Has the TCG gotten more expensive lately?

I don't know If it's just me or If the Pokemon TCG has become more expensive due to decks needing to run staple cards like Pokemon Catcher which are still like $15-20 a piece and EX's which are about $20+ a piece aside from the Promo EX's. I kinda feel like it's bad for the game...

Most of the good EXs I've seen around $10. I'm talking Terrakion EX, Registeel EX, Shaymin EX, and Ho-Oh EX. The Promos are most likely even lower than that. Catcher has been and will most likely continue to be fairly expensive, but that's to be expected because it was in a bad set and the pull rates were especially low than other Uncommons in that set. Shiny Rayquaza is probably the only thing that is ridiculous, but that will soon be changed drastically in a few weeks.

I don't think it's gotten more expensive lately at all. In fact, with the Promos, the game has never been cheaper IMO. At least lately lol. No more $50/$60 Mewtwo/Darkrai and who knows what Rayquaza EX would have been without the tins...

dmaster out.

I had Darkrai and Mewtwo prices in mind (Before the fall tins). Promo EX's are usually like, 6 bucks, aren't they?

Sure, back in the old ex days, you could build a very good deck for less than 100 dollars. You can still do that nowadays, with Pokémon Catcher being the most expensive card in basically every deck. That will change with future sets as Keldeo-EX, Landorus-EX, etc. are released. But you're not required to use those cards. You can play some very good decks for sub-100 dollars and if you don't want to spend more than that, you don't have to. 'Nuff said.

Sans Catcher, most expensive cards are at most only $5-15. It's so much cheaper now than it has been the past year, with all the $30-70 cards.

Pokemon is an expensive game. Get over it. If it's that much of a problem, go play chess or something.

That's actually incorrect. I remember selling my Holon Transcievers for $10 a pop. Buliding some decks such as LBS would cost you upwards about $300. Also, you guys think that shiny rayquaza is a pain now? Just imagine how we all felt getting our mew*, rayquaza*, latios*, and jolteon* back in ex days. Those were very rare and very expensive. :p Not $80, but still super hard to get

The cost to play during DP era was at an all-time low due to rare cards (X's) not being super good (you'd typically play 1-ofs at most). As a result, most Xs were not super expensive. There were enough TSS to go around, so those were not super expensive. Now that we have chase rares (EXs) and a really good trainer in a really crappy set (Catcher), prices are high, but they aren't really that much higher than in old ex days.

Really though, Pokemon is expensive and it always has been. Last format the good primes were as expensive if not more so than all the EX's right now, save for full art. The trainers this format are more expensive than last, but to be fair, last format was a horrible excuse for a metagame where close to every trainer was cheap due to them being as common as dirt and also not as good as the ones this format.

The Exs are slightly more expensive than most primes when they first came out, but overall I would have to say no.

Both Yanmega and Magnezone have soared over Mewtwo's highest FA point. Lauxray LV. X was also more expensive than Mewtwo, this format's argument is invalid (oh and you should've seen the ex era)

EDIT: Actually, a lot of Primes were a lot more expensive than the BW EXs, they just went down when Nationals was in sight.

I have noticed tins cost more in the stores but i chalk that up to bad economy and inflation ='/

Nobody should buy packs from stores...
I agree, unless you're buying 10+ packs. You'll have wasted 4 bucks and not pulled really anything.
If I was into buying single packs however, I would buy packs from stores way over T & T, eBay, anywhere on the internet.

Packs at my main card shop (even though I don't really buy packs) are $4.15 plus tax. Pretty good, though not the best.
