RE: Writer's Lounge

I'm actually incredibly shy and introvertive. Just not on the internet. Appearances can be incredibly deceiving~

RE: Writer's Lounge

Wow, see I'm outgoing, I speak my mind... (Why I can't relate to shy people)

Man, it feels good to write again. This time, I'm gonna beat ZY in that Chapter Race...

So what do you mean when you say that you "roll with it" when you write? >_>
I let the general idea of what I want to write express itself. I choose one possible outcome, then let that lead into other possible ones, and from those I choose another, &c.

RE: Writer's Lounge

what DNA is describing is probably one of the single best ways to write a consistent story: let the plot and characters write themselves.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Aside from DNA posting chapters of Nightmare, who's actively working on a fic? I want to get the critiques out of the way before I try to refocus onto Disbelief.

I'm not actually working on Nightmare. I finished it over a year ago iirc, and its sequel is finished too.
However, I am working on part 3 of the series, and once that is out of the way, I am going to try and redo part 0 so I can actually make it presentable.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I never said you were. I said you were posting chapters of Nightmare, but never specifically said you were working on it.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I'm trying to finish Chapter Six of FT, but am still stuck on a part where I introduce Leyi-geyi and his connection to Arceus in the story's distant past.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I'm trying to focus on a thread for all the stories. It's so much better than just posting one dead thread after another. :D

Aside from that, are keys allowed for a thread? Like so:

Keys said:
Story Keys (All titles will be underlined)
-If a story will be continued with chapters, it will be purple.
-If a story is unlikely to be continued, it will be orange.
-When a story with chapters/sequels is finished, it will be in bold.
-Whereas I'm unsure a story will be continued or a final draft, it will be in italics.
-A story that may be temporary is colored in dark blue.

RE: Writer's Lounge

You can put keys in if you want, but unless the stories are really short (like one-shots), I don't see why you'd put them all into one thread.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I'd honestly rather have the status of the story be written besides the title of said story in parentheses. To be just as honest, you should focus on one story at a time unless there's a good reason otherwise.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I really need to start writing again...I am working on a fanfic for my watchers on DA, and I'm pretty committed to that. Plus I've got the whole thing planned out...
But I'm itching to continue working on White Diamond...I REALLY want to work on it again.

I'm the type of writer that can't really judge if it'll be a one-shot or short stories; Besides, I also love to write whenever I'm bored. :)

He means that if you're going to write a story that will go on for some time, it's better to make it have its own thread.

RE: Writer's Lounge

NEW TOPIC: I just have a quick question. Since this section is a place to put written works, are people allowed to put their article drafts in here?

RE: Writer's Lounge

You mean like articles to put on PB in the future?
No.

The reason is because the Contributors and such work on them in their lair, so they don't go public until it's released.

RE: Writer's Lounge

If it's something for yourself, then it's fine. If it's for the website, then it's not. Articles for PokeBeach are usually kept private until they're ready to post.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Mmm, I'm stumped on part of Feral Twilight that seems off to me. It involves a little bit of violence that may be too intense. My question is that, if I describe one person shooting another dead in cold blood without talking about a lot of gore, would it still fall into the PG-13 range or does it become R rated? I'm just having a hard time making a judgment call before I post the section.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Well in Transformers 3, a robot ripped off the arms and face of another robot, and that was PG-13. It honestly doesn't sound that bad.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Yeah, but robots aren't people. That's why that falls into a gray area.

I'd say PG-13, because generally the distinction between the two is in regards to the degree of violence and gore that's taking place. In this case, a single killing gunshot doesn't draw that much blood; thus it would be PG-13.
