Starmie needs 7 energy to OHKO the 130 HP crowd, 8 if they carry an expert belt.
Pelipper GE needs 5 to do both.
 
If you guys ask me, i think SP pokemon will still be dominating the format with HG/SS. There is nothing that makes Them un-playable. The only thing they have to worry about is the release of DCE, and that actually helps a lot of SP's too, but i think we will have to wait past HG/SS for any SP threats.

Eh on the SP part. The reason why SPs don't run many special energy cards(barring call energy and the occasional multi energy) is that they are very difficult to search for, and SPs NEED energy fast. So, DCE would do good, but also do a big amount of damage to them, in a way.

Pellipper GE needs 3 energy to do any damage. Starmie also has 10 more HP. And then as you said, Starmie can use energy attached to all pokemon, and you don't need to send all energy back. And to top it off, Pellipper is getting rotated very soon while Starmie will stay the enxt two years...

Anyway this set is good because of the cards you have mentioned already, and the one most important card. DOUBLE COLORLESS ENERGY.

That 10 HP more is gonna save Starmie from being OHKO'd by.....

Yeah, nothing. Also, what is keeping Gatr from NOT splooshing all energy on Pelipper and just put on EXACTLY enough?

Thats not the only major changing factor.
Stage 2 pokemon will be back with a vengance. For a long time now its been all about SP pokemon and stupid 1 energy attacks.
Now there will be lots of stage 2 decks going around.
Many of the new cards have really cheap attacks too. Lots of "1 for 30" damage attacks. ECT.

The new amphy makes for a great lock/spread deck.
 
Of course it's not the only major factor, but it's the only one I care about, and it's the only one I think will make the biggest impact. For those reasons, I like the set.

Well Starmie lets you empty your hand for Uxie or Claydol without wasting any energy.
 
Whatever. I just prefer Starmie. You can also easily tech in Starmie RR, being in the same line, which can retrieve a {W} energy from the discard pile. Starmie's got free reteat too but Pelipper's retreat of 1 isn't much worse I guess. It's all really just a matter of preference, and Starmie seems to appeal to more...
 
Hey, its your call. If you prefer to pay 8 energy to OHKO an Expert Belted Kingdra over 5, be my guest. I know whats easier...
 
Yes, it seems really good, and I have a whole bunch of decks that I want to make now since there is going to be a whole bunch new cards.

I was wondering when we were going to get those. That would be cool if they surface before the official date of the set...
 
Hey I was watching youtube videos of people opening Soulsilver and Heartgold boxes. I saw that they were getting Primes as Reverse Holo's, do think that will happen in the English sets. As whenever they got a Legend half they would get the other half reverse holo, will that also happen in the English sets? Do people know yet?
 
I sure hope both legend halves come in the same pack...
