(This is getting worse and worse, why is all this happening? I can't believe who would be behind this horrific crime...)

Good thoughts so far!

I will tell you that some of the characters were designed to further the story rather than have more plotlines, though this does not count out the possibility of anyone being the murderer by any means. Roselia has her own motive (which I will explore in more detail in the next chapter, or else why would I have started talking about her now?) and just because she isn't convinced she's the murderer doesn't mean she isn't (I might incorporate something new in the next chapter to reflect that, actually).

Smeargle is so unpredictable. That's about all I can say about him :p Such a fun character to write about.

Spoiler Alert/Plot Twist: I'm the murderer. Killed myself to cover my tracks and I've been randomly hypnotizing each one of you from beyond the grave to do my dirty work.

*laughs manically*

(Now somewhat concious, purrloin kicks out. The table falls over and nearly lands on slowpoke. Purrloin, now on the ground, is trying to sit up.)

Sorry I've been a bit busy with exams and I got ORAS a few days ago. :D (Europe got them this week.)

Right now I'm most suspicious of Nidoking, since the mayor took the love of his life, he's a poison type, and involved with the mob.

All right, I've got it. It was Slowpoke.

Victini's murder

Slowpoke exits the room and heads into the kitchen, claiming he needs to grab a quick snack before returning. Slowpoke walks slowly past you and Smeargle, missing the food, and goes to cry in a corner alone. Smeargle throws his hands out as if to say “isn’t it obvious?”

Mo like, isn't it obvious HE'S THE KILLER? Classic, Turtwig.

During chapter one, Slowpoke was in the kitchen, alone, for the entirety of the chapter for all we know. The point was he was in there, and even if he was moving slowly, he had plenty of time to poison Victini's drink. After all, he easily could have determined which one was Victini's cup.

Cinccino's murder

Slowpoke spent the first part of chapter two upstairs with Toxicroak. When interrogated by Croagunk, he casually lets drop that any Pokemon could poison a drink. It's meant to cast doubt on everyone else at the party and mask the fact that he's a chemist and would know how to whip up a tasteless poison. Slowpoke even admits it's easy to make - someone of his skill could definitely make it so Victini couldn't taste his tasty tea death. As far as actually killing Cinccino, I'll admit I have no idea how Slowpoke could have handled this.

She then redundantly opens the door slightly to peek out after hearing movement and sees that Cinccino has now entered the bathroom next door. She hides herself well in the room and looks at the will once more.

“Oh my roses! Five million dollars given to--”

“...Cinccino? Five million dollars to the maid? This will is recent, too--it was updated just last month! He and the maid must have had some sort of hidden romance,” Roselia giggles.

Nearby, she hears a weird gurgling sound, a scream, and silence. Roselia hides the will in her rose petals again and runs to the bathroom to make sure Cinccino is okay.

This happens so quickly that I can't imagine how Slowpoke could have done it. However, since the same Pokemon committed all the murders, and I'm thinking it was Slowpoke that done dood it, he clearly must be guilty here~ And if I'm wrong, Slowpoke is clean since I'll wind up dead, allowing everyone to discuss the two main suspects, Smeargle and Toxicroak. I'll gladly take one for the team if this is the case.

Gardevoir's murder

Slowpoke used Psychic to drop the chandelier on Gardevoir, using the room shaking as a cover.

Sneasel's murder

This is the chapter where we learn about the foundation of cellular regeneration? Why would he give thousands of dollars to an organization completely different from his own species?” you ask out loud.

“I know what it is,” Blissey pipes up, her pink belly jiggling. “The foundation experiments with automatic recovery--how to turn regular abilities into moves like Synthesis or Moonlight. Many self-recoverers protest against the research because it ruins their originality and competitive abilities.”

This seems like the thing that Slowpoke, as a knowledgeable fellow, would know all about. Victini was a staunch supporter of this foundation, and as a Pokemon who can self-recover, it makes sense for Slowpoke to be against it.

Later on, we see Slowpoke enter a room with Sneasel. At this point, Sneasel and Slowpoke get into a fight. Slowpoke tries to kill Sneasel, and Sneasel slices Slowpoke's tail off, perhaps with an Ice Shard. Slowpoke then uses Psychic to take control of the Ice Shard and jams it into Sneasel's heart (since using Psychic on Sneasel directly will have no effect).

A slightly different, but equally valid, scenario: Slowpoke and Sneasel get into a fight. Sneasel first attacks with Ice Shard (lol get it), Slowpoke impales her. He then uses the Ice Shard to slice off his own tail in order to look innocent before re-inserting it into Sneasel's body. It doesn't matter if he loses his tail because he has Regenerator. It'll just grow back, and it does, so quickly that if you weren't there to see it chopped off you never would have known he'd lost it in the first place.

Blissey's murder

Slowpoke was listening to the conversation between Toxicroak and Blissey. After he feigned sleeping to avoid Toxicroak, he saw his opportunity and murdered the hell out of Blissey.

This is my guess I am submitting to Turtwig. As I mentioned above, if I'm right, gg. If I'm wrong then Slowpoke is clear.

Either way I am submitting my guess now so I can be done with this game.

PMJ, you just shot yourself in the foot there. You can't publicly announce that you are sending in your guess, even moreso who the guess is for, or it doesn't count and you die! :p

I want the true murderer to be a surprise too, so I haven't asked to know who it is, but I think the murderer might be Nidoking. I'll look at things more in-depth in the future, but for now he's my main suspect.

I convinced myself and originally told him that he could just post that he guessed, but he actually posted his guess as well, and so I just let it slide. No big deal.

Next chapter will be posted tonight since I have the info needed from Drohn and the guess(es).

I'm having such a good time reading the story, I don't actually care to rush into guessing the killer (although I do have my suspicions on one Pokemon in particular, I rather risk the wait).
Or I could be saying that because I am the killer. Plot twist.

I wouldn't guess if I were the murderer and if I'm wrong I'm dead anyway.

Chapter 6

Roselia appears in some third person reality. She looks and sees herself slipping the poison from her roses in one of the cups, and then the scene pans out to Victini choking on the drink and landing flat on the ground. She screams.

It changes to petals covering the bathroom floor. She sees a bathtub drenched in red and a cut-up body floating inside. Her rose petals have little tints of red on the ends as if scraping the body. Roselia’s eyes widen and she begins to accept this as some sort of reality. She sees her past self running into the bedroom and looking in Victini’s things.

Roselia sees herself firing a single petal straight at the rusty chain of the chandelier, killing Gardevoir and hurting Nidoking’s legs. She watches as the chandelier falls in slow motion, the main part crushing the former’s body.

Roselia finds herself holding the Ice Shard and her body, against her will, slings it at Slowpoke and stabs Sneasel, killing the latter.

Once again, she finds herself holding Blissey’s precious egg. She hoists it over her head and bashes Blissey’s skull with it. How she is big enough to do that, she doesn’t know, but she’s doing it.

Roselia knows it. She’s the murderer. She suddenly finds herself panned out to the distant past, back when she was a mere Budew.

“I think she’s got some sort of hiccup in her memory,” her father, a Maractus, tells her mother, a Roselia at the time.

“The doctor said she’s borderline mental, but she seems so fine,” her mother chokes back tears.

“What is going to come of this?”

“We aren’t going to tell her. We’ll just let whatever happens happen.”

Budew screams out that it’s impossible, it’s not true. She’s not crazy, not a killer. She evolves into a Roselia and Petal Dances into the air, a vigorous attack smacking the very atmosphere that encloses her.

“Stop it!” she screams out into the dark living room.

“Good morning,” Smeargle smiles. “You fell into some sort of deep sleep and had a Nightmare of sorts. It’s okay now.”

Roselia sees a bead of sweat creeping down his forehead. “Y-you did this. You traced Nightmare or something. You’re insane! Not me! You can’t control my mind!”

Smeargle doubles back and gasps. “Me? No, I’m not insane. I’m trying to save my soul. You need to turn yourself in so that I’m not always the suspect. We both know it isn’t me, don’t we?”

Roselia thinks a moment and shakes her head. “I only know it isn’t Purrloin and it isn’t me.”

“Well it isn’t me, either. Come to think of it, I don’t remember making Victini’s drink at all. I always bring him his separately…”

“You’re going to be okay, Purrloin,” Slowpoke smiles. He’s the only living Pokemon in the house with decent medical experience. Roselia can grow plants, but he’s the best alternative. “Let me get you some meds. This shouldn’t have happened to you.”

His pharmacology classes at least let him know what pills to use. He puts them in her mouth and offers some water to swallow them down. “It must be hard having nothing left…”

Slowpoke glances over at the two red shard pieces on the table. There’s a small engraving that says “Victini + Purrloin: Best Friends Forever!” Slowpoke feels a tear roll out of its duct and he wipes it away. Now Victini is dead and poor Purrloin has been poisoned. This shouldn’t have happened to her.

Togekiss looks through the papers of some upstairs bedroom. She glances through some more documents and finds exactly what she’s looking for.

“Victini’s gang consists of himself, Toxicroak, Blissey, Cinccino, Sneasel, Nidoking, and…” she stops.

“...Nidoqueen?”

She looks through some more of the stack and finds Nidoqueen’s obituary hidden among them. She looks past the personal bio and finds the cause of death.

“Nidoqueen was mysteriously found outside her home with her tail cut off and drugs in her system. There is evidence to believe that someone has killed her, but the murderer’s identity is unknown...That’s an odd way to go out.”

She sits back and reads more articles in the dark. The nighttime gives her perfect personal space. She flips through one more page with the list of names.

“Victini, Cinccino, Gardevoir, Sneasel, and Blissey are all dead. However, four of the five were all involved in some way with this mob. There has to be a connection between these deaths and the murderer! Toxicroak is a cop, so he can’t be the killer. Plus, he was with Croagunk the whole time…”

Togekiss stops breathing as she comes to the realization of who the real murderer is--Nidoking is actually the murderer. Her stomach twists around and she swallows down stomach acids. She throws all the pages off the desk and scatters them on the ground.

“Why’d you do it, Toxicroak? Why did you kill Blissey?” you ask grudgingly.

“I didn’t. It’s time you know my past life, Croagunk.”

“Past life? You told me you were homeschooled and lived in the Sevii Islands all your life.”

“You’re a gullible idiot. No one lives in the Sevii Islands. I was part of this mob, this gang, with Victini and a bunch of other guests here.”

You make a disgusted face and look at him. You grab a pair of cuffs hanging from your belt and cuff his wrists behind his back. You throw him down in a chair and let the cuffs slide against the back of it.

“Why didn’t you use those before?!” he barks.

“Because cuffs have a very negative connotation. I wanted everyone to remain calm and casual. You, on the other hand, I don’t mind binding to a chair.”

“You’re making a mistake. I was part of a gang that is being murdered. If you don’t catch the criminal, then I’m going to be the next to go!”

“Do you know who the murderer is, then?”

“I’m not quite sure to be honest. There are a lot of people that hate us, though even Nidoking denies ever being a part of us. We’ve still remained friends, but he acts like nothing happened. I’m not proud of what we did, but I’ll own up to it.”

“What did you do, exactly?”

“It’s a terrible crime,” he sighs. “We attempted regenerative genocide.”

Togekiss flies down the stairs to find you and Toxicroak.

“That man is evil!” she says as she points to Toxicroak.

“Trust me, I know,” you tell her.

“No, you don’t understand! He, and, and, and Nidoking! Where is Nidoking? He isn’t on the couch! He could be the killer! Get Toxicroak out of here! Call 911!”

“Hear me out, Togekiss,” Toxicroak pleads.

Togekiss stops talking.

“It isn’t me. I...I loved Blissey. I’ve loved her for so long and Victini killed her husband-to-be just for me. I made my move and we’ve had some sort of secret romance going on. I wouldn’t have ever killed this woman in my life. She didn’t deserve this fate. No one did...except for maybe Victini.”

“Were you planning on killing him, too?”

“No, he and I were good friends from high school. He conned me into joining the gang because--wait, did you say Nidoking wasn’t on the couch?”

Roselia asks Smeargle about the deed to the mansion.

“You know where it is, don’t you?”

“I’m a cook. You’d be better off asking Cinccino’s decaying body,” Smeargle replies.

“Tell me where this deed is or I’ll…”

“You’ll what? Rose me to death?”

“I’ll make up some evidence to get you convicted on five different counts of murder,” Roselia smiles with a flick of the rose.

Smeargle’s face drains. “You wouldn’t. You don’t have proof.”

“Don’t I? You cooked the meals, you saw the secret romance between Cinccino and Victini, and you could have easily killed them for Sneasel. You were always soft on her. Gardevoir was annoying to you and Sneasel was bossy. Blissey was just in the way of your murderous idea to kill the cat!”

Smeargle listens to the logic and shrugs. “Good enough for me….to not be the murderer. Why would I kill my boss and have a war on cats?”

“I--”

“Exactly.”

“I’m right here in the basement, Slowpoke. Come out like a man and accept your fate!” Nidoking grunts as he crawls down the stairs. In the basement is one small light bulb that lights up a portion of the room.

“It’s been a long time,” Slowpoke says from the darkness.

“Stop hiding and face me! It’s time and we both know it! I...I got your note.”

Nidoking is suddenly pulled to his feet and forced into a standing position. He struggles to free himself and sees Slowpoke come out with a knife in his hands.

“Rattata are interesting little creatures. Especially the baby ones living in this very room. Did you know they are drawn to blood? All it takes is one..”

Slowpoke walks closes. “Small.”

He stands on his hind legs and slashes at Nidoking’s legs, causing large gashes that begin to spew blood out of each leg. “Cut.”

Slowpoke throws his arms in the air and slams Nidoking down with his Psychic. Rattata begin to squeak and come out of the shadows.

“If you’re interested, my Psychic is controlling the blood in your body. I learned how to direct the blood upon having to regenerate myself from near-death. Before you die, I want to recount the life story of Slowpoke.”

“A baby Slowpoke walks out of his arctic home to see his parents conversing about something in private. He cocks his head in interest but cannot make out the words. They speak in quiet to protect the child. Both parents, a male Slowking and his wife, a Slowbro, were in charge of the arctic tribe back in the Seafoam Islands. They were able to regenerate their health back almost instantly--almost as though there was no “switch and gain one third” rule. They were almost immortal. Almost.

“One day, a private jet landed gracefully among the glaciers in the area. The baby Slowpoke’s parents welcomed the travellers. One was a small V-eared creature, a Pokemon named
Victini. Cinccino, Nidoqueen, Blissey, Sneasel, and another Pokemon, a fearsome Ground/Poison named Nidoking, came behind him. They pretended to be tourists, visitors. My whole Slow Tribe was slaughtered the next day. My grandparents went first, then my aunts and uncles, and then my siblings. The baby Slowpoke was hiding under its little bed and saw the tiny footsteps of a malicious Victini. It gulped and was then sensed by the creature. It only managed to use Scald on the icy ground floor to sink through and hide in the ocean. It escaped. It beat the odds.

But its parents did not. Their corpses were not found. Instead, they were taken. Tested on. Experimented with. The baby Slowpoke moved to Bafu Town upon hearing of the same Victini being elected. He got a degree in Chemistry to learn how to handle poisons. He beat the odds again. He did some undercover work and learned that his parents were both killed upon the project’s failure. Disposed of like some dirty rags. The baby Slowpoke, all grown up now, decided to suck up to this murderer to do the same thing back. And he did.

I do not regret my past actions. I sat in satisfaction and watched as Victini quickly died of his poison. I felt so satisfied watching him be unable to regenerate, unable to survive. It felt good. After I had succeeded in the murder, I moved on to the rest of the gang. Cinccino was an easy target. She was bathing when I swung the door open and all I had to do was hold her down and then swipe at her dead corpse afterward. You, Nidoking, were my next target, but the chandelier only weakened you. I felt terrible when Gardevoir kicked the bucket, but she insulted my intelligence one too many times.

Now Sneasel’s death was the most difficult, but not because of her. I just used one of the Ice Shards she used to sharpen her claws in the morning (it acted as a nail file or something) to stab her, and she humorously turned into a Gligar, too. When my Psychic abilities sensed an incoming teleportation, I was forced to cut off my tail and act as though I, too, was attacked.

I overheard the corrupt lawyer speaking with Toxicroak about how she was going to let Purrloin die slowly. I was going to kill her eventually, but a quick head-bashing ended her pretty quickly.

Each time, I was never the real suspect. Smeargle and Toxicroak were such nice tools in this game of revenge. Smeargle, who is actually a pretty decent fellow, was so susceptible to blame thanks to these ignorant guests. Toxicroak’s a jerk, so I completely understand why he’s been blamed. I’m going to kill him, too. You all deserve it for what you’ve put me through.”

Nidoking sees the Rattata at his body now. He writhes around on the ground, but they start biting at him. He begins to panic. He’s losing too much blood.

“Revenge is so satisfying,” Slowpoke sighs.

“And that’s a wrap,” Natu says loudly.

She exposes herself and her video camera into Slowpoke’s view. He turns his back on Nidoking and looks straight at her.

“You don’t know what you’re doing, Natu…”

Natu turns the camera to herself and smiles, holding her microphone handle with a ball of cotton glued to it. “This is Ace Detective Natu at the right place and right time! Slowpoke is the true culprit of this mass murder here in Bafu Town, and your very own reporter has just gotten complete proof of it.

Slowpoke opens his mouth and blows out a breath of Flamethrower straight at Natu, who teleports and levitates Slowpoke with Telekinesis. He wriggles in the air in panic and she smiles at her success. He begins to use another attack, but Natu’s Me First attack causes Slowpoke to get hit with a Psychic attack. He is knocked unconscious and falls to the floor. She uses Skill Swap so he can’t recover from the attack. Natu runs over and scares the Rattata away from Nidoking, but he isn’t conscious, or maybe he isn’t alive. She doesn’t know. His legs have been gnawed off and he lost a lot of blood. She teleports over to you and tells you and everyone else exactly what had happened….

Two cop cars, one a truck of sorts, park at Victini’s mansion. In one, a small pink Water-type Pokemon is incapacitated and thrown in the back of the boxed-in mobile cell. The other car is your standard car. You take the cuffed Toxicroak into the back of the car and ducks his head in as he goes. Nidoking would also be in the car, but an ambulance has taken him to the emergency room hospital in Bafu Town. Purrloin, too, was taken, but Slowpoke actually healed her up enough for her to have a better look toward the future. A hospital now lacking a doctor.

Convicted: Slowpoke (rev3rsor)

Winner: Natu (PMJ)

Epilogue

This is a short list of what’s happened to the characters after a few months:

You and Natu: As for you, Natu took your position and forced you into early retirement. You live in an apartment and work in a small cubicle as the deskman at your police station. Natu is now your boss, and she has turned into a five star detective and boosted in pay. Not only that, but next year she is set to star in a three-season TV show about her opinions on open cases around the world.

Roselia: Roselia ended up taking control of the mansion and turning it into a giant greenhouse, and she’s brought more floral attractions to Bafu Town than ever before. She has turned into the popular Pokemon when it comes to anything flowers, and she has finally found happiness in what was once despair.

Purrloin: Purrloin resorted back to her sneakiness. She has been arrested three times on theft, but she always manages to slip out of the cops’ control. She still has her shard draped around her neck in a necklace, though the other piece has been destroyed. Purrloin plans on staying a thief until the day she finally gets caught because it’s the only thing she has left that’s worth living for.

Smeargle: Smeargle has opened a restaurant that is indeed named Le Smear, and Pokemon are able to decorate their own foods with little condiments and ice their own cakes. They have their own paint canvases and are able to watch Smeargle make the best cakes through a glass panel. Smeargle has put all of Victini behind him and has turned into a mini celebrity among art critics.

The Couple: Togekiss divorced Nidoking while he was still in the emergency room and she now lives happily with a Braviary in the mountains. She got a job as an undercover agent that sometimes investigates different scandals such as the one she had discovered before. She didn’t even shed a tear upon hearing that Nidoking did actually die, though it was from unrelated natural causes.

Toxicroak: The former cop lived in life imprisonment and was beaten repeatedly each day by his inmates. He no longer had the pride as before and saw life as an unnecessary plague. He hanged himself soon after joining prison in order to finally feel at peace with himself. His name had been tarnished to the point where people cheered when hearing of his demise.

Slowpoke: Slowpoke went to court and coincidentally learned the move Amnesia. He has been placed in a mental facility governed by a Reuniclus, one whose ability is Regenerator. Rumor has it that Reuniclus allowed you to sneak out and make Toxicroak hang himself, though there has been no confirmation if that is true. It may just be a story, but Slowpoke got his revenge. In only twelve years, when he’s released due to good behavior, he plans to move elsewhere and restart his whole career. In his eyes, he succeeded overall.

Extras

This was the leftover death order that was randomly generated (key: how (s)he was going to die; why (s)he was killed):
Nidoking (he was going to die like the way he was hurt in this episode; he was part of the mob).
Purrloin (she was going to die of the poison in the end despite Slowpoke’s efforts; Roselia’s poison accidentally got to her)
Togekiss ([Didn't think I’d get this far] she was going to be electrocuted somehow; she just knew too much for her own good)
Roselia (burnt to death with flamethrower; she was in the way)
Toxicroak (disembodied via Psychic; last of gang to be killed)
Natu (didn't come up with reason because I knew I wouldn't get this far; she was annoying)
Smeargle (read Natu’s explanation; he was the last one left, but Slowpoke liked him)

Thank you guys for playing the game--I hope you all had fun! Do you want me to have a sequel to it or should this be a one-time thing? Let me know your feedback!

Hmm. Alright. Slightly sad that I got found out but sstills fun game nevertheless. (Keeping it short since I'm on phone)

Oh, that's why it was so obviously Smeargle. He was going to die last. >.>
Really thought it was Toxicroak, but not surprised that it was in fact Slowpoke in the end (suspected him until Cinccino's death, which made me think somebody with... Faster reflexes had to be the culprit).

I'm up for round 2!

I suspected that it was Slowpoke ever since Turtwig told me... after I opted to die.

Slowpoke was one of my main suspects, although I didn't have much evidence to back it up. Congrats to PMJ for figuring it all out!

Overall, an excellent game! I was very invested in the story the whole way. Great job, Turtwig!

I would certainly be up for another round of this. This idea definitely has a lot of ways you can change it up and make it more interesting.

And now Gardevoir can rest in peace knowing that her murderer is locked up. It is a shame I had to go so early though...anyways very fun game and I hope to see a sequel soon ^_^

Hey guys, I've been following this game since the very beginning. I was going to play, but a certain someone took the last stop about a minute before I discovered the thread XD. Very very very interesting game and story, I never would have thought Slowpoke was the killer. I got a few questions tho. In some moment of the game, Sneasel tells Toxicroak he has to kill something, and I'm pretty sure that's the only point in wich that is mentioned. Also, just for the fun to know: How did Slowpoke have the speed to go back with everyone before Croagunk comes?
PLEAAAAAAASE make sequel, hopefully I won't get ninja'd this time.
EDIT: spot* XD and also i forgot to actually ask what toxicroak was supposed to kill.
