I agree. I don't like playing noobs or non-competitive players too often because it's not a challenge, I love to be challenged. But that doesn't mean I won't battle them if they ask me to. And I show them respect just like I would to a competitive player. (the only time I ever turrn down a battle anyways is if I have to do something or I'm busy trading)

I also agree. I will play them once in a while to show them competitive decks and what works best, but I don't really find it at all fun to play them repeatively because the outcome isn't going to change or become challenging to get to.

Another reason that I don't really like playing against newer players is that I hate beating them horribly and crushing their spirits. I don't bring theme deck quality decks to league, and why would I? Playing those kinds of matches isn't fun for someone who has seen the competitive side of Pokemon. It's not that I feel superior to the less experienced players as a person, but I am a better competitive Pokemon player than them, simply because they either are playing for fun (which is fine) or they are new to the game. Does it make me a bad person/elitist to want to play someone of equal or greater skill level? It benefits me and the less experienced player, so that they can play someone who is of equal skill level to them.

Not playing someone and being disrespectful towards someone are different things. I would never flaunt a win or the fact that I am more experienced at the game in a new player's face. If they ask me for deck advice or strategy help, I'm happy to help them out. I don't like it when someone tells a new player what to change about their deck or to play a different deck without being asked, though. If they like the way their deck is, let them enjoy it. Live and let live.

Elitism is a part of everything in world, and we can't do anything about it. It's not like you can ban someone for elitism, so this whole thread is a little pointless.

I agree. There are quite a few players lately that I've noticed atleast that are elitists about the game, but they're really a select few. Elitism does exist in everything, and we can't really do anything to stop it.
