Long string of dialogue at end isn't pretty, but it's appropriate in this scene. Just a thing that irks me, but I'd rather it be this way in such a context.
Sylveon sighs. There are only six Pokemon alive now. Six Pokemon, one of them being the murderer. She looks around to see who it could be. She is obviously innocent, after all, because she’s narrating this paragraph. However, which of the others could it be? Stunfisk is too dumb to come up with smart plans, and Leavanny is too nice. Honchkrow is a decent candidate, but would that be cliche? Aipom is her best friend, but is he able to stoop so low as to murder someone? Minun acts weird half the time, but sometimes she’s a kind soul as well. However, she’s wrong in her observations somewhere. There is a killer in these walls.
She looks on at the stage as the new temporary leader steps up. Honchkrow was forced to step down before since he got Electrike killed and Sylveon almost incarcerated. As such, Leavanny has taken over. Leavanny, the kind soul, is risking his life--all the other leaders have died painfully. Umbreon was stabbed through the head, Vaporeon was ingested, Pidgeot was crushed, and the other leaders at the time died, too. It’s been a rough road, and the fact that Sylveon is still alive baffles her. Nevertheless, she listens to what the insect has to say.
“We have lost friends, loved ones, competition. We have lost our Pokemanity….but we have not lost our lives. We are the final six, and five of us are alive for a reason. We are going to undergo every measure possible to ensure our safety. Who’s with me?”
No one replies. No one feels the need. It’s every Pokemon for itself now, and Sylveon sighs at the independence required for survival. She walks away and goes over to Aipom’s popcorn stand, which has since been abandoned and left to collect dust. She walks over and sits behind it, hiding, and munches on stale popcorn as she hides. Perhaps concealing herself inside the box will increase her chances? She doesn’t know, but it’s worth a shot. She enters a small cabinet under the popcorn machine and curls up in a ball. She covers her eyes and breathes slowly. The door is left ajar to supply air.
“Minun” walks around and sees Sylveon’s tail peeking out of the popcorn machine. She smiles and walks on. Perhaps that information can be used later. If Sylveon moves and someone dies, she’ll know who the murderer is. Minun goes over to a nearby Honchkrow and catches his eyes, though her glare overpowers his staring. He looks away and shrugs. She looks at Leavanny and Aipom, who are putting up boxes on the stage and creating a fort of some sort. Why would they be working together? She decides to walk on and find herself something to do; if she snoops around too long, she’ll become a suspect.
Leavanny and Aipom continue stacking up boxes. Leavanny gets the base set up and Aipom climbs on the base to stack on more boxes. The supply room is full of these protective building blocks.
“Leavanny,” Aipom asks, “what happens if everyone else dies while we’re hidden away?”
Leavanny looks down at his feet. “Then we’ll be the last ones left with the murderer and we can contact the police.”
“How?”
Leavanny shrugs. “It doesn’t matter right now, does it? There are windows we can use to escape I suppose. Maybe we could use the doorway and make a break for it. It depends on who the murderer is. If it’s Stunfisk, we can use the doorway. If it’s Honchkrow, we better run for the shortcuts.”
Aipom nods. “I can’t trust many people anymore, but you and Sylveon haven’t done anything wrong to me,” he says.
Leavanny smiles and stacks another box to finish up one of the four small walls. This may take a while, but at least he’ll have a home to shelter him...and a possible murderer.
Stunfisk flops on the ground and witnesses everyone hiding and making protection. He slides under a chair and shuts his eyes. No one will look under chairs for a suspect. It’s so smart that Stunfisk’s brain is hurting. Perhaps he is a genius, an Alakazam-level guy. Perhaps, but probably not.
Honchkrow oversees everything happening from the catwalk. The catwalk is the perfect place for shelter--never mind the murders that have taken place. The bird makes a nest out of papers and a cushion and listens for steps up the catwalk. He will wait it out until the next scream, and then he will strike the murderer and become a hero. Once he kills the villain, he will be a hero and appear less shady. He likes being shady, but he doesn’t like people knowing he’s shady. It’s all part of a shady business.
Sometime in the middle of the night, Leavanny screams. Sylveon hears the scream and raises her head up...just for her to smack her head on the cabinet door’s top. She lunges out and looks over to the stage. Leavanny is standing beside Aipom, who is lying on the ground. Sylveon jumps on stage to see what happened.
“Aipom decided to take the first shift, and I was asleep. The murderer attacked the fort and the boxes fell over and surrounded me. I didn’t wake up, though, because I used my silk to create earplugs--Stunfisk snores loud. Anyway, Aipom must’ve gone to see what happened...I found him like this,” the Pokemon says with tears in his eyes.
Aipom’s tail has been cut off. In his large mouth is the hand of his tail. It appears that several fingers were stuck in his throat, with the palm of the hand taking up the area in his mouth, and caused suffocation. Someone ripped Aipom’s tail off and murdered him with it. Sylveon cries out for her friend’s demise and her tear ducts give into the pressure inside. Tears stream down her face.
“It looks like Aipom was murdered about an hour ago,” Leavanny says on further inspection.
“How can you tell?” Minun asks as she walks up the steps.
“His body is stiff and his wounds don’t look completely fresh,” Sylveon explains for him.
“Well, aren’t you a corpse specialist?” squawks an awakened Honchkrow.
“It’s common sense, really,” Leavanny says. “There’s no need to blame Sylveon for being smart.
“Sylveon i’n’t smart, I am!” Stunfisk bellows from the audience.
He rises out from under the chairs and flops over to the stage. He makes it with the others and stares at the corpse.
“You were...hiding under chairs?” Minun has an unsure expression on her face.
“Yes! I knew no one would find me!” Stunfisk cheers.
“This isn’t the point, guys,” Sylveon says. “Aipom is dead.”
“Who cares? That’s one less in this stupid game of playing favorites,” Honchkrow smiles.
“You’re disgusting,” Leavanny says. “You only care about your own survival.”
“Yes, that’s true, since my investment in Gothorita has kind of turned dead. Haw haw, get it?”
The group watches the bird skeptically and keeps their distance away from him. At this point, guessing may not be far off. Sylveon frowns at the past events of the night and yearns to sleep.
Dead: Aipom
75% of the Pokemon are dead. Wow! Can anyone guess the murderer at this point? Reinforce, TwistedTurtwig, lovandra, and raichulover11 all have the opportunity, though be careful...your demise might be on its way.
I have a few things for Convicted 3 that are definitely going to be in place. First, dead characters will have more of a role even after death. No one will be completely done unless wanted. The other aspect I'm definitely fixing will be in adding more RPG to the story. The rest is still up in the air, but raichu and I will talk about it soon!
