation - Boring Speculation - Boring Speculation

I was considering putting Ali and Droopy in the box but I could imagine them both being very useful. Ali can learn more TM's than expected and Droopy could be of use against Agatha and Lance.
Despite them being under leveled, I think Hydra should get experience priority. Dragonite is gonna be awesome for the Elite 4 and Catchy.
Droopy can risk being a few levels behind but I can't get carried away. I don't what it to lose half of its HP before it even transforms.
Nevertheless I walked into the Pokemon mansion, deciding to make my decision later.

EDIT: Added memories to the first post.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red - Dude! Stop Deleting the Forum Sprites! Ya Killin me!

Beep, Boop, Video Games.

Session #21:

Cinnabar Sights
This Mansion is pretty spooky.
As I enter, I immediately see a Koffing. I catch it, just in case Koffing is the next Pokemon to revive the team when everyone dies, and it is sent to the first box.
I move on, fighting nothing but Grimer and Koffing, and make it through halfway of the mansion.
I notice some documents on the table telling me about some kind of Mew? I'll have to ask Bill about that. I don't think it will be a Pokemon that learns all that much. Let's move on.

Hydra fought the trainers; Shnore and Sucker fought the hordes upon hordes of undead poisonous Pokemon. We finally got to the top of the Mansion where I thought no more, stuck on some repels and avoided the trainers.
Soon enough I got the Blizzard TM and the Solarbeam TM along with the Secret Key and Escape-Roped outta there.

I healed up and unlocked the gym. I find that Catchy has already beaten this gym. I have no idea how since the door was locked but whatevs.
I walk up to the first question machine and it asks me:
"Does Caterpie evolve into Butterfree?"

Well, no, it evolves into a Metapod, then Butterfree. Basic knowledge. I get it wrong somehow, as with all the other questions and fight the trainers in the gym until I come to a very strange old man.
He breathes fire out of his neck and then challenges me to a battle.

187.gif
VS
107.gif

This fight was rough. Critical hits were unheard of.
Hydra and Shnore, yet again, handled most of the fight, dealing damaging moves but also taking damaging moves. No-one died but Shnore and Sucker were very close to. Their levels worried me though, I feel a little underleveled.

Blaine then spat out a badge, money and a TM. I consider it a successful fight and walk outside.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

While you're still at the island, you should probably find Missingno get that Kabuto revived. After all, you might need an extra Surfer for the 8th gym. But man, way to bounce back from the near-wipe.

RE: Another Nuzlocke - Pokémon Red

I was given a second chance and it was all thanks to Sucker.

Revisiting the Viridianest of Cities
I used to write quite a bit in these updates...wrote them well too...
I heal up after that heated fight and revive the fossil I withdrew from the PC. The lab was a fresh sight. Fellow trainers looking for a calm trade and not trying to kill me and my friends. I probably would trade with one of them if I had the right Pokemon. Either way, Kabuto was ready to be revived after death and I threw him at a computer.

I levitated to Viridian and squeezed through the gym door.
The atmosphere was heavy. The air was heavy. The trainers were breathing heavy. The Pokemon were breathing heavy. The heavy breathing trainers were the reason why the air, and subsequently the atmosphere, was heavy. Heavy, not in a literal sense, but in a metaphorical sense. It wasn't hard to breath per say, although a window needed to be open, but the heaviness of the air, contributed to a tense, quiet and overall heavy environment. By heavy, I don't mean the gym had its gravity turned up to 4, but my shoulders dropped from the intense heaviness, created by the heavy breathing foes..

A few heavy battles later I face the final gym leader of Kanto, Giovanni, hoping to take over the Pokemon League.
I engage him one last time and an fierce fight followed.
Shnore, Hydra and Sucker all got involved and took some some damage.
Amnesia couldn't be used as no special moves were being used.
I didn't want to use Nessy because it would be a waste of experience.

With honor, he realized that he got beat by a 10 year old and disbanded Team Rocket. The point in the game with the most character development...or any.
He flapped his hands slowly and flew off into the distance.

With all eight badges and a slightly under leveled team. I could finally go to the Pokemon League.
BUT WERT A MERNERT!

Catchy wants to test his skills in Pokemon training.
I want to go to Victory Road but YOU MUST GRIP THOSE HORSES! Catchy wants to battle.

Team:
Dragonaire / Hydra Lv.43
Golbat / Sucker Lv. 43
Snorlax / Shnore Lv. 43
Hitmonchan / Ali Lv. 36
Lapras / Nessy Lv. 27
Ditto / Droopy Lv. 31
