May had Drew, so Ash doesn't need to worry about her. Dawn won't go with Paul, he's too cruel. And she won't go with Kenny. You don't go with someone you've known since childhood...

Definitely.
I mean May is good at contests, but sinnoh contests are different.
Plus, Dawn has the advantage of contests running in her family.

Yes, Dawn is basically Contest pedigree, May just did Contests on a whim. Whoemever she marries and if she has a daughter, her daughter will be like Dawn
