Shedinja with transient cry + floette flower veil could be interesting. Maybe even run the new sky stadium. (forgot the actual name) think about it. If you some how manage to get all four floette out, you'll need to run 4 evosoda and 4 wally to have a chance of course, but if you did that makes a 110 non-ex shedinja. With transient cry doing 50x each damage counter it could potentially do 500 damage for one energy!!! Its a lot to get out, I know but it could be fun.

*slaps down silent lab*
Nice try butt silent lab only works on basics.

Honestly, I'm finding the primary problem with Gallade is Mewtwo. Most decks run it and with 3 energy on each, that's a one hit KO. I guess it applies both ways, though... Also, if you apply a Wide lens, you could be hitting benched Mewtwos and other Fighting types for weakness. Hmm.... Bats/M-Gallade-EX/Forretress (?) - I'm going to try this out ^-^

Yea M Gallade EX and Bats sounds pretty good. I don't actually see much Mewtwo EX. If there is in your area, there is always next format for this deck to shine, assuming XY-On.

I've seen some people do, I'm going to throw down my thoughts and musings on the set...

Δ Plus - This ability knows no bounds. Dragonite can wield it particularly well with muscle band. Dustox's bench hitter could viable, maybe.
Δ Evolution - It could be helpful for some cards, especially with Wally's help. Togekiss has the best use Imo.
Δ Wild - Amazing to have four resistances. Almost a little broken~ too bad it's only on one already amazing 1hko machine.

>Beautifly< It may be a stage 2, but to have safeguard and the ability to move your opponents non-ex back to bench is really nice, alongside that free retreat yourself.
>Primal Dustox< Great for hitting weakened ex' from Beautifly
>Shedinja< Good setup for M-Gallade. You could possibly abuse his second attack with the correct setup.
>Talonflame< Enough of them already! Some draw power on this one though.
>Primal Arcticuno< 140 damage max, but unlikely. Good for basic. Has Plus.
>Voltorb< Ka-boom!
>Natu< Your cute~ and actually have a little punch. Dimensional Valley revenge killer.
>Primal Banette< Good for early stalling, but not much else going for it. Love the art though!
>Deoxys< Early draw power and a decent attack against psychic-weak Pokemon.
>Absol< Its a weird ability, but could possibly do some tricks
>Jirachi< Dragalge poison lock and destructive wish. Ok searching move too.
>Primal Togekiss< Amazing fairy energy accelerator that can work turn one w/Wally.
>Dragonite< Great Ex/M-Ex support, at least with the same type.
>Primal Dragonite< I hate the ground! Plus-supported heavy impact with muscle band for 170, powered with a quick setup thanks to double dragon energy and his first move makes him a great primal stage 2 with 160hp. M-Manectric's Turbo bolts could also speed up the process.
>Salamence< Another three-move Pokemon! Lots of variety. Fire for 60 isn't bad + stadium discard. Power Howel is amazing unless your opponent is struggling. Steam blast for the 1hko power.
>Reshiram< Turboblaze is great dragon acceleration, plus Hydreigon's free retreat alongside an arena.
>Primal Altaria< My Manectrics are growling.
>Unfezant< Turbulence... it's last ditch, but it would be hilarious, especially on decks that require tonnes of setup!

>Thunderus Ex< All power, not much strategy to him.
>Gallade Ex< I freaked when I saw the roaring skies pack with his mega on it. His art for his regular Ex is better than his Fa Imo. Speed jab is good setup for his mega, and side slasher is a great early game hitter. Supported by dimensional valley as well.
>M-Gallade Ex< The full art is my number one on my to-get list! Mudou blade with some bench hitting support Pokemon could make this move a real threat. Free retreat with a mystery energy!
>Latios Ex< Very interesting first move that can gain an early lead or even win. Light pulse isn't terrible but it costs a little much. I guess we get high costs with the double dragon energy. With Latios' design I would expect a retreat cost of one at most.
>M-Latios Ex< Sonic ace could be devastating but at the same time it's prone to too much energy loss. Nothing is weak to dragon anymore, so the wide lens is useless for it.
>Hydreigon Ex< Dragon Road will provide some excellent support for the dragon class, though thats all he's got going. Shred is considerably mediocre for an Ex. Its nice for taking down Suicune and Sigilyth with a muscle band.
>Rayquaza Ex< Rising burn is great for dealing early damage to Ex leads. Dragon pulse can deal some decent damage with little drawback.
>Rayquaza Ex (Deck ver.)< Dragon strike is nice, but it's got nothing too special going for it.
>M-Rayquaza Ex< That new stadium is quite unstable without a ninetales in play, but this mega hits hard, fast. It could easily be set up on turn one.
>M-Rayquaza Ex (Deck ver.)< I was surprised to see another 1hko machine, but this one is especially viable alongside Reshiram, Mega Turbo and DDE compared to Mega Charizards hefty drawbacks.
>Shaymin Ex< Fantastic support card, even if it's been repeated. Excellent synergy with setting up colourless M-Rayquaza.

>Winona< Great boost for colourless types. Playable colourless may still be limited, but certainly a staple for those decks. Her full art is so freaking dramatic. I love the angle.
>Wally< Fantastic way to get early evolutions in play. Getting a quick Togekiss up is great for fairy decks and viable with Wally's help. It's all I've wanted from and evosoda and better.

>Revive< Its usable, but not a staple.
>Mega Turbo< This will be amazing for getting any sort of mega running quickly. With a lack of energy acceleration in fighting decks, I've ran into problems setting up my M-Lucario Ex when I need him. This could easily help.
>Trainer's Post< Nice way to recover from a bad hand.
>Wide Angle Lens< I can't see this being too useful. If M-Latios Ex wasn't a dragon, this would be useful too him.
>Spirit Links< Helpful as always
>Skyfield< Highly unstable, but opens up lots of options for some fun decks. Ninetales sold separately.
>Gold Item Cards< I'm impressed by the Vs Seeker, it's going to go for a lot.

Overall I'm impressed with some cards, and mildly disappointed by others. Dragon and Colourless have finally got a chance to shine. Mega's get another great addition with the Turbo energy. Unfortunately, anything outside of dragon, colourless, and psychic didn't get much. Fairy has a(nother) nice energy tech now though.

Decks I'm looking forward too >

M-Gallade Ex/Gengar Ex
Dragonite/M-Manectric Ex
M-Rayquaza Ex/Reshiram
M-Rayquaza Ex/Altaria/Shaymin Ex
Togekiss/M-Gardevoir Ex
Dragalge/Jirachi
Dustox/Beautifly

Thanks for reading if you bared through it all. I just had an urge to write a lengthy musing on it all. Why not post it here.

Edit- Added Unfezant

I'm finding it interesting how decks are getting a huge variety of techs to play with now. Aromatisse now can run Xerneas or Togekiss nicely depending on the focus, for an example.

This set is ridiculous... Some of the card choices are stupid beyond measure... Most of the cards are meh in either playability or artwork (sometimes, both). Why another Talonflame, Gliscor, Manectric, Thundurus (I don't care if it's the Incarnate)? Why no Moltres? Why no Noibat/Noivern (they fit perfectly in this set)? And seriously, why no Zinnia??? And once again, they continue the trend of having one of a duo (or trio) with an ancient trait while the other(s) gets nothing... Most Ancient Trait cards don't get much advantage from their trait, with the exception of a few cards.

Still, there are some cards I liked because of the concept, creativity or simply power, namely:
Exeggutor - anti-bird ideia is hillarious.
Ninjask - Putting Ninjasks as basics is funny.
Shedinja - can do 100 damage for 1... and then die.
Banette - stopping Tools is useful...
M-Gallade - seems solid.
Salamence - Versatile and high power. 60 for one is good, discards Stadiums, the 2nd attack takes advantage of the opponent and the final attack is a 1HKO on so many things, it's awesome. My favorite.
M-Rayquaza (Colorless) - There are so many stadiums that I don't know if it will be effective in practice, but it's good in theory.
M-Rayquaza (Dragon) - Looks awesome and I like the 300 damage. It has some considerable support but I think it's more of a fun deck...
Unfezant - Interesting effect if you're willing to power it up...
Wide Lens is cool, whether or not it will see use...
Wally - 2nd favorite card. Stage 2 support is always welcomed.
Double Dragon Energy - Best thing ever to Dragons.

PS: the regular Rayquaza full-art is better than all the previous ones.

I personally don't find any advantage that the Bats might have over Foretress besides attacking in a Gallade deck. With Foretress you can actually put counters on EVERYTHING, giving at the end 120 to the Active and 40 to each Benched. It's a powerful combo that I'm willing to try out as soon as I get decent proxies. :p

Are these likely going to be part of the English set?

I think so. I could see this one being in the set as well:

I just had a thought!!....if xy7 is going to be based around the new movie , and the new movie is full of legendaries , then there is a very good chance that we could finally get a suicune ex! And since we didn't see mega latias in emerald break then maybe she will be im xy7??
Kind of just got really excited for this next set lol

If you want to go the bare minimum, then yeah use Forretress. It's a good way to ensure that you will always be doing damage to the bench regardless of how many Pokemon your opponent has in play. The advantages of Crobat are being able to attack easily (a small bonus, but a bonus nonetheless) and being able to stack more damage over time.

Alot of interesting cards in the set. With only 90 something cards in the set it will likley have pretty decent pull rates.

Wally is an intersting card I think it will help make stage 1 and 2's more playable in the format. The thought of a turn one pyroar is kinda scary as well.

Its basically evosoda but cna be use on your first turn.

i was hoping there would be something here which completely ruins seismitoad too but sadly not D: (cmon, where's the easily teched 1 (C) energy 180hp grass type ex that deals 20dmg + 30 to EXs??)

looking at this set as a whole im still very excited! mega turbo being a dark patch for any mega is pretty awesome- it could push some of the megas with borderline too expensive energy costs into viablity, like mega blastoise ex (who also got archie support, dive ball, manaphy) or maybe mega gengar ex who can power up in 1 turn with d.valley and mega turbo.

im also excited about the new delta plus pokemon, love the art for dustox even if it isnt really strong! natu is a powerful addition to any psychic deck and with some help from something like milotic i think articuno could be a real force- also helps to make the prize loss from milotic seem a lot more worth it. (milotic/bats/articuno perhaps?) also, ff milotic could be a lot better with wally now that it doesnt have to spend a turn as a 30hp feebas

im interested to see if anyone can make the dragons work despite their awkwardness and mega gardevoir being such a bully (and not just with a mega latios/bats deck :p)

i think forretress actually deals more dmg than the bats starting from 2 benched mons-

a crobat + golbat evo does 50 total dmg- if that happened to 2 different benched pokemon in a turn (maximizing the spread dmg for mgallades attack), then that + mega gallade's attack would deal 110 + 20 + 30 + 30 + 30 = 220hp

two forretress evos with 2 benched pokemon would deal 110 + 30 + 30 + 30 + 30 = 230hp

so unless they only have 1 benched pokemon, forretress is a more damaging option unless i miscalculated. if they have 5 benched pokemon and 1 forretress evolution, its 110 + 60 + 150 = 320hp so the damage can really ramp up too. m gallade EX really seems like the dark horse of this expansion and i wanna see how far it can go with such a cheap and potentially powerful attack!

i am super hyped about mgallade and mrayquaza, im playing a gengar deck atm so gallade might just be a cool straight swap/upgrade.

imo bats are better than forretress simply because they're psychic so it has built-in synergy with psychic support cool things (dimensional valley = free attacks =D) and they have no retreat costs!

I don't understand all the hate for Ninjask. It's still broken as heck. You'll be running Exeggcute with it anyway, so slap in 2 Exeggutor's to take care of Trumpy!

Articuno searching for 3 Water makes Blastoise a tiny bit stronger. I don't know why everyone overlooked that when this set started leaking.

How in heck did they make Tropius, Pelipper, Fearow, and Electrode this bad?!? I know every set has junk cards, but THIS is garbage.

Deoxys looks like a promising starter card. It seems like next format's going to be a lot kinder to setup cards because Landorus-EX will be gone and so will N. Considering that, Plusle and Manaphy will instantly get better.

Weakness aside, Mega Gallade is crazy good. With Forretress, Dimension Valley, and Weakness Policy, you can do no wrong.

Jirachi looks like it had its artwork ripped right out of the Anime. Maybe it's just me.

Somehow, Dunsparce made it into this set. Even worse is the fact that it has zero use in any deck.

Did they HAVE to reprint Revive? Why couldn't they have reprinted a card that has more viability, like Pokedex to combo with Ether?

Somehow, they made Victini worse than the one from BCR. That's sad.
