Hi,

I was wondering if anybody is turning their lights off for Earth hour?
I just turned mine off, which makes it rather hard to type, XD
So yeah, I'm sitting in the dark, how 'bout you?

We had Earth hour here last night, and we didn't turn it off due to the fact that it takes more electricity to turn everything back on then it does to keep it on for an hour.

We used more Energy in my city last year during Earth hour than the previous years Non-Earth hour.

..., lol, well we just turn off the easy stuff, lights, computer, ect.

I'll turn it off in a hour and a half, when 8:30 is in my timezone.

dmaster out.

The Earth doesn't care if I have a light on, so I don't see the point...
It's not about if the earth 'likes it' they are trying to get you to conserv energy.

I heard about earth hour, but it doesn't look like anyone has done it here in Orange County. Idk if it was supposed to happen in CA yet but w/e...

Last year, I read a story, in which it was stated. More energy would be saved if everybody involved with Earth hour would switch one bulb to a cf style.

I did it ^_^
It was last night for me. 8:30 - 9:30pm GMT +8
We switched off the main power during this time.

Honestly, Only few did turned off their power where I live as well. =/

True, Energy IS renewable.
But I thought there is a price in converting any form of energy to electrical energy? Like carbon emissions, maybe?

The point wasn't exactly to conserve energy we use for electrical appliances, I think it was used so we can lessen Carbon emissions that happen due to energy conversion for electrical energy.

^ You shut off your lights for an hour. It was 8:30 last night to 9:30.
This is more supposed to be symbolic, rather than how much energy you can conserve in 1 Hour.
It's supposed to try and make people realize that Global warming is an issue, and to try and get the Government to do it also.

The government already realizes the global warming issue. It is also evident that they are trying to overcome this dilemma.

If I'm not mistaken a few decades back, there was a similar crisis to this, and the government was able to solve the problem fairly quickly. Global issues will require patience and determination by all countries.

Yes, but that is also one of the points of this. To get people in other countries to help with solving Global warming, the hour without light was supposed to be to think about doing other things, branching out and not using electronics and conserve energy.

I forgot about it. ;x We don't leave lights on forever anyway. I always turn my water off too. ;p

dmaster out.
