RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

Here are the stats for this deck so far:
1st place - 15
2nd place - 17
3rd/4th place - 21
= 53 total Top 4's

This is clearly one of the best decks we have (if not the BDIF).

What makes this deck so good?

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

It beats Eels that don't run Pokemon Center easily.
Bouffalant helps against Tornadus EX, Shaymin EX, and Keldeo EX.
Mewtwo helps against Mewtwo, Tornadus EX, and Keldeo EX.
Landorus is great early game, against Eels, and it's good all around against Darkrai.
Terrakion NVI also is a mandatory inclusion so you can murder Darkrai more as well as Bouffalant and Sigilyph.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

Keldeo keeps this from being BDIF imo.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

Could someone post a list? I'm interested to see just what it can do.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

This is my own personal list but admittedly, I have honestly hardly played with it. For some reason, I just don't really like this deck that much and I think it's just simply because there is no Energy acceleration in the deck. Missing drops on some turns can really mess you up, especially if you're going up against Hammers.

Pokemon: 11

3 Mewtwo EX
3 Tornadus EX
2 Landorus EX
2 Terrakion NV
1 Bouffalant DRX

Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 37

4 N
4 Professor Juniper
3 Bianca
2 Skyla
4 Pokemon Catcher
4 Switch
3 Ultra Ball
3 Energy Switch
3 Eviolite
2 Aspertia City Gym
2 Tool Scrapper
1 Computer Search
1 PlusPower
1 Max Potion

Energy: 12

8 Fighting Energy
4 Double Colorless Energy

dmaster out.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

This deck is amazing. I've played it in 3 cities and T4'd one of them. Even though Mewtwo and Landorus are the title of the deck, in my experience they are not the star of the show. For me Terrakion and Tornadus have been my game winners. I only run 2 Landorus and 2 Mewtwo simply because IMO Landorus really isn't quite as good as its hyped up to be. My preferred starter is always Tornadus EX unless i'm facing an Eel matchup. A T1 Blowthrough can be killer. I use Landorus but Lands Judgement just takes to long to build up and your opponent will prepare for it. I favor Terrakion because he can be splashed really easy with an energy switch, and he helps you play the 7 prize game. Terrakion is also not weak to water which helps it a lot and is the reason I prefer him. The only match this deck really fails with is Keldeo. If the Keldeo player has a good list and you can't stop his setup, your probably going to lose. Tornadus helps a lot but it just isn't enough if they can stream their energy. Mewtwo doesn't help a lot either because a smart Keldeo player will be running 2 mewtwo and possibly even DCE.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

Mewtwo does help a lot. If you kill a Keldeo with one before they take 2 prizes off of you, you can win the prize trade. However, this doesn't work quite as well with only 2 Mewtwo and no way of getting one back quickly.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

This will be one of the bdif when plasma gets out.

3 landy
2/3 Tornadus
3 mewtwo
2 bouffalant

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

And how does that beat Klinklang? 2 Bouffalant wont get you anywhere, especially against Cobalion and Cobalion EX.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

Really? What i posted was a skeleton. Not hard to just throw in a tech victini to wipe out their field.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

It's more difficult than it looks. You have to run Fire/Prism which makes the deck clunkier.

Besides, just because it loses to Klinklang doesn't mean it's bad. This deck is going to get a huge boost from the HTL/Virbank combo, making it really something to be feared. Unfortunatly, Keldeo/Blastoise is now way more annoying to beat because you can't just spam Mewtwo if they send out BKEX, but even so, this deck is going to be at the top of Tier 1 for quite a while.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

I know, and absolutely agree, that this is Tier 1. I'm just stating that it isn't BDIF because of Klinklang (and Blastoise, now that you mention it). But Victini just ruins the deck, and even if you did add it, Klinklang (and many other decks) will use Keldeo, which can OHKO Victini with 1 Prism. Also Cobalion NV stops it from attacking.

This deck may change into a Tornadus/Bouffalant deck that also uses Landorus/Terrakion. Because Water will become even bigger than it is now, and Landorus will be a less valuable card in most matches. It will still be a great card, but most players won't want to focus their deck around it.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

I think it'll actually be more focused on Mewtwo, but Bouffalant will be great also.

Victini NV only has 70 hp remember, so all of the attackers in Klinklang OKHO it. The issue is having enough energy on the field to do so when you have to, otherwise, Victini will just rampage through the deck and attack whatever has energy on it.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

And this whole time I can't believe I was thinking of Victini EX lol.
And some varients might be more focused on Mewtwo, though I think Tornadus might be the main pokemon just because it can get T1 80, T2 120 (with HTL/Virbank) (assuming they retreat). KOing an EX T2. Though Mewtwo will be in there, I doubt it will be the focus.

RE: Landorus EX Variants (Includes Tornadus EX)

Does anyone have a list for this current meta? (Plasma Storm included) I am looking to play this deck and I want to see how the deck has changed.

I had 1 Victini and 2 Fire energy in my deck version and easily beat 2 KK decks I faced at last week's State tournament. Agreed that the deck was not "perfectly" tuned given the Victini and secondary energy required, but the deck ran quite smoothly. LMT is definitely NOT an autoloss to KK.

Btw, check out the State tournaments' results. You'll see that the Garbordor version of LMT did very well across the country. I'm not sure if any KK decks made it to the T8 rounds at the larger tournaments.

After looking at some of the State's Reports, what do you guys still think about this deck?

I think that it's a solid deck. I still think that Garbodor/Basics is better though...

If I remember correctly, there were more Landorus EX - Mewtwo EX - Tornadus EX (with/without Garbodor) decks in the T16 across the country versus any other deck... I'd think the deck is outstanding in the current format.
