RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 9

I vote to promote Athena to Grandmaster.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 9

Yeah... I'd much rather see Athena as a Grandmaster than reclassing into another base unit.

What if I vote to promote Athena to Grandmaster now? :v

Since it's not finalized, it'll go to tie-breaker... or at least if would if GM Athena didn't get a third vote, so GM Athena is now in the lead! Of course, if Mage Athena gets more points before I start the next chapter, then it'll flop back over again. THE SUSPENSE.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 8

Paralogues 2 & 3: Aaahh! Real Bandits!

At CJ's insistence, we hurried away from the execution site and followed a hidden path through the lines of the Plegian fighters. Our goal was to make it through the country in secret to meet up with the Feroxi supply chain, and we all donned disguises. In CJ's costume trunk, I managed to find a really sweet coat, even cooler than the one I had now and with shiny gold parts, so I decided to swap it into my wardrobe permanently. Nice!

Athena evolved into Grandmaster!

Of course, even though we were on the run, we often chatted with each other and swapped stories. It's not like we're in the middle of a war and some terrible thing just happened and we're fleeing for our lives or anything.

<Drac> Athena, you are feeling not so good, yes?
<Athena> My throat's a bit parched; probably from all the sand.
<Drac> Here! Drink Drac's homemade special mystery drink of strength! Has no date-sexing drugs, promise.
<Athena> Sure, why not? I always drink stuff mysterious mercenaries hand me without explanation.
<Celever> Hey Drac!!
<Drac> Hullo little dragon friend!
<Celever> Do you like the special shirt I made you? ^_^
<Drac> Yes, is excellence! But shirt is made from your skin, no? You stay by Drac so he can protect you until you grow scales back.
<Celever> Yay! We'll be best of friends! :D
...
<Light> Drac's question reminds me, Cinesra, have you been feeling okay? You seem to be flagging in energy lately and not your usual lively self.
<Cinesra> Oh, my dear lady, I am simply agonizing over your doubt of me, wondering if I can ever prove my worth to you. Depression simply destroys my appetite, I'm afraid.
<Light> Oh, gracious, I never meant to upset you so much! The fact that you spend so much mental energy wondering about your own worthiness is surely proof enough of your sincerity. Please, let me make you some tea.
<Cinesra> Thank you, my good lady. *bows*
...
<Palutena> Psst, TT.
<TT> Yeah, 'sup?
<Palutena> You're a thief, right?
<TT> Indeed. Have a little job you need done?
<Palutena> I want you to bring me a strand of Athena's hair.
<TT> That's... unbelievably creepy. What do you need her hair for?
<Palutena> Hee hee...
<TT> Um, yeah. I don't usually take sinister chuckles as an answer. Sorry, Sunshine.
<Palutena> This is not a negotiable request.
<TT> What are you gonna do, curse me?
<Palutena> Yes.
<TT> Alright, do your worst.

GM DracLord and Athena attained support level C! GM DracLord and Celever attained support level B! Cinesra and Professor Light attained support level A! TwistedTurtwig and Professor Palutena attained support level C!

As we were making our way through the Plegian countryside, we happened to find a supply route and village that were being set upon by bandits. These weren't just Plegian solders pretending to be bandits, but actual, real bandits this time. After all, why would the Plegians plunder their own villages? There was a red-haired merchant woman that was fighting some of the bandits off, and even though we were in a hurry, Drohn decided we should stop and help the village. TT and Palutena headed north to assist the merchant woman in defending the village, while Drac and Drohn headed around to take care of the leader. Once the bandits were all defeated, the woman introduced herself as Anna the Secret Seller, then went off on her way to join up with the rest of her caravan.

Before we were much further on the trail, we came across a small group of villagers whose village had been destroyed by a group of Risen. Remembering the village we had just saved from bandits recently, we decided to help escort the villagers there to safety. Most of us traveled with the villagers to keep them safe from the encroaching Risen, while Celever and Drac circled around to see if there was anything of interest left in the village and hunt out the Risen leader. We managed to escort all 3 villagers to safety, and they gave us some stuff in thanks. Like a log. Thanks, villagers, no, really, that log means a lot to us.

Back on the trail, Camo and CJ gave us dirty looks.

<Camo> Look, are you guys done with the sidequests now? We need to get back to the plot!
<Drohn> Yeah, we're ready, let's go.

Cinesra -> Bow Knight
Drac -> Hero

Class Changes:
Drohn -> Cavalier
Drac -> Barbarian

Paralogues: Still accepting votes on when do do Paralogue 4. If no preference is noted, I'll probably wait until after Keeper, since he'll need the leveling a lot more than PMJ. Please vote for your choice(s)!

DLC, Wireless Menu, & Shopping: Current Gold: 8,325
Anna Merchants: One with some irons and one with some steels. :|

Along these lines, I'd like to gather opinions on Nowi's weapon. I can at any point summon Tiki's SpotPass team to buy Dragonstone+s for Nowi to use, which is a pretty common strategy in Luna/Luna+, but kinda overkill in this mode. Should I buy them for her? Not buy them at all? Wait until a specific time to buy the, such as post-11 or Valm? Are we just going to reclass her so it doesn't matter? Feel free to share your opinions. NOTE: Regular Dragonstones are purchasable after C13. Dragonstone+s are not available to purchase regularly until right before Endgame. However, both drop from enemies, a regular Stone in C11 and I think you get 1 or 2 +s during the Valm arc.

Player Notes:

Got a Roy's Blade and a Glass Axe from today's barracks; thanks goes to Sully and Libra, respectively.

There's not really much plot to these 2 Paralogues, and I didn't want to take things too far off course, so I just kind of blended them into one. Originally I wasn't going to include the Support convos in this chapter because the group is in the middle of fleeing for their lives, so they're not really going to have much time for personal conversations... but then I realized that they really shouldn't have any time for killing bandits/Risen either, so I just included them because honestly it's not really all that much more ridiculous.

And, yes, over half of Palutena/TT's conversation is copied word-for-word from the actual Support convo. It's ridiculous enough as it is without me needing to twist it.

The chapters themselves went really easily. P2 was pretty under-leveled for everyone, even Palutena, so it went by quickly. I did have to restart P3 once because all of the villagers died; I wanted to save at least one to get the Angelic Robe. In the redo, I didn't pair people up as much and sent almost everyone to the left to take care of the PKs ASAP. This level is much harder if you don't have your own flyers. Celever and Drac handled all of the top-level risen and also the boss on their own; much prides.

Not much else of note. We're all out of Master Seals for now, but we'll be getting one next level and another one next next level, so you're still welcome to suggest for both Promotions and Reclasses, just note that any promotions will be waiting for a bit still.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 9

I second both of the suggestions for Cinesra -> Bow Knight and Drac -> Hero.

Also, I'd like to suggest Chrom -> Great Lord.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 9

I'll go ahead and keep track of those, though it'll be a bit before we can do 2, let alone 3, promotions. Just in case there are no further votes, do you have a preference for the first MS for either Cinesra or Drac?

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 9

Does that mean you're seconding GL Drohn? Because otherwise that only has one vote for now. :p

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 9

Uhh... Yes, Athena.
Yes it does.

Palutena, at least vote Sage. Sheesh. >.>

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 9

Keeper of Night said:
Palutena, at least vote Sage. Sheesh. >.>
But Magic+2 is so important!

And I'd just really like to see someone complete this game with first tier units. I mean this game is really easy so it should be pretty easy.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 9

Using Base Classes only for the game would be pretty hilarious. I don't think it would be all that difficult in Normal mode; the biggest problem would probably be taking down the final boss because of its damage reduction and your limited stat caps. Would Taguel/Manakete be allowed? What about Dread Fighter/Bride? DLC skills? I'm also thinking that skills for disallowed classes would also have to be disallowed, though you could of course reclass to different base classes for those skills.

Maybe I'll do that for a lark after I'm done with this run. :p

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 8

Chapter 10: Suddenly everyone likes Vesperia

As we made our way through the Plegian countryside, rain started to fall and quickly became a downpour. Oddly enough, the rain soaking into the sand actually made it easier to run; go figure. We had almost made it to the army encampment, only to run into a band of Plegian soldiers. They may not have been able to find us as we followed CJ's spies secret paths, but they found the caravans easy enough and were waiting for us just outside. We geared up for battle, but surprisingly enough, their captain came forward with an offer of parley.

<Mustafa> Hey guys! Chill out, man, we don't really want to hurt you or anything, so feel free to surrender.
<CJ> Yeah, no thanks.
<Mustafa> Vesperia would not have wished for this to come to bloodshed.
<Drohn> Yeah, well, you probably should have thought more about her feelings before your mad king decided to execute her.
<Mustafa> Look, I understand that you're kind of pissed and all, but a lot of us soldiers heard her final speech and took what she said to heart. If you just put down the sword and come with me, I'll try and make this as peaceful as possible.
<TT> Yeah, well, I hope you'll forgive us for not really trusting you.
<Mustafa> I guess that's fair. Oh well, let's get this over with.

The battlefield was muddy and filled with... some kind of giant bones. We split up into pairs and and fanned out to make our way through the mud and to the encampment as fast as possible. Palutena grabbed TT and took the lead, perhaps looking to prove herself by slaughtering as many of her countrymen as possible. Chrom and I ended up heading forward to take out their leader, though I regretted killing the man, as he was really the first Plegian to want to do anything with us aside from slit our throats.

Once the battle was complete, we were introduced to Olivia, the leader of the caravan that was in charge of getting us home safely. We traveled quickly and stealthily through the rain, and finally back north into Ferox where we could relax and regroup.

<Athena> Well, that was a huge waste of time.
<Light> Oh, poor Vesperia. *sobs*
<Cinesra> There, there, my dear...
<Camo> Welp, I sure picked a good time to go into power.
<Athena> I'm sorry that I was able to save your sister, Drohn. I guess my strategies aren't as good as I thought they were.
<Drohn> It's not your fault; you couldn't have predicted those zombies showing up. I'm still kicking myself over my own failures.
<Athena> So, we both suck. Neither of us is half as good as your sister was, but together we're strong. We just have to stick together and pull through.
<Drohn> Is this going to lead into an emotional, motivation montage?
<Athena> I'm afraid so.
<Celever> You guys are the best! If it weren't for you, I'd still be a slave girl-dragon. ^_^
<Palutena> You gave me your trust, so I decided not to backstab you. That's good, right?
<Cinesra> You have the great courage and charisma necessary to hold such a group together, almost as great as my own!
<Drohn> Wow, that really was inspirational! I think... I think it's time that we do what's needed to be done and tear down that mad King Spoon. You guys with me?
<Light> Of course we are, darling!
<TT> Sure, why not?
<Drac> Drac even work for free!
<Drohn> Alright, let's do this!
<Camo> We're in, too! Take my whole army, even!
<CJ> You can take Olivia along, too. She'll dance for your whole army, if you know what I mean. Camo and I will lead the Feroxi army while you take your group in to take out Gangrel.
<Drohn> WOOOO I'M SO PUMPED RIGHT NOW GUYS. WE GOT THIS!

Anna Merchants: Arms Scroll and Physic available. There WAS an Anna/Risen combo that popped up that had a Master Seal that I was going to do after C10 was done, but it disappeared once I beat the level. -_-;

Player Notes:

Ice Arceus brought me a ladle. Thanks man, I really needed that.

This level kind of took a while because I insisted on feeding most of the exp to PP. I did rush the thieves to make sure I got their stuff before they left the level, but otherwise it was mostly Drohn/Athena and Drac/Celever getting plinked by ranged guys while PP/TT ran around to kill things. Once she hit L17, I started letting Drohn and Drac get more kills, and Drohn ended up taking the boss and ended just shy of Lv. 17 (he's 16.95).

I downplayed most of the Olivia stuff since we're not using her. Also, I was surprised that TT doesn't say anything during the inspirational montage. I had to add a line for him rather than improve what he actually says.

It looks like Hero Drac will get the use of our Master Seal before the next chapter unless anyone else feels like stepping up. Celever is so close to SS/MS territory but not quite there yet. I've been afraid of her stone running out so she's mostly been playing second fiddle to Drac.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Paralgues 2 & 3

Promote Palutena into Sorcerer since a Sorcerer sounds cool ^-^

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 8

Chapter 11: The chapter over 2 years in the making

Our resolve to take out the mad King Spoon was on fire. Camo and CJ immediately went to mobilize their remaining soldiers while Drohn and I worked together to get our own fighters prepared. Drac found himself a sweet arm shield and started practicing with some extra axes lying around.

GM DracLord evolved into Hero!

<Cinesra> Listen, my lady, before we go back to war....
<Light> Yes, darling?
<Cinesra> I wanted to thank you for the wonderful tea you've been brewing for me, it's been most delightful.
<Light> You are certainly welcome! It's rare to find someone with as refined tastes as ours, and I've been enjoying the conversations we have while sitting down to enjoy a pot.
<Cinesra> I was hoping to give you this as a sign of my affections...
<Light> Cinesra... ohmy, this is a ring!
<Cinesra> I told you I wanted to prove myself to you, and in the process, I seem to have fallen madly in love with you.
<Light> But this is perfect, dear! For I have become fond of your as well, and as my parents have no male children, I'm certain they would be delight to adopt you into our family home as their son-in-law and heir.
<Cinesra> You mean we get to go live with your parents? Oh... oh dear.
...
<Palutena> Heya, TT.
<TT> Oh, uh, hey Sunshine. If you're here to try and try to convince me to take your little job again, you can save your breath, I'm not interested.
<Palutena> Nope. Just wanted to ask how you're feeling.
<TT> Well, now that you mention it... I'm actually feeling pretty great! I thought I was just pumped up from the motivational speech, but it's pretty amazing.
<Palutena> That's not right. You're supposed to be cursed. Unless... oh, damn, I think I forgot to add the wyvern saliva. That must explain your increased mood. *sigh*
<TT> Oh, well, in that case, thanks! At least you know it worked, right?
<Palutena> ...
...
<Athena> Celever, what are you doing throwing rocks around? We're about to leave!
<Celever> I'm trying to hit that snake over there, see? *throw*
<Athena> *wince* I can't really support violence against snakes, but if you like, I can teach you some pointers about aiming.
<Celever> Oh, that would be wonderful! :D I keep missing and making dents in the wall.
<Athena> ...

Cinesra and Professor Light attained support level S! TwistedTurtwig and Professor Palutena attained support level B! Athena and Celever attained support level C!

Finally, everyone was ready and we began our final march into Plegia. As we traveled, we received further word from CJ's spies about the state of Plegian affairs. It was good news for us and bad news for King Spoon: his army was in complete disarray. Entire divisions were defecting left and right, all of them moved by Vesperia's final words and sacrifice in the name of peace, proving that her death wasn't in vain. By the time we reached the Plegian border, the only soldiers left to Spoon were those of his personal guard. We met in battle right near the border, in a desolate land. Man, no wonder the Plegians keep attacking Ylisse; their land sucks.

<Spoon> WAHAHAHAHAHA, WELCOME PRINCELING!
<Drohn> Nope, sorry, not talking to you. We've talked enough, now it's time for sword.
<Spoon> Of course you've come to kill me. You're just like I am! Men settle things with violence and blood. Something your precious, dead sister could never understand.
<Drohn> You're right. I'll never be as good as Vesperia was. But I don't really care; I have my friends beside me and they help me to be the best that I can.
<Spoon> Such a joke! Don't call "friends" the people you're using as tools to accomplish your goals.
<Drohn> You know... seeing people as tools is probably at least partially to blame for practically your entire army deserting you.
<Spoon> Oh, don't worry, I still have more than enough soldiers to rip off your head so I can hang it on the wall of my castle next to your beloved sister's!

And then the battle began. I took Celever with me to take out the mages on the left flank while Palutena and TT headed to a fort on the right flank to secure that area. Drohn and the others are headed down the center line, aiming to take out Spoon as quickly as possible. His soldiers rushed us at an almost suicidal rate, but we maintained our strong positions and held the line. Drohn was hoping to take out Spoon with his own sword, but Palutena and TT ended up stealing the kill from him with a nice combo. Once Spoon was dead on the ground, it was just a matter of mopping up the few remaining soldiers, then the battle was done.

<CJ> Heya, Drohn, looks like we're just in time to witness the end of a rout. Nice job!
<Drohn> How's your battle with the Plegians going?
<Camo> Over and done. There weren't all too many still around to begin with, and once word of Spoon's demise was passed among the troops, the remaining soldiers surrendered en masse.
<Drohn> Good. May as do as little killing as we can get along with. I suppose this means the war is over.
<Everyone> Hurray!
<Drohn> Thanks for all your help, Camo, CJ. We couldn't have done this without you. I owe you a fhuge favour.
<Camo> Oh, no need for favours. Just let us raid the Plegian treasury a bit. After all, we've got dead to bury and grieving wives to placate with gold.
<Drohn> A little Plegian gold could be useful to help pay back the Yllissean victims of the Plegian brigands, too.
<Athena> Think we should do anything to help the Plegians recover from the war? After all, they were hurt too.
<Camo, CJ, Drohn> ...
<Camo> Nah.
<CJ> This one's on them.
<Drohn> They'll be able to rebuild on their own. Ylisse did.
<Athena> Alright, fair enough, just asking.

And so the war between Ylisse and Plegia was ended. Camo raided the coffers and both Ferox and Ylisse headed home much richer than they left. Drohn doled out the money to those who were most affected by Plegian's actions and worked with Athena and the others to make everything back to normal again. Except, you know, for the random zombies that kept cropping up occasionally.

Once things were more or less back to normal, there was a coronation for Drohn to become to formal ruler of Ylisse, though he refused to take the title of "Exalt" in honour to his sister. The coronation was followed by a wedding between Drohn and Athena, who were finally free to follow their hearts now that the shadow of war was behind them. D'awwwwww.

THE END

Wait, no, not really. That would be a very short game.

TWO YEARS PASS

Much better.

<IA> Drohn, we have a visitor from Ferox!
<Drohn> Oh, hay Raimi, 'sup?
<Raimi> Greetings, Prince Drohn. I bring word from Camo.
<Drohn> Oh, hey, how is she doing these days?
<Raimi> Not so great, sadly. We've received word of some... potential troubles. She would like you to come visit her up in Ferox soon if you can.
<Drohn> Sure, no problem.
<Athena> A trip to Ferox sounds like fun anyway.
<Drohn> Wait, you'd want to come to? But who will take care of baby Ice Espeon?
<Athena> Eh, she'll be fine. We've got wet nurses. I've always been more comfortable with a sword in my hand than a baby anyway.
<Drohn> Alright, let's go.
...
<Camo> Drohn! Athena! So good to see you.
<Drohn> I'd say the same, but it seems like you're in a bit of a pickle.
<Camo> That's one way to put it... The continent to the west of us across the sea, Valm, has apparently sent warships and is looking to conquer us. Though, we don't know much more.
<CJ> Surprisingly enough, we learned most of what we know from that flamboyant archer you were traveling around with.
<Drohn> Cinesra?
<Cinesra> At your service, milord. *bows*
<PMJ> May I present to you, Duke Cinesra. I am his humble servant, PMJ. We actually hail from Valm, where Virion is the ruler of the territory called Rosanne.
<Cinesra> Dude, PMJ, you're stealing my lines.
<PMJ> Of course I am. If we let you speak, we'd be here forever. So let's let me handle the exposiotion, mkay? ^_^
<Cinesra> ...
<PMJ> Valm is the name of the continent, but also the name of a smaller country within the continent. Its ruler, a man named DNA, declared himself the Conqueror and started taking over the other surrounding countries. Eventually, he starting making his way to Rosanne as well. Lord Cinesra and I worked to make sure our people were safe, then he fled to Ylisse with his tail between his legs, which is how he met up with your small group.
<Cinesra> I'd like to think my flight to safety was a bit more dignified than that, thank you.
<PMJ> I stayed behind to keep an eye on Rosanne throughout the coming invasion, but now it's been fully conquered, along with the rest of the Continent, and now DNA has his sights set on this continent. Not just Ferox, but Ylisse and Plegia and everywhere else, too. The first wave of his warships should start to arrive in just a few days.
<Drohn> Damn, that's rough. I guess we're going to have to start with securing your ports, and fast! Let's do everything we can to stop this invasion before it gets too far.

Paralogues: Still accepting votes on when do do Paralogue 4. If no preference is noted, I'll probably wait until after Keeper, since he'll need the leveling a lot more than PMJ. Please vote for your choice(s)!

DLC, Wireless Menu, & Shopping: Current Gold: 19,445
Anna Merchants: Arms Scroll and Physic available.

No Barracks items. :< I did, however, get a Rift Door from Sparkles at some point, and I did some RNG manipulation to make it spawn a merchant with a Master Seal so we could get another one of those for 2 promotions before the next chapter. I'm kind of hoping PP will be one of them because she's at 19.90 right now. >_> Cinesra and Chrom are currently leading, though. At least we'll be able to buy unlimited master seals after we finish the next chapter.

This battle did not exactly go as planned. I didn't think PP/TT would attract nearly as much attention on that left-side fort as they did, and they ended up drawing almost all the kills this level, which is how PP got so high so fast. Celever and Athena were on the right side and they did pretty well, too, getting Celever into SS territory. She used up almost her entire Dragonstone, but we got a new one as a drop from Spoon, so that's okay.

I kind of forgot that Spoon actually moves forward even if you're not in his range yet. I wanted to let Drohn get the kill, since it's fitting and all, but he wasn't strong/fast enough to get more than 1 hit in at 16, so I thought I'd weaken him up. Cinesra took a shot, and then PP took a shot and Gaius decided to help, so PP got credit for that kill, stealing it from Drohn. Poor Drohn. After I killed Spoon, I dithered for a few rounds waiting for the reinforcements to come from that northwest corner but... they didn't come? Either they came much earlier than I remembered and they just got lost in the swarm of PP killing everything in sight, or they don't spawn in Normal, just Hard/Lunatic. Not sure.

I've always felt kind of miffed that neither Ferox nor Ylisse does anything for Plegia after the war, aside from raiding the coffers anyway. After all, it was this chaotic, post-war environment that got Plegia saddled with a lunatic king in the first place (I actually have a kind of long head-canon for what happened in the war with Chrom's Dad and how Gangrel ended up both in power and completely psycho because that kind of thing is interesting to me, but I won't put it here because it's kind of long). There's no reconstruction, no occupying force, nada. Really, they're just kind of asking for Plegia to fall into some bad shit again.

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 11

PP is definitely that dark character, stealing all the cues :O

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 11

I literally ninja'd the kill right from under Drohn's nose. What a trickster!

RE: Fire Emblem Awakening: PokéBeach Member Edition! Chapter 11

At least you were nice enough to give your psychotic girlfriend the credit for it. :p
