General T/S/S?

By that logic, every deck, even ones with only 1 type of basic energy, should run Energy Search, because Heavy Ball is to Magnezone as Energy Search is to a single type of basic energy. Even decks with multiple targets for Energy Search (ie 6 Corners) don't run energy search, and you expect decks with only one target for Heavy Ball to run that? I don't think so.

All decks that use energy acceleration shouldn't use it so that they can have an extra energy to discard. All decks without energy acceleration (6 Corners) can't have Energy Search because they need all the energy they have to power up their attacks, so they would have no room to replace one with an Energy Search. In decks other than those, there is absolutely no reason not to play Energy Search, so they should.

I think Heavy Ball actually will be okay to use considering all the new EXs coming out. I mean a lot of them will have a high retreat cost such as Reshiram, Zekrom, Regigigas, etc. It's not flippy like Dual Ball and it doesn't waste your supporter like Collector. Also, you don't have to have another pokemon in your hand as with Communication. So, in that case, I think we will be seeing a lot of Heavy Balls in decks.

Ultra Ball can also work in any deck that isn't just basics (sorry ZPST.) But I think it will especially be good in TyRam/EelZone considering they run off the discard pile.

And I think Energy Search can find its way into any deck as long as you're not running a ton of special energy. Or lock decks of course. I don't know if I would exactly call it a staple, but I do think it is helpful in ZPST (my brother uses it in his and it has helped him get out of a couple of tight spots) at the very least.
