Counter That Pokemon! - Round 20

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Ummm... You switch in, he QDs. He Hurricanes you live and kill with Waterfall or Outrage.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Implying it will always QD.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Blissey @Leftovers
Bold Nature
252 HP/252 Def/6 SpDef
~Seismic Toss
~Toxic
~Wish
~Protect

...works just as good as chansey, but gets the addition of leftovers recovery??

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Swellow @ Flame Orb
Adamant
Guts
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
- Protect
- Facade
- Brave Bird
- U - Turn

I say this is bound to kill Volcarona, thanks to Guts kicking in. Brave Bird is a guranteed OHKO on him.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Not to mention Swellow is a bad Pokemon who is outclassed by Staraptor / [insert any ou physical sweeper here].

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

I don't even think Staraptor can come in on it lol. I think he experienced the same problem as I in Round 1; I forgot about the aspect of switching in to an attack.

BTW Bippa, the Volcarona sprite is broken.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

I'd like to revive this and see where it goes. Maybe just for one round ;D. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. But for now:

Keldeo @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (-Atk, +Spe)
-Calm Mind
-Hydro Pump
-Secret Sword
-HP Ice

You may not use Jellicent as a counter in this round. Good luck if this works.

Edit: Also assume Rain.

Latios @ Choice Specs
252 SpA/252 Spe/4HP
Timid
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Psyshock
- Surf

Fairly simple counter. It can come in on pretty much anything (HP Ice won't even 2HKO iirc) and you can Psyshock to punish any boosts.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Slowbro @Lefties
252 hp/212 def/44 sdef
Bold
Regenerator

Scald
Psyshock
Recover derp Slack Off
Calm Mind

Take very little from all of its moves, heal when necessary. Easily win CM wars as you resist Secret Sword and have tons of defense while Psyshock hits Keldeo for SE damages and Keldeo has no where near as much physical bulk. Also can't even be worn down by repeatedly switching in due to Regenerator.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Spr_5b_245.png

Suicune @Leftovers
Pressure
252 HP/128 SpA/126 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spe)
-Calm Mind
-Toxic
-HP Electric
-Substitute/Rest

Yeah, mono Electric damage sucks, but it stops Suicune being Taunt bait.
I find this fairly unorthodox, but I've used it before to counter Keldeo and I've found it can do quite a good job of it. It can switch in on Hydro Pump and HP Ice, and its huge defense means that Secret Sword will takea few hits to KO it. Meanwhile, it can set up a sub (if using), Toxic Keldeo and set up CMs. If HP gets low then Rest (if using). Eventually due to PP issues from Pressure will mean Keldeo will have to resort to use HP Ice and Hydro Pump. Eventually due to being Toxic'd and being hit with HP Electric Keldeo will find itself low on HP.

EDIT: Changed Extrasensory to HP Electric.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

The set you have is not really viable in OU. Sure a CM variant is fine, but Extrasensory is not something you would ever use on Suicune. Scald, Surf, and Ice Beam are the only damaging moves you'd really use besides HP Electric on Offensive Suicune.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 2

Slowbro does not counter.

Toxicroak
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 244 HP/ 252 Atk / 12 Def
Ability: Dry Skin
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch

Switch it to Specs Keldep lol. CM Keldeo is a joke.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Okay edited it, now Hydro Pump in the rain has a 0% chance of 2HKOing after SR and Lefties, so Slowbro can use Slack Off until Hydro Pump runs out of PP or misses and then start setting up CMs/Psyshocking it.

While this may counter Keldeo, Suicune itself is really not viable in OU, especially when you take away Scald. Running mono-Electric coverage is just a waste of a Suicune.

Also, thanks for reviving this Yoshi.

I agree that Specs is better, sorry about that. However, if I change it now, then people may have to change their sets. But for now:

647.gif

Keldeo @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (-Atk, +Spe)
-Icy Wind
-Hydro Pump
-Secret Sword
-HP Ghost

If there is debate about the set then LMK. I'm not too good at this, I just thought this needed revival ;D. No bans now because of HP Ghost, but still if anyone disagrees LMK.

Jellicent @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Def / 220 SDef
- Scald
- Toxic
- Recover
- Shadow Ball

Mr. Monopoly here fears nothing at all from this Keldeo set. HP Ghost is a 3HKO, after factoring Stealth Rock. Jellicent can Recover off the damage from HP Ghost, taking its time widdling it down with Toxic damage and Shadow Ball.

252 SpA Keldeo Hidden Power Ghost vs. 252 HP / 220+ SpD Jellicent: 27.22 - 32.17%

252 SpA Keldeo Icy Wind vs. 252 HP / 220+ SpD Jellicent: 5.19 - 6.18%

Obviously, Hydro Pump and Secret Sword do nothing.

RE: Counter That Pokemon! - Round 9

Okay, I'm sorry for this round, which wasn't as popular because of the set change, but I think that all of the Pokemon posted are fine for voting. I'm not going to pick one because I'm not very good at picking the best counter, but here's what we'll do first. I'll list all the entries, and you're allowed to turn down an entry (as long as you back up your statement) and approve an entry. The entry that gets the most positive votes wins. I want to make this fair for the community, but hopefully Bippa will take over (I just didn't want to see this die ;D). So here we go:

-Chillarmy's Specs Latios
-Dark Void's Bulky Slowbro
-TDL's (Pride's) Toxicroak
-Bippa's Specially Defensive Jellicent
-Paddy's Rogue Suicune

Good luck!
