First “Destined Rivals” English Cards Officially Revealed!

What's that on Cynthia's chest? Anyway. Destined Rivals will have some very expensive cards. Too bad the Mewtwo SAR and the Ho-Oh SAR are so tasteless
I still think the Ho-Oh SIR should have been a stylized depiction of Ethan ready to fight Ho-Oh on Bell Tower. This one is just kind of bland.
Eh, we’ve seen ‘em in Japanese so seeing them in other languages isn’t as exciting. I’ll wait for a proper setlist drop before making any decisions.
The only thing that bothers me about them being Gym promos is that the Damp Psyduck/Golduck line will probably be shoved into a promotional product with the Golduck getting the Cosmos holofoil treatment, we haven’t gotten Gym promo added to our main sets in a while.
That was kind expected since it’s a Gym promo, those aren’t usually released until 6 months after their release in Japan and they were only distributed last week. We won’t see this card until September/October at the earliest.

At least the card numbers here match the numbers on the perspective set list on here.

We have gym promos added to our sets all the time, specially the ex and trainer. The regular pokémon cards are usually the ones turned into promos but sometimes they are added to sets (and Destined Rivals is likely to feature Hippopotas/Hippowdon from series 8, along with Rabsca ex and TM Machine).

I'm torn about that Ho-Oh (still). I really wanted a fantastic SIR Ho-Oh, since he's my favorite legendary bird and Lugia always seems to get picked over him for fancy stuff. However, this one is terrible. I'm disappointed about that, but... at least I won't feel the strong urge to get it, since it'll be 12123124 thousand dollars in this current market and I won't care. *Shrug*
It means "I want a divorce" in ItalianLove trying to decipher the cards in different languages. "Explosíon de Lava" is pretty self-explanatory, though.

So I am just an OG collector from the 90s who got back in the game last year, but it seems to me that the pattern for every new set goes as follow:
1) Awww yea! new set coming!!!
2) Speculation on new cards + HypeHypeHYPE!!!
3) Few leaks drop and people start to complain
4) More cards leak and people start acting like this will be the worst set of all time
5) Set finally drops and people buy it up like it is the best set of all time and prices go through the roof
6) Set starts to cool down and the process starts all over again

You forgot "complaining about pull rate" (because they forgot, how pulling in Sun&Moon times was) and "complaining about pulls, when they pull only the standard card value (~1/3 from the paid product price)
This set won't have an enhanced Booster box so we won't be getting a box topper.
