RE: Biweekly Haiku Contest

No problem. It's the one place that I can point out typos without mini-modding. :D
Please could you add me to the contestant list, too?

Ditto that last part.

RE: Biweekly Haiku Contest

@POKEVORTEX: Just did, and I encourage pointing out typos here, so have at it whenever you will.

@syneptus: It's fine. Just don't post a lot of them here, otherwise I'll have to warn you for spam since you made your official submission already. Also, traditionally, haikus were strictly about nature. It was only when countries outside of Japan started adopting and adapting them as an art form that non-nature ones emerged (if I recall correctly, there was a term for them to..."Senryu" or something like that).

Something Shiny
I danced in the rain.
Underneath the soft moonlight.
Oh look, a penny!

That haiku is epic. Ha ha, safariblade.

It ends this Wednesday, correct?

Yep, this coming Wednesday. That way people can still enter and still have time to get stuff in. Likewise, this may become a thing I'll have going on every two weeks, depending on how well this one turns out.

RE: Biweekly Haiku Contest

Thus the term "biweekly.". I'm sure it would be popular. I would enter often. You could even have a Pokémon theme.

RE: Biweekly Haiku Contest

Bi-weekly makes it sound like there are two contests a week. That's what the world means.

Bi-monthly would be every other week.

No, you're thinking of semiweekly. The current wording is correct.

It can actually refer to both. That's why it's confusing.

I just looked it up, and you're right. That is confusing, but most people only know it means twice a week, so it'll be okay. It's better than making the title "Haiku Contest that Happens Every Two Weeks," I suppose. But you're right, it is confusing.

RE: Biweekly Haiku Contest

All we need to do is get Apollo to add it to the first post actually. ^_^

RE: Biweekly Haiku Contest

Yeah. Hey Apollo, can you mention in the first post that by biweekly you mean every two weeks and not twice a week. It means both.

RE: Biweekly Haiku Contest

I'll fix it shortly, but most times I ever heard the term used, "biweekly" usually meant every two weeks. Like I was trying to say, this first run is a test of sorts. I'll re-edit the title so it's just Haiku Contest and make a note that it's every two weeks from now on.

RE: Biweekly Haiku Contest

Sounds good. Most people wouldn't have been confused, but some people know both meanings.

It's not a big deal, just it takes me a little bit to edit things since I'm online by phone most of the time now. Making a list for the contest submissions might have to wait a little bit, until I can get on with my computer at wi-fi hotspot anyways. Sorry for a slight inconvenience on that part, but everything else should be fine with this since I've gotten the nitty-gritty issues out of the way.

RE: Haiku Contest (First Run)

I'm going to enter and give this a try.

The first Haiku I've written in 4 years =D

Look at the beaver
Its short, its fat, it looks dumb
But mom, its so cute.

RE: Haiku Contest (First Run)

I would like to enter. :D

EDIT:
as the thick snow falls
i stand outside silently
blizzard clears my mind

RE: Haiku Contest (First Run)

I might as well enter. :D

Haiku and stuff

Where the redwood grows
Bees buzz, birds fly, fish swimming
Perfect place to camp

dmaster out.

RE: Haiku Contest (First Run)

I think I got something, here is my first ever Haiku...

My palms fall, on the tree.
They led me to the adventure.
The woods of the tree.

I am officially going back to 5th grade, I had look up the definition of a Haiku, and then have my siblings help me with the syllable count. I almost failed
