Ask a Play! Pokémon Question

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Do you get paid for judging a tournament (in this case, a Battle Road)? I've heard that it's not mandatory, and that if you do, it's usually in packs.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

The compensation you get is up to your Tournament Organizer.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

I've never been to a Pokémon event before, nor do I really have any experience with making decks (I have played before, but just casual playing against my friends). I'm thinking of going to Battle Roads, and I have just a few questions...
  1. Are Battle Roads good for a beginner?
  2. Would my parent(s) be able to play? I read that they lend cards out for decks... could they does this for my parent(s)?
  3. Could someone just give me a brief explanation of Battle Roads, what goes on, the prizes, etc? :D

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

1) Yes as long as you know how to play the game.

2) Players are responsible for bringing their deck. If you need to borrow cards you'd have to ask one of the other players who may or may not have the cards you need. Your PTO will provide a Player Id if your parents do not have one.

3) You play in a Swiss environment so you play each round. You will face the player on the pairings sheet then report the result to your PTO. Prizes are 4 packs for first and second, and 2 packs for third and fourth. The top three also get a Victory Cup card that matches what place they got. Depending on your performance, you may receive Championshhip Points.

too bad you're incorrect

Juniors- born 2002 or later
Seniors- born '98, '99, 2000, or '01
Masters- born '97 or earlier

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Grant has the correct years. Seniors is always a 4 year gap. You just need to remember the start year for Juniors (or Masters), then count 4, and you'll know the lot.

It's natural for friends to lend cards to friends every so often...but therein lies the rub. You'd probably only lend a card to someone you know, and you'd be sure that person would give it back later. Players bring their own decks and nowhere are other players required to lend cards to others. But if you're building a deck and you know that a friend of yours would be willing to lend you a card for a tourney, they probably would. (For example, I'm borrowing 1 Mewtwo and 1 Registeel for BRs, but I'm going to give them right back when the tourney's over.)

0% unless it is one awarded for winning States or Regionals in which case it is 100%.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Does anyone know when/where Florida's Regionals are going to be? I heard they were in October, but no idea when.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

I've got the same question regarding Southern Calfiornia.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

I found out that Florida's Regionals are on October 13th, but I still couldn't find the location.

There should be a guide as to how to use the Tournament Locator on Pokemon.com.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Thanks, King Arceus!

When/where are Georgia Regionals?
