I think the media is for little kids ( tv show, cards) but the game is fine for anyone.
It is a game that keeps on growing.

How'd you force him?

He came over to my house...and I put Platinum on my DS, and hi ho the derio he loved it.

oh and @ Sleeper
The TV show may be based towards little kids - but the card game requires alot of Strategy and High Reading ability (Which most kids dont have)

Your friends make fun of you for playing Pokemon? Huh.
Most of my friends don't care. They mostly joke how I'm such a big fan of Lady Gaga. :\

Fair enough but Nintendo aim the cards towards little kids. Older kids and adults notice that there is only one good card in the pack.

TCG- Note that it says "Recommended for ages 10 and up" And I see why. When I was 9 and younger I didn't like pokemon. The minute it hit 12 AM March the 15th I woke up and said to my mum (who was half asleep) Can we buy some pokemon cards?

Lol. It's a year since I've been playing, and because only 1 person (aka me) Knows how to play the cards properly, I'm the champion. I have 1 folder with some cards. I take lotsa care too.

Gaming- Well, I guess ou c'n call me a medium. only 1 of mah pokemon are vlv 100, but 2 others are getting there. I have recently stopped playing, due to the fact that:
1. My DS freezes every 30 minutes
2. I have to start again in HG SS
3. I have the internet connection, A newer faster computer, and I have 4 Command and conquer games installed (TW3, TW3KW, RA3, TT4)

Anime- Meh. since channel 10 always starts from the beginning whenever we reach the part with canalve city, I decided to stop, seeing that this has already happened 3 times in a row.

Pokemon was meant to be a kids game, I think, but it's just too addicting for the older half of the community not to enjoy it. I love playing the TCG and video games, although I don't admit it or anything at school. You know how school is, it gets out, you're a joke at school.

Otherwise, it's very fun and NOT for kids only. Seeing also that there are more people over the age of 16 playing pokemon then people below that. (It's been that way at tourney's at least.. 200 at the last tourney, 103 was masters lol)

If they make fun of you for it say its just a game, like mario or w/e. Mario was also aimed at kids, but people of all ages have fun playing it, right? Or just watch a bunch of bad rated movies to make up for it D:

If anyone laughed at me or anything for playing the TCG, I'd always tell them "Hey, why not? I don't spend money in this game, and I just make more and more at tourney's for free. Not to mention, I can win SCHOLARSHIPS!". They usually shut up then.

No, I collect the cards, play the video games, read the manga, and watch the anime.

That is until you're in college where just about everyone gets defensive over their hobbies. I remember talking to this one guy playing Diamond (at this time, I was turned off by RSE) and just said "pokemon"? (it wasn't even in the "omg I can't believe he stills does" tone") and his response "Yeah, I still play pokemon, is that a problem?"

Sheesh....

wow I did NOT know that you could win scholarships. I'm no good at the TCG anyway, unless it's only the FIRST gen cards lmao.
that's a good way to get them quiet anyway XD

The anime is, for sure. But the games and the TCG (mostly the TCG) have a wide age range. As long as you understand the rules, and can play it effectively, there is no age limit.

Show is based more for kids. However, the TCG competive VG aspect is not. I'm what you would call a "Little Kid" since I am 10. However, look at all the people in VGC, TCG, everywhere. Just say ist more complcated than you think. (Which it is)

As I've seen it, it seems to be like this at EVERY TCG tourney I've gone to. I'll use this recent regionals as an example.

We had close to 250 people. Of that 250, there were 100 in just masters. That's over 100 people over the age of 16. That number is DOUBLE of what was there in Seniors/Juniors COMBINED just about. There is NO way that the TCG for sure is for little kids. The VG isn't much different, although you have mostly kids playing it, but their not all the time little. Older people just don't play things like DS's and such much.

that's because, I think, the TCG requires more strategy than the games does. but still, the game does require a lot of thought.

Honesty I'm more embarassed about the masters who play pokemon moreso than the kids. Kids are kids, but the hobos you see at tournaments just make pokemon shameful at times.... I don't think the TCG or VGC is for little kids, but many immature mid/highschool people don't recognize it. The anime is designed for kids, kidish, and well... reminds me of the shows I watched on PBS kids when I was little. Arthur FTW!!!!

I feel nostalgic for Arthur now lol.

But in all seriousness, it is truly made for everyone. It has a simplicity a little kid can understand, yet it has a competitive level that attracts and challenges even adults. (In both TCG and VG) The only aspect I would say is truly made for children is the anime. This is easily seen when we see the same plot-lines over and over again. They can get away with this, however, because there will always be new children who weren't around/old enough to remember the first time the plot was used.

This makes no sense though. If they wanted to show plot points that occurred years before, then what is stopping them from simply reairring older episodes? Why waste time and money to reintroduce some plot points that are not incredibly major in the first place? I don't believe age should excuse that.

Perhaps to show off new Pokemon? That would be my best guess. After all, a given anime era tries to show off Pokemon from a given generation. (Like Hoenn Pokes in Advanced, Sinnoh in D/P, Johto in Johto Journies, and so on.)

I don't specifically think that this show goes for only little kids. There could be like 20+ year olds watching the series. The TCG is for all ages.
