Trace renders Heatran's most potent attack (Fire Blast) useless because it copies Flash Fire. Eviolite boost shoots up it's Defense and Special Defense, allowing you to successfully cripple Heatran with Thunder Wave, and kill it off slowly with Thunderbolt while restoring HP with Recover. Because of Porygon2's high Special Defense, Heatran even with Specs can't pose a threat to Porygon2 unless it is able to use Fire Blast, and because of Trace, it isn't.

Just curious, but how many Tyranitar actually run Earthquake? It's redundant coverage.

None of them do. Seems rather unusual to take a Pokemon that doesn't usually run Earthquake and just slap Earthquake on it to counter Heatran.

Well that must be why I suck :p Because that's the moveset I'm running on my one team right now XD I'll get rid of that I guess then. I usually used EQ cuz it doesn't miss but I guess I'll change that.

;P You could always just replace Earthquake on TTar with Superpower. Pretty sure that'll cut it but run the damage calcs just incase.

Politoed @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Drizzle

Nature: Modest
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
-Focus Blast
-HP Grass

Politoed changes the weather to Rain, making its Hydro Pump more powerful, allowing it to OHKO Heatran. The good thing is that Heatran does not OHKO Politoed after SR with HP Grass, so Politoed can out speed it with Choice Scarf and fire back. Politoed is a cool counter. : )

HP Grass to Politoed = 71.65 - 84.11% (2HKO after SR)

Hydro Pump to Heatran (rain) = 148.76 - 174.69%

Very defensively bulky. Icicle Spear breaks past Multiscale and OHKO's Dragonite.

Even without hazards, he can still be 2HKOed, so this Cloyster is a check at best.

why is the last slot slashed?
why jolly?
why max speed?

I'd like these answered before I post my counter.

Probably to outspeed Timid Heatran... thats really the only reason to run max speed+Jolly on Nite. Honestly, the only thing you can really do against banded Nite is predict which move he's going to use and switch to the appropriate counter.

tdl max speed on cb dnite ( adamant ) is pretty standard and the most useful spread

not sure about eq slash with superpower tho

reserving post for counter

I can get max speed somewhat, but jolly is like the worst ability to give cb dnite.

Its still got 2 moves in the last spot. There's no way to counter certain Pokemon if they have infinite coverage moves.

Can stall it out with Brave Bird and Roost. Can afford to switch in when safe. Fire Punch does less than 50%
