;D I just use google image search for my avys....so I'm legal :p. Really that is a dumb rule that you can't use the mods avy's. Just cause a mod has an awesome avy means that I can't use it? Plus you define a mod by there

When someone else used a mod's avatar, the mods felt that they were copying their avatar. Therefore, they either was warned or got banned.
 
Ya avatars do Identify people and I don't think that you should be able to take someones avatar in general. (I'm new and if I did take someones avatar then I will change it)
 
Yeah, 2 people with the same avvy gets confusing– I usually look at the avvy to see who posted what; it's quicker and easier. Glad to see that rule in place, although I would like no avvy-copying whatsoever.
 
I agree with you Scizorliscious I think that there should not be any avvy coping at all and you should be notified if you have another persons and if you don't change it your avvy will be removed. Just a idea for the rules :p

Yup there should be a rule so no one can use your banner or avvy and if you have one that's already being used you should be notified and if you don't take your avvy/banner it will be token down automatically.
 
..And there should be a certain amount of time you have to change your avatar/banner. Although there might be some confusion if they both selected the same avatar/banner at the same time...

Ya true then they both should not be allowed to get the banner or avvy.

Doesn't that automatically count as art theft (and therefore is against the rules anyway)?

This is a pretty cool change that I didn't notice before. I think it's great that these threads will be given a chance now as opposed to an auto-lock.

That is a bad idea imo. There are idk how many members anymore, but there are a lot of members, and the most common avatars are the one's by xous (SP?). If they are made by the member using them, then it is theft, but a lot of avatars are just pictures off of the internet anyways. Duplicates are sure to happen.

Duplicates are bound to happen. You mods just keep the green going on your names and there should be no prob. OR just have all mod avy's personally made so that they aren't using the Xous ones that EVERYONE uses...sure it takes away there ability to have Xous avy's but it also makes them unique :D. Thus no copying...and if they are copied then youc an act upon the person that copied, so it's not

Mod: "I take the cool Garchomp Xous avy"

Member: "Hmmmm I like Garchomp THANKS XOUS"

Mod: "COPIER BAN"

Member: "D: but....I like Garchomp...."

Have some section in the staff only forum for staff avy's

^ This. I agree with Catutie 100%. I think it is sort of ridiculous that a member could get a warning for using one Xous's avys if someone is already using it. I mean his avys are pretty popular, so yeah...
 
I plan to use one of the avatars myself... but I think I'll just ask Xous before I use that avatar so I don't copy someone else's avatar. Now I plan to not because I've got a LPG-only avatar that no one else can copy. Also, there should be a rule to ask before using a avatar to see if anyone else is using it.
 
^ There isn't a rule for that but if you have read Xous's avy thread he says he would really appericiate it if you asked to use one of his avys but it is not necassary.

Wow I messed up on how I worded that. He actually says to make a post saying which avy you will be using.
