Just wondering what do you guys think was the BDIF of 2009?
Here's a quick overview of the top decks

Cities-Well the season begin with DP-SF and two decks dominated-
Dusknoir and Kingdra, one a slow and steady deck the other a donker. Gengar and Tyranitar also did admirably well at Cities as well.

States-The beginning of the big 32K Tourneys. A very even format, Dialga ended up winning w/ Palkia close behind. ToxiTank was also surprisingly good in this format. Gengar and Machamp and Kingdra were still good. While the overhyped Rampy phailed.

Regionals-the downfall of SPs for the first time, GeChamp was born and dominated Regs, again SPs weren't far behind.

Spring BR's- Ah Luxray was released...The best card ever. IDK what did great, didn't play much but then came

Nats-Dark Plox came back w/ avengeance. Dark Flygon as well. Also in Japan hyped was born when it Blazeray vs. GeChamp. In the U.S. Luxape was king. The big news that finally hit us-GYARADOS!

Worlds-Luxdrill suprised us all. While Toolbox dominated the lower divisions. FlyChamp was also born. Flygon and SPs dominated the field.

Autumn BRs-So Blazeray was hyped but wasn't great. Absol won a fair amount of cities(mostly thanks to elekei957). Gyarados rose to power as well. As usual Flygon was still great and Luxape. SF was still huge in the meta.

Cities(again)-So early on w/ Spiritomb an LA deck w/out Kingdra doing great. That's right the underlooked Gliscor has surprised us all. While Luxape falls to the bottom of the tier list, Gengar a lot of Top Cuts, not many wins. Lastly LuxChomp(Lady GaGa) was born and is as of right now the BDIF. Don't worry though we're only halfway done.

Flygon, Toolbox, and Gyarados. Those are my votes, and that is hard to pick. Flygon has so many options, from just beatdown to stall to lock to discard, all of that stuff. So plenty of options, and it does so well. Toolbox runs pretty well even with Spiritomb. Good SP players run at least one Bebe's Search to play around Bebe's, and hopefully you can soon get some of the SP Trainers going. Then comes Gyarados, which does so much damage so quickly. And he's a tough one to KO. So this vote is quite hard, but I'll go with Flygon.

I would've seriously voted for Glistomb, but we just haven't seen him much lately due to the fact that he just started seeing tons of play.

EDIT: Flygon isn't on the poll... just Flygon variants. Crud. That makes things A LOT tougher.

IMO the deck that showed to be the BDIF of the year are the Palkia lock varients (ones that run dialga included). They DOMINATED states, did very well at nats and worlds, and still are a strong force in the meta. Not to mention, since they came out, they have about a 50/50 or better matchup against most of the format.

The other deck I would seriously consider for BDIF of 2009 is Dialga. The rest aren't bad, but they definitely aren't BDIF either. Who ever voted gengar really should be rethinking exactly how inconsistent it's winnings have been.

To be honest, I really think Beedrill was one of the better decks for Battle Roads/Nats/Worlds. Even for Regionals, some people proved it was a great deck.

Dialga is another one that deserves a mentioning. It's been preforming well all year, even since States.

Gengar of course is another good one. Out of them all, I would like to say he has been the most PLAYED deck. Is there a "best" deck? No. There never will be a "best deck in format". There can be a "most overplayed deck in format", which in this case would be Gengar, but nothing extremely outclasses every single deck out there.

Maybe next year.

I would actually argue that there have been a few decks that are better than the rest. They don't need to outclass everything like Plox did, but Dialga and Palkia definitely are a fair bit better than pretty much all the other decks that have existed in the same time frame.

Mother Gengar is owning. I got first in BRs and cities with my old friend Gengar!!! 3 Votes. MOTHER GENGAR FTW!

You should change it to:BDIF of 2008-2009... i mean... it isnt fair to Glisctomb, Lady Gaga, Derailed, because they havent had a whole year to shine.
Also, I voted for Palkia.

my thoughts:

mother gengar was pretty terrible- maybe a few cites here and there, but that means nothing. Dialga also wrecks it.

I have been seeing a lot less Palkia G and a lot more Dialga G. Dialga is probably the better of the two at the moment.

Luxchomp is hyped like crazy. It's not that amazing. I don't see how it is the best deck right now.

So I'd say Dialga or Flygon probably; both are consistent and have been played at tournaments since they were released.

Dialga is better now, but IMO Palkia is the better deck over all, since it is far more flexible. I thought that's what this was anyway... the BDIF of 08-09, not "what's good right now".

I love how you failed to put up Gyarados, yet you put Glistomb, which has only been around for a month or two. -.-

Seriously though, Gyarados was good even before Fabien won nats. A new player could bring the theme deck to Regs and go 4-2, even possibly top cut. But from what you have up there, I can't say. There are too many varients of a certain deck (Yes, I'm talking to you Flygon. >.>) to choose from.

see why i voted other =D

it's not really fair to post all of 09... cuz now after worlds the meta has changed a lot.

RampChamp I think It would the award goes to gengar. It's been at the top of the format for over a year now. I think that wins it for Gengar.

Being around for a long time does not make something good. :/

If that were the case than Pikachu would be the BDIF X 10000000 because Pikachu has been around in every format.
