Here is a new idea on fake carding. I have already seen a couple fake card competitions on this Forum, and I wanted to do something different. Here's the idea. In the history of the TCG in the last few years, there have been archtypes like Blastoise/Delcatty, Metagross/Dragonite, and the crazy amounts of Delta Combos. In the videogames, nobody would ever relate those two Pokemon. My idea is to have people create combos like these. Combos will be disqualified if they are obvious (Gardevoir/Gallade, Palkia/Dialga, Lunatone/Solrock are just a few examples of obvious combos).
Rules:
1. Instead of making a single fake card, make 2 or more. If you do an evolution combo, also provide basic forms.
2. The 2 or more fake cards must have something to do with each other (like Blastoise (GC) and Delcatty (GC), but not be obvious (like Bellosom (LA) and Vileplume (LA).
3. Use proper grammar and spelling, and follow the formatting rules right below this.
This is how each card should look:
Pokemon Name - Pokemon's HP - Pokemon's Type
[Name of Poke-Power of Poke-Body (if applicable)] What the power/body does.
Energy Cost of first attack (ex. [D][C]) Name of Attack. Damage of attack (if applicable). Effects (if applicable).
Weakness: ___
Resistance: ___
Retreat Cost: ___
4. BE NICE!!!
5. Don't do random things like saying on a Delcatty "This attack does 30 damage plus 30 more damage for each Dragonite on your bench." This is not at all tricky or creative, and I can guarantee that people who do this, or anything like this will not make finals.. Be original.
6. This is how participants will be scored:
Following the formatting rules/proper spelling and grammar (__/5)
Originality of the combo (Gardevoir/Gallade would be considered obvious) (___/10)
Staying Reasonable (don't make some crazy 20,000 HP guy. Keep it withing the fairness of real cards) (__/5)
If the combo is not quite obvious, explain it somewhere. Don't do the "randomness thing" mentioned in rule 5 (___/5)
Don't copy [even remotely] other people's ideas or ideas already used in the real TCG (___/5)
Creativity (___/10)
Total (___/40)
7. If you want to participate, simply post your cards below my post. Remember, this is an idea for people to have fun, so only post about someone else if you want to say nice job, etc.
8. Trainers and Energy can be used in the combo. It doesn't have to only include Pokemon. Remember - your combo can consist of more than 2 cards.
8. The judging will work like this: I am the lead judge. I will post the results of the entries as they come, and I will take 4 sub-judges. If people want to become sub-judges, post it below. If the sub-judges disagree with my rating, PM me. If I get 3 or 4 disagreements from the sub-judges, I will change it. A note to the Sub-Judges - Don't tell me you disagree with my rating unless it will make a difference as to weather that person gets in or out of the finals.
9. This is how finals will work: If you scored a 38-40/40, you have made finals. Finals will work like this: after I get a good number of entrants, I will make a new post for everyone who made finals, with a list of their names. Their job will be to create a proxy deck list with no reprints (except basic energies) that uses the cards they posted on this thread, and have the information on each card on it. If a lot of people do well, I may make it a 38/40 or more, but that remains to be seen. A good number of entrants is 30-40.
NOTE THE CHANGE IN MAKING FINALS! YOU ONLY GET IN IF YOU GOT A 38/40 OR HIGHER!!!
The deadline for entering is 11/5/2008 USA dates.
10. Stay informed if you make finals. I don't want to choose 23 people for finals and only have 8 of them post.
FINALS INFO:
For those of you who have made finals, here is the info. Anyone who submitted their combo before November will be required to complete the finals objective by 11/4/2008. I will PM everyone on the 1st, so there should be no excuses. If your finals aren't posted by this date, I will disqualify you.
Here's how finals will work. Originally, I was going to have everyone build combo deck lists, but I figured that would be too much work. I am still going to have everyone build decks, but the rules will be different. Everyone has to use their combo in their deck. If your combo consisted of evolved Pokemon, you will have to provide those as well. The rest of the cards in the deck can be real, or fake. The more time and effort I can see that you have put into it, the more likely your score will be high.
Here's how the finals posts should be laid out:
Pokemon in the deck
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums in the deck
Energies in the deck
A spoiler of all of the fake cards in the deck.
Here's how the scoring will work:
Speed/Strength of the deck (___/10)
Work was obviously put into the list (___/10)
Creativity (___/10)
Spelling/Grammar (___/5)
Score from the first round (___/40)
Total (___/75)
Prizes: There will most likely not be any prizes except knowing that you are great at making up fake cards. However, if I am extremely impressed with somebody's work and they have a Pokemon game, Wi-Fi, and a DS, there may be prizes in that.
