Who wants to bring back my favorite feature, the Spelling and Grammar Rating System? Post your comments here. Don't forget to vote in the poll!

I would like to see it back even though it wasn't around when I joined. It would promote members to take the time to spell things correctly and would be good practice for school.

There's no way it was gone when you joined. It was here for several weeks after I joined and I joined January 16th of last year... :p

But yeah I miss that being here, but I understand why they took it away...silly people abuse it.

It was a "Look, I've got more things than you" festival. It was a great idea that didn't work because the system was always being used for popularity rather than people with good grammar and spelling. People would vote out of hope to either become popular or because there friends with the person who they are voting for.

Snorchu, check out the first post.

What if there was just one thread that everyone posted in whenever they gave a positive or negative ref for a member. You can choose the thread to be moderated so it would eliminate a lot of refs that should not have been given.

I think it wouldn't be needed even if the system didn't fail. I've noticed that there have been minimal "chat talk" posts lately. People who have outstanding grammar will receive respect. The few posts that contain horrible grammar can always be reported.

It would reduce the number of reported posts though. I am sure the staff have more things to do than deal with bad grammar post reports.

Most of the ideas presented in the Site Discussion are unnecessary. Bad spelling/grammar is something that is supposed to be avoided, and we don't need a reputation system or a specific thread to tell us if a member is not using it correctly. Just look at their posts, and if it's bad enough, then they get warned. Simple as that. It's their fault for not reading the rules or taking the time to type properly. The Spelling/Grammar reputation system was abused greatly and it will be no different this time around.

I don't support this idea and think it would be a waste of time personally. It would create more problems than it would attempt to fix.

Edit:

The possibility of getting warned should do that. If the member doesn't care enough after getting warned the first time, then they deserve every warning they get after it.

I support this idea. I've noticed that a lot of new people on the forums are typing with abbreviations which they spell wrong and then you have a hard time trying to figure out their post. Besides, if you can't spell for your life and spell a word wrong, you should right click the word for suggestions. Overall, people need to stop being lazy and spell correctly.

Do you guys SERIOUSLY want this to turn into what happened last time? Please, don't bring it back. Because all it'll boil down to is popularity and people will just give positive or negative reps without elaborating on it.

I for one, do not approve of it.

And Gail pretty much hit the nail on the head.

NO. Just no. The S/G system turned into something like "if I give you a good ref, you give me a good ref." It out the entire purpose for the system. And as Noobnerd stated, many members started to abuse the system, which further ruined its purpose.

Anyways, Gale did hit the mark again. The rules do say you get a warning if you use bad S/G, so just report it.

NO. NEVER. AGAIN. D:

What Gliscor said. I remember this one dude who gave me a bad ref for no reason, when I had perfectly good grammar. It was a dumb system, and it should not come back ever.

Christ no. The S/G system only worked in the sense that it scared off noobier members or those who don't know English fluently. I honestly don't see all the fuss for perfect S/G, and even a normal rep system is constantly abused. I really don't think bringing that back would be a good idea.

If you look around, the spelling and grammar isn't even that bad to warrant a system that can be abused and has been abused. I'll stay with my position from that old thread, I was glad to have it gone and there's no reason to have it back.

dmaster out.

I never really used it all that much and did not see a real point to it and it did have loads of spam anyway.:)

I remember how we used to have to warn people for giving their ref reason as "i gave you a ref now give me one" ._.

Grant you that some postings are so filled with misspellings as to be unreadable. The old system had too much abuse to be used again.
