RE: Writer's Lounge

If you wouldn't mind DNA, would you come on PokéBeach chat and help me? One more question: Are prologues also 1000 words?
Prologues need to be 1000 words to be put by itself. If they aren't, you have to put it with chapter 1 (and the sum total needs to be at least 1000 words anyway).

I'm on PB chat every afternoon (except Saturdays) from 2 to 6pm or so, so that's probably a good time to catch me. Forum PMs work as well if you want.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I need good topic for the next haiku/short-poem contest. Any suggestions or requests?

Inflated Pokemon
You should probably do a theme such as Young Years or Dreams.

Or maybe the Unknown. Or Uncertainty. Fear?

Uncertainty will be good. I already used two versions of Fear before. I'll keep the other ideas in mind for next time. Thanks, everyone!

RE: Writer's Lounge

For a while now, I've been struggling to write a dark/horror fic based on the concept of pets coming back to be with their owners after death. Two ideas I've had involve 1.) the animal/Pokemon returning as a type of zombie and 2.) the creature returning as a malevolent ghost (i.e. a wraith). I came up with two Fakemon that incorporate both ideas, Oposombie (a friendly zombie opossum that is basically the equivalent of Raticate) and Obseon (a phantasmal Eeveelution that supposedly became obsessed with haunting its trainer after death). I plan on writing something featuring one of them, but I just don't know if the ideas would be good to work with.

RE: Writer's Lounge

So essentially, you want to have a case where the dead Pokemon comes back from the dead to seek closure with its Trainer, or seek revenge/wrath (in Banette's case, the owners that threw it away need some karma). I personally like the second idea better because it seems like it would have more content to write about, but that's just me.

RE: Writer's Lounge

What kind of viewpoints do you guys prefer? I need a little suggestion on this area because I'm going to start writing up the next chapter of my fic soon. Can you guys give me feedback on this?

RE: Writer's Lounge

As in person viewpoint? Third-person: you can access the minds of everyone. If you want to focus on a particular main character, it turns into limited third. I mix a bit of both.

RE: Writer's Lounge

A combo of third person-limited and first person. That way I don't give out the full plot by telling about everyone's train of thought.

RE: Writer's Lounge

So first person for the majority and third person for the minority? Or do I equalize the use of both?

RE: Writer's Lounge

Hello!

I want to write a story but I am indecisive about wich gender it will be:

Murder Investigation(inspired by Agatha Christie's "Hercule Poirot"

High-Fantasy(inspired by "Lord of the Rings")

Sci-fi(inspired by Transformers/Mtrix)

Any opinions?
I never tried to write any of them...

RE: Writer's Lounge

Well a Lord of the Rings styled story is what I usually prefer.

But at the same time I want to try something new...

RE: Writer's Lounge

You can go with your second favourite or you can combine all three genres you chose.
