Wow. Don't you guys calculate damage? I do every time I battle the League I carefully select each move on it's power and type. And also it's meant to be super powerful! It's possible to do 16x damage already!

Try to play out the situation of a Fire/Flying move used on a Bug/Grass type.
THAT'S 8x damage, and completely ridiculous. /thread

There are plenty of game mechanics going on in the background, and you don't think about them when you play. Take the small random power boosts or the way damage is calculated, for example:
(((2*Level + 10)/250)*(Attack/Defense)*Base + 2)*Modifier

If you can't understand the multiplication and division behind dual-type moves, then I doubt you understand how damage is calculated in the first place. Yet, you don't complain about it. Seriously, "this is too confusing for me to understand" is not a really good argument against the implementation of "confusing" game mechanics. Like I said, dual type anything - dual-type pokemon or dual-type moves - involve just multiplication and division. So please.
Oh, and by the way, "because people (ME) are stupid and don't have the time to think of it. 1 type is enough for me. Why change it?" sounds very ego-centric.
Chiraami said:No one was ranting at you. cartman was showing you something. As far as I can tell, the arguememt is only going to get worse.
Chiraami said:Of course they aren't adding them! In all battle screenshots there are no dual type moves! And change it as pokemon games are about change! They change very time!
Posting your opinion isn't illegal.
runeon12 said:Yeah, but it's also possible that moves like Fire Punch don't affect Ghost types because part of it is Fighting. There are many different ways of looking at this, and rather than getting people angry at you and getting a bad name, look at other peoples ideas and consider them. Many people right now don't like you because you look at us like we're idiots, change that attitude and you'll be likeable.
cartman said:Umm, no. This is an example of a strawman, where you assert that the person says or thinks something (example: "you look at us like we're idiots" ; "again I have the right too my opinion"), when in fact he/she has never stated this.
Chiraami has never called anyone idiots.
I never said you can't have an opinion. I was, however, arguing against your opinion, and I stated reasons why.
And on that note, let's all state reasons to support our opinions instead of playing victims.

I don't like arguing or starting a flam war but please respect other people and there opinions. me and runeon are a perfect example of u saying "whatever I say is right"
cartman said:That's interesting. Right after I explained the concept of a strawman, you committed one. I never said "I was always right". As a matter of fact, this matter of dual-type moves is about right or wrong.
This is a game. Game developers can change it however they want.
It is my opinion that introducing dual-type moves will add more strategy and diversity to the gameplay.
It is your opinion that you don't want to play with dual-type moves because of whatever.
However, if you aren't complaining about the complicated damage formula and the multiplication/division calculation for dual-elemental pokemon, why would you complain about multiplication/division calculation for dual-type attacks? I want to stop discussing "hurt feelings" and discuss more about good ideas.
