Don't you think that the format is a little stale?

I really feel that the format is extremely stale. Luxchomp seems to be the only deck used! What do you think POP should do? Rotation, a new card, a new mechanic? Post what you think!

Mods, I put this in the wrong place. Could you please move it?

JMP - .enod dna enod

i would definitely say that they should make a new engine, like SP, that would be great, although i doubt they will at least until sps are rotated. but there is some variety, although i must agree with you to a certain extent

There's enough variety, the reason it's stale is because of so many netdeckers.

Luxchomp
Blazeray
DialgaChomp
Luxape
Gengar varients
AMU
PUMA
Pl0x
Torterrible
Magnezone
Rampardos
Gyarados
Garchomp stage 2
Tyranitar
Regigigas
Machamp
Flygon
Dusknoir

It Top Cutted at SoCal (Masters) so I wouldn't dismiss it.

There are a ton of decks with a lot of variety. The problem is the similar decklists and the netdeckers. So true...

dmaster out.

I think the most played and best functioning decks are SP's, but there are many other options that have advantages and disadvantages. Plus the new set opens up a lot of more options, and Lost Link will blow the format apart.

The reason why LuxChomp is so go is that it's SP. Not only does it have an amazing engine, it also has Power Spray, lightning and colorless types, and amazing powers (Healing Breath/Bright Look).

In my area, at least in seniors, Luxchomp is rarely played. I think that out of 44 players only 5 were playing Luxchomp. Jumpluff and Gyarados were the main decks played.

Don't just call anyone who plays LuxChomp a netdecker. I play it and threw a small spin upon it, but I didn't directly copy a list offline.

Just because it's the BDIF right now doesn't mean it's easy to play or that everyone playing it just copied someone else's list. I think SP have the best engine in the format right now, but they also takes a lot of skill to play.

Vileplume RL comes out and LuxChomp will become MUCH less popular then.

Vileplume is weaker than you'd think. It's not that hard to just Bright Look it up and Flash Impact, as Vileplume's presence will shut off it's methods of escape and it's retreat cost isn't very favorable. The Vileplume player will also have wasted resources on getting Vileplume set up, hampering their set up anyway, and being slow isn't something you want to be facing Luxchomp.

One Rare Candy or a BTS+Gloom is all it takes, it's not THAT wasteful. Vileplume is the reason the current Japanese meta is WAY different than ours right now.

Still, what's there to stop it from getting Bright Looked? What is the Japanese meta right now anyway? (Just curious) Cause the Japanese have Vileplume in the same format as Claydol and Uxie, which we not by the time Vileplume comes out, so those resources are going to be a lot more wasteful if used on Vileplume.

i've never been a huge fan of the pokemon staple's for this format, and I see that they are doing slight change's for the new set's, it's just going to take sometime, maybe once rotation is done we can see what we have to work with instead of using cards from older set's because there is quite a lengthy selection to choose from for modified. cya

Vileplume works both ways.

Having an eternal Spiritomb would shut yourself down, especially if you're a stage-two.

There will be several cards in the new set that will impact the metagame. Ursaring PRIME can easily OHKO Garchomp C, Tyranitar and Crobat PRIME will also have big impacts. Raikou/Entei Legend could make a splash, as could Blastoise. I think that the format is kinda stale, but with the next set coming out, and the huge rotation we're anticipating this September, things will turn around for sure.

This format is nice because it has tons of options. Unfortunately Luxchomp is the best one. There isn't a good counter-deck either, as machamp has lost its edge with DCE equipped Uxie X running around.
