My point being Ash doesnt bother keeping his fully-evolved pokémon around, and chooses to keep them somewhere else.

- Gary has a full team of fully evolved Pokemon and more.

- Ash always has 4 or 5 baby pokemon...

I think that Ash doesn't keep his fully-evolved Pokemon because the writers of the show don't want him too. If he had nothing but super powerful Pokemon, he would probably never lose battles, which would be boring to watch. And he releases Pokemon or leaves them because it makes the show more interesting.

If Gary was the main character of the show instead of Ash, I'm sure that he would have weak Pokemon.
And if Ash was the rival instead of Gary, he would have strong Pokemon.

Gary in all terms does seem like the better trainer. But even with the strong pokemon, the show discredits him even though ash and him are allies, especially in the early anime. Now we have the 2-people-like-him paul who would probably be voted the least liked character of all time, according to loyal young anime watchers. Only one rival has ever been liked by the show's public, and that trainer had a pikachu too. :/

"Pidgeotto: Evolved into Pidgeot by the end of the season." BUT he released him for who knows whatever person reason he had this time :p

He released it so it could watch over the Viridian Forest Pidgey, I find that to be rather noble.

This.

Is it honestly that hard to understand guys?

I don't know. I'd have no problem with Ash never losing battles and having a large amount of pokemon to chose from.

Then you are satisfied with unrealistic characters and Mary-sues. End of story. :|

Seriously though, I believe the show would be better if he would just dominate and would hardly lose. But all this "we can do it" crap and releasing/not evolving pokes makes the show crap.

multiple animes have proven that the main character grows only stronger and stronger. The only one not following this method is Pokémon.

It was first aired in Japan over 10 years ago and Ash is still as crappy as he was in episode one. Have you even noticed he still makes overly obvious mistakes from time to time? It's not THAT hard to remember rock types aren't affected by electric types, yet Ash forgets every time.

And Team Rocket has appeared before Ash & co about a thousand times, and they STILL can't see through their disguises, resulting in Pikachu getting captured by them in some giant machine which they blow up every time. And conveniently, Pikachu flies in Ash's direction, and Team Rocket blasts off again!

I'm sure if Gary messed with Team Rocket even just once, they wouldn't dare return xD.

The reason Ash keeps making rookie mistakes is because new kids watch the show all the time. If Ash played like an ace trainer all the time and never screwed up, we wouldn't get to hear Brock say how awesome of a strategy it is that Bulbasaur's Vine Whip is super effective against Gym Leader's Rock-type and it's sure to do lots of damage.

If Pokemon had any sort of real continuation rather than just "oh yeah I've been to this region before and won these badges," he wouldn't screw up at all, or at the very least he would remember his basic type matchups. Do his opponents ever just space that Fire beats Grass? No. A Trainer of Ash's caliber should not "forget" that Seismic Toss does nothing to Ghost-types, or that Electric attacks do no damage to Ground-types. It's a cop out so kids can watch the anime and learn "oh, okay, just like the games, Grass beats Rock."

Basically instead of telling you what is good against what, it's telling the veiwers to figure it out themselfs.

...Turning the anime into a tutorial for the game...

Now you can see Nintendo is just using the anime as an advertisement for their friggin games! xD

What pisses me off with Ash is that he wants to be the greatest Pokemon master of all yet he releases Pokemon. He fails to catch any of the legendary or rare Pokemon he runs into. If I was in the anime I would have collected all the master balls that Mewtwo made in the first American movie and throw the pokeballs at all the rare and legendaries. He let Lugia, the birds, Celebi and countless others out of his grasp because for reasons that I don't understand. UUGG Gary is a way better rival and trainer then most any other featured in the anime.

If the Legendary Pokémon are captured, the balance of nature goes haywire or whatnot. Ash is smart enough to realize it (maybe because the world was nearly destroyed when Lawrence III tried to capture Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres).

Then explain to me how the one guy in the Battle Frontier season used an Articuno :p

That guy didn't capture Articuno. If I remember correctly, he helped out Articuno once and became friends with it.

Well, i think Gary should totally catch some legendaries, show off in front of his cheerleaders, then tell Ash he's a loser :p

Unfortunatly, he's not like that anymore :(

Unfortunately, everybody would hate him for throwing off the balance of nature if he captured Legendary Pokémon.

Does Gary even have cheerleaders anymore? I can't even remember the last time I saw them. :p
I think they stoped following him when he became a researcher.

I think you are right, about when the cheerleaders went away.
