I really hope they don't destroy Facebook. It's the only way I can keep in touch with my best friend.

:/ I really doubt that.
/me list a bunch of things like email, mail, IRL, Skype, phones, ect.

It doesn't effect me either way, so I really don't care what happens

I hope they do it. Then my stupid friends will stop begging me to get it and get on with their lives. Which they won't.

People will just move onto another social networking site.

I have a facebook type of thing set up on my site. It doesn't use any info from the real facebook. It has some forum stats from the site and then updates can get posted and such. I don't use FB a whole lot anyway.

I've got two sides to this.

1. Maybe Facebook going down would get more people to actually keep in physical contact with each other. Or at least phone calls. Then again, without Facebook, we wouldn't see so much of the idiocy going on with the average American (note that I said average, so don't get butthurt). Then AGAIN, I don't have a Facebook, so anybody out there who has one, please, feel free to PM me telling me why I should get one and what advantages it has over things we use in everyday life.

2. My mom has a Facebook, so if this truly does happen and the information gets leaked out...well, I honestly don't see what can happen. It's not like our credit card information is on there or anything. And if anything does happen to us which disrupts our privacy, then big deal, nothing on the internet is private anyway. Though it's already been said, if you put private information online in a situation such as this, then you, frankly, should have thought more than twice (if you did think twice, that is). And if it does get shut down, we just move to Google+.

Facebook going down honestly isn't that big of a deal. I won't be physically be able to change anybody's opinions on what Facebook's uses are and why I personally think it's not exactly the most useful thing in the world, but you just move on to something else if it gets shut down.

If this happens, I will be excited. I hate Facebook a lot, it has brought me to crisis. Literally!

Next Mission: Myspace :p

Actually, it appears only a few members of Anonymous are involved with this plot to take down Facebook. The leaders of the group have denied having anything to do with this operation.

The only problem with that is that Anonymous DOESN'T have any leaders. :p It's an anarchy. I do find it weird that they announced it THIS early, however. They always announce their attacks, but this one is months ahead which usually doesn't happen. I'm not sure exactly what will happen, as nobody does, but I'm sure SOMETHING will happen. It could just be FB shutting down for a short time, if not many Anons are in this then I don't think it will be that successful.

Well, it isn't really secret, its just that the members are secret. I don't believe that they actually have a true leader though, as that would lead to needing to be recognised and frankly, thats just not something you want to be when you're launching an attack at one of the most succesful websites in the world.

I think Facebook has done more harm than good. I especially think the creator of Facebook is a scary person with the wrong mindset to have this kind of influence on such a large scale.
I wouldn't mind Anonymous with this one. We're better off without Facebook.

Nice avatar. Touhou =D
Also, telling people to not be butthurt on Pokebeach is kind of a total oxymoron. Just saying.

Honestly, I hope facebook gets shut down. I have my own page on it but I'd still be fine with it getting shut down.
As for others who DON'T want it shut down I'll say I'd feel sorry if it got shut down and it depressed them.
I don't think they will actually try to shut it down but if they do, WOOHOO!

This is where I believe you're wrong. Before Facebook, my father's side of the family, we'd get together maybe once every 4-5 years. Family grew apart greatly after my Grandmother passed away, and then almost completely apart after my Great Grandfather passed away. Seems like the only time we get together is when there is a death in the family now. Facebook has helped the youngest generation, Me, my sisters and cousins all reconnect.

Then when it comes to playing pokemon you end up meeting interesting and cool people all the time at tournaments, and if its a big tournament, odds are you aren't gonna see them often. So facebook helps you stay in touch with those people.

Facebook may be one of the most useful resources out there on the internet for reaching out to people and staying connected.

Are you guys honestly hoping that facebook gets closed down, when this entails that there is a society out there capable of hacking pretty much any website they feel like, capable of stealing your personal information, capable of destroying websites you know and love

really

reallyyy

ok!!!

not that FB is actually going to close down because of this but still

The people that said that Facebook should be shut down probably haven't used Facebook at all. You could be part of the small percentage that used it and still didn't like it though.

Governments been hacked, Google has been hacked, and even Microsoft. FB getting hacked, even after a given declaration, would not be much of a surprise.

I agree with Zyflair! A student hacked Facebook so couldn't a well-abled group do even more harm?

Here is the link: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/08/student-hacker-penetrated-facebook/

I'm so happy. I have two enemies, apple and facebook. Both for doing evil things. I actually agree with anonymous for hacking/destroying it.

But they haven't destroyed FB yet. ._.

How do they do "evil things"? Please describe these "evil things".
