have any of you ever tried to quit buying pokemon cards?

what is the longest time that you have ever gone without buying any cards?

have anything weird ever happened just as soon as you decided to quit that made you decide not to quit ?

have you ever taken the amount of boosters you have bought over your life time and multiplied it times the average price of a booster? how much did it come out to and is it alot ? do you think its a waste of money now that you think about it?

****have any of you asked yourself any of the above questions. i have actually calculated that at least i have bought around 400 to 500 boosters so far or maybe even more ! if i take 500 boosters and multiply that by an average of $3.50 per booster it comes out at a total of $1750 . if i continue buying booters at aproximatly the same rate trought out the upcoming dp series i calculate that it would be approxametly an other $1800 wasted in the next year . that alot if you think about it . i could have bought alot of much better stuff with that money and probably even at least a used car! i could have bought a playstation 3 , an xbox 360, a nintendo wii , a ds and even a psp with all that money and stiil have some money left ! i have tried quitting pokemon is addicting . i have even gone to the store telling my self im going to quit because its a waste of money and im never going to get any more good cards anyway. i tell myself im going to buy only a few more cards this month and an then quit the following month and guess what happens, the pokemon ex start coming like crazy! just this last couple of weeks i have been buying booster singles at target and pulled 6 pokemon ex in a row!

so have any of you had similar sitiuation to this and how did/are you deal/ing with it ?

I have never wanted to quit because pokemon is awesome and I won't give up until it ends and I have never tried quiting because it is fun and when I can afford to get cards and games I get them because the cards are awesome and now is not the time to quit.:)

One time, my parents didn't allow me to buy because of my studies.(4 months)That's why I hate my dad so much :D.One time I planned to quit it because everytime I buy a booster there are no good cards in it.I stopped 2 moths because of that but resumed buying at the release of CG.

I have always tried to quit. However, as soon as I do, I begin to miss all the friends that I made while playing Pokemon, so it immediately draws me back into it.

I never buy cards so the ones about buying cards don't really apply, but I can tell you it has been very difficult for me to quit playing the game.

Hmm, maybe I should use your technique to get exs in boosters... I've tried quitting... But I'm just the same as Whicker...

i am what you could call an all around geek! as in do many things from TCG BG RPG Minis MORPG etc etc

so im allways jumping for one geekness to another, and that makes it easy for me to quit ptcg... just give me something new.

I have one word for you. Yu-Gi-Oh!

I tried to quit last year, after Worlds but I couldn't do it, since I immediately got bored. I rarely buy packs, usually I get singles on Ebay (it's cheaper) so I don't really know about that. I would say Pokemon owns me :(.

Arcanine out.

Really, if you think about it, buying singles is no Prob at all. Andn playing it isn't either. The only bad bit of it is boosters.

I've tried quitting, but right before I would have stopped buying packs and going to prereleases my best friend started, and so I'd have felt guilty quitting on him. I've probably spent over $2000 on cards. (I started 7 years ago.)

Pokémon doesn't own me, I guess I could stop buying packs, I just have not even the slightest intention to do so, I have the possibility to afford a lot of packs, and playing Pokémon makes me feel good, so I would I stop? It's not like it's harming my health, the opposite, it made me a lot of friend, and even got me in America O_O
anyhow, even if I did quit pokémon, i think I would still go here, the only thing that would really hurt me would be getting rid of my mew collection.
I'm hoping to be able to stick with Pokemon another few years, maybe get a Job for Nintendo :F (like that'll ever happen), we'll see, never think too much about the future, today might be your last day, enjoy it :)

Me? longest time excluding trading, 3 months. Though I have opened just 20 packs and 3 Decks. In Thailand, I buy booster packs for $3 (120 Baht) and a Deck for $10.25 (450 Baht). Let me calculate: 3*20=60, 10.25*3=30.75+60 makes it $90.75 (around 3,630 Baht). Is that cheap or what? I've played Pokemon since 25th of June 2006. Oh, and by the way, I have never bought any DF booster packs.

I own Pokemon! They don't own me! I decided to stop buying booster packs cause it did more harm than good for me and just buy the games and keep my rare cards
while either sell or giving away the others.

;D

Well....for some of us who don't have CC's, we are forced to buy packs. :( I wanna move to a place where they have PR's and CC's, so I can 'win' packs. (Like that'll ever happen)
