BDIF (NXD-PLB)

VirGen Tier 1? I don't think I can see it. Maybe Tier 1.5, But After Testing, I don't think VirGen Compares to Plasma ATM

I've tried several combinations with Cradilly - probably best so far starts with MewTwo EX (nice thing is even without fast Cradilly still have a solid chance vs. most decks). Get Gardevoirs down (for 2nd have tried Dusknoir / Leavanny / Serperior / Gallade / Magnezone - work in progress) & can really do some massive damage. A fun one needing little energy is Plasma Kyurem with Cursed Shadow Chandelure / Slippery Soles Vanilluxe / Dusknoir.

VirGen will be very popular as so many people love grass type & have been waiting to play it. However, it is likely to be VERY expensive to build right away. Grass just makes it easier to kill Squirtles which everyone targets anyway, so less likely to get away with a less than optimal first couple turns. Does anyone else see Victini EX becoming more popular ? One shot either grass EX without even an energy if have Skyla & ultra ball (if don't start with it) and Victory Piece not prized.

Plasma decks will need more scrappers or Chatot (Salamence ability discards tools also but that's a stage 2) for the many Silver Mirrors likely to see, and people will certainly try to make Haxorus work, will have to see how much it affects those decks.

I can't see Victini EX growing more popular just considering it only really beats one deck; as it kind of gets destroyed by Plasma and Blastoise. It could be a play for a few BR's in extremely Genesect heavy areas, but otherwise, I don't think it'll become anything more than a random meta call.

I actually used to agree with the concept that V/G isn't Tier 1. I think the main issue is that people are thinking too objectively; V/G doesn't need to JUST have Genesect. From Drifblim to Sawk to Bouffalant and so on, there's a bajillion different options that can be used with it (heck, the standard straight up Virizion/Genesect only really did well at one tournament in Japan, and my assumption is that it was a lot more powerful with Energy Switch). It's versatility is it's power; not the 200 damage aspect which is what all the hype is about (although I will admit G Booster has its uses). Do I think it's BDIF? Not at all. But I would be surprised if it wasn't Tier 1, and I'm interested in seeing what combos people come up with for it.

As a note, Chatot is useless. Due to the fact that it's Plasma, it doesn't even discard Silver Mirrors.

Aha good point - hadn't even considered that with Chatot, so it would be pretty useless in plasma decks. Of course if you want another (possibly re-useable) option for getting rid of Ace Spec or other tools, it could be a tech option in some decks.

I see. I've been Testing Blastoise and Plasma Decks A lot lately. My friends recently built a deck. Virily. Thats Right. Cradily+Virizion EX. This Absolutely Demolished Blastoise. This Variant uses Ampharos + Frozen City To Rack a Constant 50 Damage PER ENERGY. Ampharos DRX. I will attach a photo. This Absolutely Crushed Every Blastoise Variant My League Had to Offer. And the Best Part? Only 8 Energies. 4 Grass / 4 Prism. It's not exactly VirGen but Its a huge threat to almost any Blastoise. Virizion Variants > Just Plain VirGen IMO.

Yeah Amphorus / Frozen City was another option for Cradilly I had looked at. Still does 30 per attach (from hand - not Colress Machine) to plasma decks. Use Leavanny so Amphorus not fighting weak.

Exactly. Shaymin Could be added into this deck, because you will obviously have more prizes left compared to your opponent. Will Create thread about this deck.

Silver Mirror Addition to This Deck?

Almost everybody (especially less competitive local players at Battle Roads) is going to be trying to counter Plasma. I really doubt that it will do all that well this fall.

Its also considerably easier to tech against than Blastoise and arguably even ViriGen. Honestly, I don't think that there will be a clear BDIF at this point.

The best Darkrai varient is Darkrai/Absol. Its speed and consistency are very solid and its plasma matchup is fantastic. I have no clue why people think that Hydreigon/Darkrai will be good again.

because of the lack of E-Switch

That doesn't make Darkrai/Hydreigon good. That just makes other Darkrai variants bad. I wouldn't consider any common Darkrai variant above tier 2 in NXD-PLB.

I see. I thought Darkrai Would Still Have Its edge. After 2 Formats of Greatness, I think we could have another.
Absol and Hydreigon Variants Still Seem Playable..

Have you even tested it without E-Switch? It really isn't all that bad. I would still consider it tier 1 to 1.5

Tier 2 is a little harsh considering it has a decent game against VirGen and Trubbish and still wrecks plasma

It has issues with V/G because it can't work the math with poison; meaning that it's main way to win is outspeeding it, something that is very difficult without Energy Switch. They both two hit KO each other, but V/G has outs for an OHKO which is something that Darkrai lacks. I can't speak for the Plasma matchup because I haven't tested it. One thing to note is that it has a much worse matchup against Blastoise now due to the drop in speed (and the matchup wasn't so grey to begin with).

I can't see it as Tier 1, but past that I really don't know. It's possible my little testing with and against isn't enough to go by.
