eBay scams: Opinion of WC cards being sold?

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

I stay far away from ebay.

Too many bootlegs/dishonest sellers.

And this is for everything and anything.

Completely untrue. Buy from sellers with no negative feedback and very few/no neutral feedback, read the item's description thoroughly, ask questions, and have common sense and there is very little danger in eBay.

a bit off topic but do u think its a good idea for worlds decks to be made?

It's a neat idea. It helps people learn the game, and the cards can also be used as proxies. Not to mention it brings some prestige to the game and the elite players.

On topic: As long as the listing admits that it's a WC card, is it illegal? No. Is it dishonest and immoral? Yes.

The problem is where the scan is of a legit luxray x, and then in the description in the smallest text available it says its a WC card.

Well to be accurate, its not a WC scan or a legit scan. Its the official artwork that was released as a teaser before RR came out. So still deceptive.

Funny thing is, is that that auction was the one I was thinking of :p

I need to ask, do you usually buy things without reading what it is first? Maybe that is why I don't see any problem here as I read to make sure what I think I am buying is what I am actually buying, but maybe that's just me.

I need to ask, how many people have the most important details in the large print? If they didn't want to scam people, they would put 'world championship card' in the title.

Have I been scammed? Nope. Have people been scammed by claims of 'only 99 cents!' with a '5 dollars subscription fee + 3 dollars a day' fine print.

That tiny, tiny 'WC', if you didn't know what WC stood for, then you would buy the card thinking that you were getting the real deal.

Scams are scams; if you apply your theory that every person is always 100% competent and never makes mistakes then nobody would get hacked because we would always know if a site is safe (the same way we know if a sale is real or not.)

If you're a 36 year old mother that has no interest in Pokemon except that your 12 year old son goes to tournaments, are you going to know what "WC" means in a post?

It is a neat idea, I agree with that. But it is causing a real problem IMO.

I honestly would prefer if they made the decks $20-30 and made them legal cards. I know a lot of you are thinking that would devalue all of your luxray X/uxie X/ect. But they already did that with Claydol (and uxie). Brought it from $25 to $2 basically overnight. And those were free cards.

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

What they should really do is add a comment section. So If someone knows that its WC they could leave it in the comments. I think there is a question section though. Maybe people should just ask if its a crummy World champ card.

yes, they can ask if its a worlds card. And in most cases any card that doesn't specifiy whether or not it is a worlds card has posted the answer to a question where they say its the real deal. The problem as I've said is that some people don't have an excessive enough knowledge of the pokemon franchise to know when they might be getting scammed. So they don't know they need to ask.

The comments section is interesting, although it would probably just end up like youtube comments where people just spam random insults for no reason what-so-ever. Or a dissatisfied customer would just spam hate messages on all of the seller's auctions.

because if you don't buy more packs then when the meta shifts the deck will be worthless

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

The meta would shift as more set are released just like now, can you tell without a shadow of a doubt that this years worlds winning deck will win again next year? You can't because it more than likely won't some elements may stay the same others (such as techs) will be different.

The world winning deck itself was different to standard luxchomp with the techs it ran if everyone ran those techs then people would start to tech against those decks

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

^ya, wait till lost link comes out in the US. *Wheew*

Lucario_aura_wielder said:
the meta necessarily wouldnt shift that deck would just be cheaper

who cares if the deck is cheaper. you shouldn't have to pay $80 for an Uxie X and $90 for a Luxray X to have a top deck. I think it should be more available to the common player. Luxchomp is a complicated deck, so it won't make that much difference anyway because a n00b won't be able to effectively use it.

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

Also, 1 seller is using WPM's scan~which is not allowed (could someone plz report that seller (& I'll pass it onto WPM)).
Before I got my 3rd (I traded off my 2nd) Claydol, I used the WC one as a proxie...mind you, I have all 5 decks in sleeves so that you couldn't tell if I was using a proxie or not.

Anyways, I'd be happy with a WC (or even a fake one (which I do have on me)) one & wait for the set to be rotated out so the price on it will drop.

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

off topic post http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=luxray%20gl%20x&_fln=1&_ssov=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=60&_udhi=75 those lux xs are a little cheaper

also most noobs wouldnt know how to use luxchomp cause its complicated but still if worlds decks were legal why would people buy packs?

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

They do have a book and it comes with the deck. If someone is to bid on something on eBay they should read the whole item description instead of going "OMGEE LOOK AT THE PRETTY PICTURE" and bidding 70$. WC decks are a very good idea and a great way see how your personal deck plays against other decks that are known to be successful. The lesson to be learned if to READ DESCRIPTIONS BEFORE BUYING ONLINE!

This is a post I wrote a while ago on this thread, http://pokebeach.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=81659&highlight=worlds+deck (sorry not sure how to quote things) and once again the lesson is EXAMINE THE ITEM THAT YOU ARE BUYING!!!! If they don't list it in the description give them the worst rep you possibly can, also it is a good idea to see there positive feedback, I won't buy from them if they are lower then 99.9%.

I'm not sure if you guys are intentionally missing my point over and over again, but some people, especially parents buying cards for their kids online, won't know what "WC" means in an auction. Its not that they aren't reading the description, they just don't know how PUSA is printing fake cards that they have to be wary of. No everyone is a poke-maniac like the people on this forum.

Also, based on my poll on the thread you pointed two, the majority of people voted on some kind of change to how the decks are.

RE: ebay scams Opinion of WC cards being sold?

hey i like buying cards on ebay sometimes i can get a card like toxicroak g promo or a spisritomb for very cheap but yeah u have to be a smart look at the picture look at the text when u click the picture and check the description if u do not do that then u will be scammed.
