They can have any kind of look this time around. The bug one will be more flexible than the grass starter comp.
I figured that with the current system, it's largely a contest based on how good your art is. This is a problem because somebody may be good at art and thus win the contest, but might give their work bad names and dex entries. So, to make up for that and also to get as many people involved as possible, we will do seperate votes for Pokedex entries, Names, and other stuff. This is a rough timetable of what I have planned.
Weeks 1-3
A theme is given, people submit art based on the theme for Fakemon 1.
Week 4 (we are here)
People vote on the winning piece of art for Fakemon 1.
Weeks 5-8
People submit their own ideas for the names and pokedex entries for Fakemon 1. Meanwhile, the art submissions for Fakemon 2 are posted.
Week 9
People vote for the winning name and entry for Fakemon 1. People vote for the best art of Fakemon 2.
Etc etc etc...
So it takes two months to build ourselves a Fakemon line. Building seperate Fakemon lines overlap monthly. Submission periods always occur in chunks of three weeks, with a voting period of 1 week always following afterwards.
I will explain this better when the time comes (which is not long now!), but hopefully this gives you a rough idea of what I have planned. This involves a lot of seperate threads, so if this project is sucessful then we might have to make a sub-forum for it.
