Pokemon Best and worst Player Character and Rival designs?

Which Player Character and which Rival do you think had the best and the worst desgin and why. Note: "I hate Brendan because he is ugly" and other similar spammy posts won't be allowed.
I liked FR/LG Red best because of his hat and shirt. I liked Lucas the least because of his berret. As for the female characters I liked Lyra the least because of her overalls and strange hat. I disliked Silver simply because I think he needs a haircut.

For the player character...I'd have to agree with the FRLG Red. I think he looked the best overall, and his retooling from his original RBY form makes him look newer, yet still true to the original. The worst I'd say is May, because...well, mostly it's because her in-game sprite annoys me, but *mostly* it's because I don't like her hairdo.

For the rival character, I think the obvious winner is Silver. Not only does he look awesome, he acts awesome. I dislike his retooling in HGSS, because it makes him more of a sympathetic rival character, but in the original GSC he was a total jerk, which is what made him such a great character. The worst rival is Barry (or Pearl, whatever you want to call him). I shouldn't have to explain this. If I need to, I'll fine you 10 million Poke Dollars.

I've always liked Leaf, since FR/LG came out. I just like her hat :3. I also like Red, because he just looks... normal. He has no messed up beret, or white hair, he just has a red hat.

Now for rival.... I definitely have to say Gary, (or Blue, if you prefer). Normally in R/S/E, I'd pick May as my character, leaving Brendan as the rival. I hate Brendan because he is ugly. <--My exact thoughts. Who has white hair when they're like, 12? And tops it with a bandanna?

Just saying, Brendan's hair is black. What you think is white hair and a bandanna is actually his hat.
Look closely.
His manga counterpart Ruby also has a white hat.

I like Brendan(Whatever you call the RSE boy trainer) Cause of his looks like his spiked hair, I like Barry because he's always in a rush!

I have to agree with DNA personality-wise. Silver was the most believable rival and it made you want to beat him(gary is similar, but it was because he was a douche) and Barry got really old really fast because of his stupid catchphrase.

Favorite hero: third gen duo because the design is really well-done (mostly)
Favorite rival: if n does not count, silver because he always has that creepy and evil vibe.

Favourite player characters:
Michael (XD:GoD) - He's just too adorable to not be loved. x3
Lyra (HG/SS) - ...Well, she's just perfect in every way.

Least favourite player characters:
...Okay, this is a hard one. Maybe I'd have to go with Wes (Colosseum). He's just... boring, I think. His design never appealed to me, either.
(EDIT: If spin-offs count, Lucy Fleetfoot obviously takes the price. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!)

Favourite rival:
D/P/t-Rival - Strongest, most entertaining and friendliest rival. There's absolutely no contest.

Least favourite rival:
G/S/C/HG/SS-Rival - At times, I even have trouble calling this douche a rival. HG/SS kinda fixed it in the end, but the first half of the game still made him horrible beyond belief.

Player characters:
B/W Male trainer. I just.....like him.
May (out of all female Player characters she goes up a tiny bit than the others)
Rival:
Barry-he is the nicest out of all of them.

I dislike:

Player characters:
Ethan (when he is supporting character-he seems really childish. With Lyra it was understandable.)
Dawn (Must I go on a rant about her?)
Rival:
Silver (he is the most annoying rival ever and is so arrogant that I really just hate him. He becomes ok at the end of the game in HGSS though)

I guess my favorite male player character would be the one in FRLG (or R/B/Y), basically being the closest thing the game has to Ash (not a good thing in itself, but if you're gonna go with something, might as well do it all the way) and the anime was my first foray into Pokemon, and it didn't turn me away from it :p:D

My favorite female player character is also the one from FRLG. Could have done without the hat, but hey what'cha gonna do?

My favorite Rival has actually been the one in G/S/C HGSS (officially named Silver, never what I've called him). He's not really very likeable and always someone you wanna beat down.

Can't say I have any player character I really dislike, though I suppose if we're talking design wise if nothing else, then I'd say the R/S/E player character (Brendan, also never the name I used) and the HGSS player character (Lyra, though as I've always used the female character since that option in Crystal, can't say I've had a female rival).

Least favorite rival would have to the D/P/Pl rival (Barry, never the name I used) he's not really very likeable (rather annoying obviously) to be above a rival but not in the same vein of dislike as HGSS and FRLG rivals.

I really like Hugh.
He went on a Pokemon journey to save his sisters Purrloin.
Then, he helps team plasma (old) get ALL the Pokemon back to their owners.
He never gives up, does he?
That's why I like him. He's so strong willed. ( And his hair looks like a Quilfish! :p )
He sort of reminds me of myself.

Favorite player character: Oh, tough one. Probably Dawn and Hilbert (eugh) just because they have cool designs, and their manga counterparts are neat and different from what you'd expect.

Favorite rival character: Barry. Hugh and Silver come in at a very close 2nd place, though.

Favorite Rival would have to be Silver, because of his personality.

Least favorite player would be the X and Y male, he looks very generic to me.

Least favorite rival would probably be Barry, because of his attitude, how he says he's better than you all the time, and how just speeds off at times. (Hugh comes in at a very, and I mean very, close second though. Not only did I dislike how basically just shouts at everyone, I cringed every time he said "I'm gonna unleash my rage!". The pacing between battles with him is very bad as well.)

Favorite Character: Hilbert, I like his style. Brendan comes close in second.
Favorite Rival: Blue. Forever. Smell ya later, guys!

Least Favorite Character: The guy from D/P (I don't remember his name). His clothing and style suck.
Least Favorite Rival: Probably Barry. He's just annoying as hell.
 
My faviourite Male designs are: Ethan and Brendan (Awesome hat).
My least faviourite males are: Lucas (Old man hat), Red in FRLG on (So basic and boring looking), Hilbert (Hair is too long IMO), Nate (Looks too much like Hilbert) and XY Boy (Looks like the offspring of Nate and Hilbert).

My faviourite girls are: May and Leaf
My least faviourite girls are: Hilda (Looks too much like a female Hilbert), Rosa (Looks too much like Hilda, a female Nate and I really don't like the Sailor Moon Hair) and XY Girl (Looks too much like a Blonde Leaf).

Faviourite Rivals: Gary and Huge (Both have awesome hair).
Least Faviourite Rivals: I don't really have any, but if non-rival friends count, I'd say Cheren.
 
Favorite
Male: Red, Gold, Black
Red is the one who started it all, you get to battle him in Gold and Silver, it was a memorable moment. Gold I just liked for the backwards hat and different feel he had from Red, giving Gold and Silver and new feeling. I liked Black for... ehh well it was simple design but worked well.

Female: Crystal, Blue, Sapphire, White
I don't have a particular reason for liking them but when I replay a pokemon sometimes I'll pick the female for the lulz. Except when I don't like the female character...

Rival: Green, Silver, N
Green and Silver really wanted to defeat you and really got upset when they lost or laugh at you for getting lucky. You really felt like you needed to keep them in check. N simply because it's only been since the 1st Gen when the guy hounding you turns out to be the final opponent. He may not egg you on like Green or Silver but he does have a strong vibe from him.

Least favorite
Male: Lucas. Didn't dig the design at all. I immediately just started playing as a female when I saw him.
Female: Lyra. Crystal's "updated" look just looks really boring. And channeling Mario's overalls. Plus that hat is way too big. Rosa because the pigtails and tennis hat kind of makes her look silly sometimes.
Rival: Barry, Cheren and Hugh. The catchphrase I'll fine you got really annoying and he didn't seem like he was interested in taking you down, more like just getting one from place to the other. He must have got his hands on some poke-coffee or something. Cheren was mostly due to the theme music which made it sound like "oh hey this is a fun battle with your friend! Don't worry about losing just have fun! Nothing epic here. Stakes are low except the fact that you'll white out if you lose." But most of the time he just seemed like he was testing you. And then gets upset when he realizes he can't win. Hugh just wanted you to be strong to back him up. Cool theme but did not give the "this guy's my rival and I gotta take him down no matter what." Just cause you're chums doesn't mean you can't trash talk now and then!
 
Top Characters: Dude: Diamond (scarf/Burea combo FTW) Runner Up: Hilbert (too legit to quit)
Girl: Rosa (Buns!) Runner Up: Hilda (short shorts!)
Worst Characters: Dude:Gold
Girl:Crystal (both, so 90s ugly, at least red and blue looked normal despite being plain and boring)
Runner Ups: Red and Blue (its easy to be better than crap but worse then the best, not terrible, just not the best)

Top Rival: Hugh, hes awesome, he head strong, and hes got a heart DAWW(beat Barry because Barry was on the annoying side of the same spectrum)
Worst Rival: Green/Silver (pompous whiny losers. that is all) Runner Up: May (mainly because she wasn't really a rival, more like a good friend.)

Best Team: Team Plasma ( do I need to explain?) Runner Up: Team Galactic (Cross dimensions! LIKE A BAWS!)
Worst Team: Team Magma/ Team Aqua (Now i'm all down for arguing about the stupidest crap with my brother and sister, but not in my pokemon, both teams were incredibly stupid to think their goal was even obtainable anyway) Runner Up: Team rocket (steal Pokemon, take over the world, this will obviously work out so easily...)

Best Villain: Ghestis (this jackapple is one hell of a twisted, manipulating,evil, BUTT) Runner Up: Colress (Mr. Cool)
Worst: Maxie/Archie ( same reasons) Runner Up: Team Galactic Commanders (Just Annoying)

Best Proffesor: Oak ( hes just awesome K.) Runner Up: Juniper (cuz shes like proffesor Oak cept shes younger and shes a lady)
Worst Professor: Elm (Nerd!) Runner Up: Birch (he not bad, hes just a bum)
 
Tough...

Favorite man: Firered/Leafgreen, as it began my pokemon journey, and great design. I'd say other than that, probably the HGSS one.

Fav. Female: I'd say... the BW2 one? I guess... I don' pay attention to the females.

Fav. Rival: Gary freaking oak.

Least male: The DPT one.

Least female: Once again, not sure.

Least rival: Barry. He os not even a rival. Just a kid who does it for fun. I feel he was a forced character.
 
Top male trainer: Hilbert

Top female trainer: Rosa/May

Top rival: Silver

Bottom male: Nate

Bottom female: Lyra

Bottom rival: Hugh/Barry. They're just annoying and don't really do anything for the storyline (except battle you a couple times and help against the evil team)
