Garbodor / Big Basics

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

I'm currently running 3 mewtwo. 1 terrakion, 1 landorus, and a tornados EX.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Terrakion is good in this deck? I thought that Terrakion was terrible now because of HTL.

Tornadus is great because it resists Landorus. You want it because it's so good in mirror and big basics match, which are amazingly popular right now. I played against 4 at states yesterday. Terrakion simply isn't good anymore because of HTL.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Just because HTL is out doesn't exactly mean Terrakion is bad. Sure it can get OHKO'd but if you save it for late game, and your down in prizes you could N your opponent into no HTL, and OHKO Darkrai, and hit other things hard. And Landy does good against Landy it's a double edged sword.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

No the point is that because Darkrai, the only thing Terrakion ever did well against, now gets its KOs without its attack finishing them off, Terrakion's first attack is useless. The fact that it can get OHKOed is just icing on the cake.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

So, 3 energies isn't much when your opponent has no abilities. + Just catcher Sableye and keep Darkrai Away till you can KO it.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Because Sableye's 1 retreat is so much for them to pay even without Darkrai's ability? And for 3 energy you can use another attacker and do much more.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Tornadus EX - 100
Mewtwo EX - 60-120
Lando EX - 150

I don't see a 180 damage on the board unless yo have Terrakion EX.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Lando does OHKO Darkrai. If you're running HTL, it doesn't even need to discard to do so. And unlike Terrakion, it does something against mons other than Darkrai too.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Ok, so Lando does good too. That's still having to get an HTL in your hand. Terrakion can just OHKO with 3 energies.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Landorus can also OHKO for 3 energy with a single snipe (because it actually does something the first turn or two!) or by discarding energy if it comes to that. Terrakion is just wasted space and a terrible starter.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Terrakion EX accelerates your attackers while doing damage. It is good...

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

We're talking regular Terrakion. I think it's still worth the one of space.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Alright, I said I would put my list in here, so here we go:

Pokémon: 12

3-2 Garbodor (Garbage Collection Trubbish)
3 Mewtwo EX
3 Landorus EX
1 Tornadus EX

Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 37

Dowsing Machine
1 Heavy Ball
4 Hypnotoxic Laser
4 Pokémon Catcher
4 Switch
3 Ultra Ball

3 Bianca
4 N
4 Professor Juniper
2 Skyla

2 Virbank City Gym

3 Eviolite
2 Rescue Scarf

Energy: 11

4 Double Colourless Energy
7 Fighting Energy

The list is potentially short on tools but it never seemed to affect me at all. Dowsing Machine helps on that but I never needed to use it for a tool, probably since so few people were playing Scrapper. Even so, not playing every tool down constantly helps a lot. I'd have also liked another Ultra Ball, but it didn't seem to be a bother. Probably the biggest thing I'd want to play that I haven't got is a Super Rod - whilst I didn't run out of energy in any of my games I came very close, and against a more dedicated Hammer deck than the Darkrai/Laser/Hammer deck I played I'd probably be in big trouble.

Despite this I still did very well with the deck. I will admit that I didn't pick this back up immediately after PLS came out because I didn't see how I was going to put LaserBank in without destroying any hopes of consistency, but when I sat down and just did it it worked really well. I'm sure it could be optimised, but it still has a > 80% win rate so I'm happy with it for now.

... maybe I should put this up in the Deck List Help forum...

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Drop a Mewtwo for a Rod or whatever else you'd want to put in for it.

It's simply not worth it. The deck needs to be able to keep a constant stream of attackers, and have a strong early game. When adding Terrakion, you're lowering the big basic and mirror match, while barely doing anything against an already favorable darkrai matchup. You simply cannot afford to load three energy on a Terrakion, only to see it get KO'd easily.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Oh and another gasp moment... You could like umm, just not use it in a Mirror/Big Basics matchup *GASP* who knew right??

So, why play it? Don't say Darkrai, it's really not good in that matchup. HTL doesn't activate retaliate, so you have to land crush if you want to attack. It can get OHKO'd, and even if it doesn't, Landorus is just much more efficient, especially if it has eviolite. Please, tell me what Terrakion has that Landorus doesn't.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

I love how you all act like every deck plays laserbank.
