Garbodor / Big Basics

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

If I were to play a basic, non EX attacker, it'd be Bouffalant. Because Bouff is incredible in very matchup with Garbodor, unlike Terrakion.

I love how you all act like every deck plays laserbank.
lolwut. I was only talking about garbo, big basics, and darkrai, all of which play HTL, in case you haven't noticed.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

I haven't read the whole thread as of posting this, but for the discussion's sake, I'll post my own decklist here. I have only recently returned to the pokémon TCG, so it might not be fully up-to-date to most meta's, but so far it is doing quite well! Anyways:

Pokémon: (12)

3x Landorus EX
2x Mewtwo EX
2x Tornadus EX
3-2 Garbodor (Garbage Collect)

Trainers: (37)

1x Scramble Switch
4x Juniper
3x Skyla
2x N
2x Bianca
1x Cheren

3x Virbank

3x Eviolite
2x Rescue Scarf

3x Catcher
3x HTLaser
3x Heavy Ball
3x Ultra Ball
3x Switch
1x Super Rod

Energy: (11)

7x Fighting
4x DCE

The deck runs pretty consistent, and can easily get the T1 Hammerhead + Virbank + HTLaser for a massive 90 damage T1! Garbodor only hits the field versus Plasma Steel and Blastoise, and if I think I can manage it, I occasionally shut down Darkrai as well (if even only for a few turns). As Keldeo runs Tropical Beach, (and many other decks running stadiums as well nowadays) Tornadus EX really becomes a big asset to the deck's arsenal (mainly for when landorus isn't an option). Mewtwo goes strong even after so long, even though it lost a bit of it's shine. I personally think this deck is most certainly Tier 1, and will continue to do so for a while!

Just my two cents...! Greetz! :D

Looks pretty good, but I would +1 Catcher, +1 HTL, -2 Heavy Ball and maybe try to fit another skyla in.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Hey guys here's my Garbodor deck
Pokemon (13)
3- Landorus EX
3- Mewtwo EX
2- Bouffalant
3-2 Garbodor (Good Trubbish)
T/S/S (36)
4- N
4- Juniper
3- Cheren
2- Skyla
1- Computer Search
4- Catcher
4- Laser
4- Switch
3- Rescue Scarf
2- EXP share
2- Heavy Ball
2- Ultra Ball
1- Super Rod
Energy (11)
7- Fighting
4- Double Colorless

I'm struggling with the tool line, any suggestions?

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

What is "good Trubbish"? There are 2 good choices...

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

^The one with Garbage Collection. Which other Trubbish are you talking about? I didnt know there was another good one.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

70HP instead of 60HP. Blow Through, double snipe, ... It helps against many early-game cards that you don't want to be donked by.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Why? It should be mostly or all of that, and (maybe) one Garbage Collection. I only play the 70HP ones with fear of donk.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Just sayin'. If you don't start with Landorus-EX. It will give you a (stinky hehe) cushion.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Hi! So I'm kind of a new player and I played garbo at my states this past weekend in Florida. I went 6-2 in Swiss and made top cut. There I unfortunately lost my first round but I was more than happy to cut at my second tournament. I certainly think that Garbo is a tier 1 deck. Personally, I found blastoise and rayeels to be very easy matchups. The ones I played against ran only one tool scrapper or no tool scrapper, which makes those matchups almost a free win. If they play two scrappers it's certainly harder but I still think it's favorable. But anyways here's my list:

Pokemon: 11
3 Landorus EX
3 Mewtwo EX
3-2 Garbodor (Garbage collection trubbish)

Supporters: 13
4 Juniper
3 Cheren
2 Bianca
2 N
2 Skyla

Trainers: 24
4 Catcher
4 Switch
3 Hypnotoxic Lasers
3 Giant Cape
2 Rescue Scarf
2 Ultra Ball
2 Heavy Ball
2 Max Potion
1 Super Rod
1 Computer Search

Energy: 12
4 DCE
8 Fighting

This list ran very well. My deck often supplied me with what I wanted and it is quite consistent. I originally had Tornadus in here, but I removed it because I preferred attacking with Lando and Mewtwo more than with Tornadus. Taking out tornadus also frees space in the deck because you don't have to run stadiums. I think tornadus is a wonderful pokemon to run with garbo, but it just didn't fit me personally. Running garbage collection trubbish never impacted any of my matches. I used it's attack only when I was really desperate, and I lost anyways. Really the most important thing about garbage collection trubbish is it's one retreat cost. That gives you some leeway if it gets catchered or if you want to attempt to use garbage collection.

I like to run heavy supporter lines. Even with this many supporter lines I still get supporter droughts. But I counteract this with spreading a lot of damage early on. Sometimes, even if I can KO a poke with lando's land judgment, I just continue to hammerhead for a turn or two more. I don't want to take prizes too early without spreading around damage. It's vital that you do this. When playing this deck, you will always get garbo catchered to stall, you will always get N'd to useless hands, and you will never seem to have enough switch. You just have to prepare for this. You should have spread enough damage that eventually when they do kill garbo or kill a lando or mewtwo, that you should be able to kill their attacker or KO another one of their big EXs with a catcher.

So I found 4 catcher and 4 switch necessary. I always want to switch and I always want a catcher lol. I only run three lasers. I don't really have the room or need for virbank since I don't run tornadus. 3 HTL works just fine. I just use them as a better versoin of pluspower. It is important to note that when your opponent puts a virbank into play, your lasers obviously become more important. But yeah 3 lasers let abuse the power of lasers without having to fill up your own deck with space for virbank. I found it useful. I ran 3 cape and 2 scarf which is great. As long as you're careful with your tool placements you shouldn't run out of tools. Only have one tool out at a time in the early game. Then when you're sure that they don't have tool scrapper you can place a couple more tools around. It's just important to be cautious with tools is all.

Probably the only thing about this deck that I want to change is super rod. I never once needed it, and instead I'll take it our for another max potion. With rescue scarf I don't need to worry as much about garbo, and I just think that max potion is an amazing card. It really transforms the game and I always was happy to draw into max potion after the first couple turns.

But yeah this deck is great. Except for when it's playing against big basics, for obvious reasons. It's not that bad of a matchup, but tornadus is a pretty good counter to this build. It reduces lando's damage to crap and mewtwo requires quite a few energy before it can start really hammering away at those tornaduses. And if you do that it leaves you open to a mewtwo war.

Great job on your tournament results.

Big Basics (aka LMT, LMG or LMTG - Landorus EX - Mewtwo EX - Tornadus EX) with/without Garbodor is DEFINITELY Tier 1 - State tournament results support this claim without question.

I played LMT at all 3 of the States and made Top 4 at 2 of the State tournaments. After playing my 3rd match at the 3rd State tournament, I'd wish I had played the "G" deck version... Lol.

One notable difference I have in my "G" version (as well as in my LMT version) is that I run Scramble Switch vs. Computer Search. Scramble Switch is absolutely amazing in the deck.

Congrats again on making the Cut.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Scramble Switch is awesome in almost every deck. I really think that it is the second best ace spec

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Better than CS and DM? uhhhhhh. "Every deck"? Sableye/Darkrai would want to run CS...

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

trying out a 3-2/1 of trubbish-gabo/plasma gabo.
anyone ever try out a devolution spray. I seem to get catcher stalled and its almost painful to burn switches. So, garbador is stuck in active. Use spray to make him trubbish for the cheaper retreat. Or if need be use spray to bring garbador back to hand and evolve him(next turn) in the other version. I dunno, maybe its to random of a situation for it to pay off.
