What on Earth are you doing to my poor compass?

@Keeper of Night
I'll use a light Blizzard ahead to see if I can blow away the fog. I try to minimize the potential damage and make it just wind.
Vulpix releases a cold wind into the forest. Other than leaving frost on the nearby trees, no other effects are visible. The shadows seem to have gone.

Trapinch:
@Keeper of Night
I use Crunch and Signal Beam on the source of the humming.
Trapinch bites the ground with Crunch. His mouth full of dirt, he spits it out. It left an awful taste in his mouth, and he runs off to try and find a way to remove it.

@Keeper of Night, I shall, uhh, "do some work with the compass/clock". What could possibly go wrong.
Klink raises the compass between his gears, and begins to grind. The gods of this land must have taken pity, however, as the compass didn't break.

@Keeper of Night I look behind what we have of the note and see if there's any trace of, well, anything.
Shinx turns the note over, and find a large symbol on the other side. It's torn half way through, just as the note was. The symbol seems to have no meaning at the moment.

@Keeper of Night
I use Dragon Claw to start digging into the ground
Bagon begins clawing his way through the ground beneath him. He makes a reasonable hole before hitting mud, which causes him to slip. Tired, he lays there, unable to reach the top of the hole he had made.

@Keeper of Night , I shall ask to borrow the compass, and see what happens if I walk/bounce around the perimeter of the clearing with it.
Spoink takes the compass from Klink before he has the chance to try and grind it again. As she moves about the clearing, the needle seems to spin less rapidly the closer it is to the forest's edge.

@Keeper of Night I'd like to instead pick up a stick and use a very weak Flamethrower on it, creating a torch.
Chimchar breaks a small branch off a tree to make a torch, but finds the wood is too wet to light.

but before we think about leaving the clearing, i should like to use honey gather on the trees around the edge of the clearing @Keeper of Night
Cutiefly moves to try and find honey around the forest edge, but returns empty-handed.

If I do happen to miss your actions, simply quote them again. There are a lot of players and a lot of posts to read through, so you can understand when I miss a few. They'll still be processed all the same.

pichu (1).png Ohhhhh my. Ohhhhhh dear. You've done it, you've broke me and we aren't even a full day in.

pichu (1).png Interesting. We should follow Marchy, everyone~

so this clockslashcompassslashmissusklink seems to be trying to point downwards? to the center of this very clearing but underground? the same place as the ominous humming??!!?

i'll just be up here then while bagon disturbs that gigantic snoring slumber

*floats as high above the ground as i can go*

while you're at it, see if you can't cough up that other half a symbol ^_^

... Ahh, so that's what could possibly go wrong! Delightful. Right, then, @Keeper of Night, how's about we check out that nice-lookin' mossy tree over there? ^.^

[OOC- Forgot to mention in my last post @Keeper of Night, but you should probably change the "Sign-ups" in the title to "Active", to make it clear the game started. I kind of missed a whole day's worth of activity because I didn't think anything important was going on and we were still waiting for a few more sign ups.]

Please, be my guest.

*walks to the edge of the hole, careful to freeze the mud surrounding it with her steps*

I'll admit, this is not the way to leave me behind I was expecting.

But, whatever works for you.

*walks away from the hole*
...
it was a joke what the hell

Oooh *bounces even higher*

I'm like 90% sure the needle slowing down was because of something interesting and not the compass getting confused because of my bouncing. So the needle spins faster in the center and slows down the farther you bounce out, just like Spoink tires and slows down the farther out she bounces!

*eats an acorn because she doesn't have any cupcakes*

@Keeper of Night I will go a little closer to the center of the valley, eat an acorn for luck, and bounce high into the air, watching the compass all the time as I go up and down to see if the spinning needle's speed changes on the way up and on the way down. I wonder if something is buried down there, if the spinning might change depending on how far it is from the ground.

What on Earth are you doing to my poor compass?
Hey, I'm just using it to find directions.

I can't say what everyone else is doing with it... such things are beyond a humble spoink's ability to understand.
