Has TPCI stopped caring about the way they produce cards?

Do you agree with me on this?

Ive done a bunch so far, some have the yellow spots and some dont... its kinda weird... I'll try the fiberglass cloth though

its due to the "grain of the holo"

i find it easier to work top to bottom on one side, then bottom to top on another.

Wow a lot of people are picking up on this... Quick question, if you shave beyond the yellow border, does it come off? My guess is that it most likely does, so how do you maintain a straight line?

it will come off, and it's a risk you take. Use a steady hand. Maybe if all the BW holos @ nat's and world's are shaved, that they'll give us the holo border..

The question is are these shaved cards legal to use in tournaments?
If not, I hardly see the point beyond collector's items.

And there is a problem with this? Most of us who dislike TPCI's incessant need to carry on WoTC's "use a very bright colour border to attract younger audiences" (which is hilarious because I think they sometimes forget their seniors/masters divisions in the competitions) tact are enjoying the ability to make the prints somewhat more desirable because we are collectors.

As I said a few posts up, they're more than likely 100% illegal because TPCI are extremely strict on things like that.

just shave the 20 cent holos and keep your spiffy reshirams -_-

and it just makes the card look better as viper just said the yellow border is dumb and not very attractive. they took a step in the right direction with the HGSS sets but then they went back for some reason

I've done it to one promo zekrom and a non promo zekrom. Cuz I have 2 full arts and another zekrom.. I swear, he's stalking me :p

and, as far as legality goes, you could make a valid argument for it not being a marked card if the back is mint, and it's only the border that is done, since primes and japanese B/W holos have exposed holo on the edge. Also, be careful with some of the small "specks" left behind. They may just be scratches so keeping at it will just make it worse.

oh, and I've done it to a non ability emboar and a promo tepig as well as the zekroms.

I dunno...I have yet to pull a poor quality card from any Theme Decks or Booster Packs. Maybe you're just buying them from places who don't put care on the products they sell? (like a trashy comic book store)

I don't, though, like how the holos and stuff tend to fold on themselves. Makes me nervous that they'll be considered "marked cards" in a tourny or something lol. *sits on them to keep'em flat*

The "folding" of holos is because of the moisture in the air, there is no way to help it. They aren't considered maked if they aren't too warped

although for some primes and holos i can feel it through the sleeve...its gotten even worse with BW

Hey, you two. I was just stating my opinion; no need to be mouthy about it.
Excuse me for not being a collector and trying to find practical uses for my cards.

And for not flawlessly following this topic for the past 2 pages. Sheesh.

Edit: And, I fear I wasn't being clear enough; I was referring to these two posts.

I'm just saying it looks cool, i wouldn't play i at a tounament, and its not like im doing it to an emboar. I do it to 20 cent holos like Krokodile

If you shave an RH the RH will come off, theres no holo underneath, and the top layer is the RH

not exactly.. Look at holos and RG's, the coloring is different for a reason. Holos are a layer of foil that gets printed on. Where reverse holos have reflective ink printed onto the blank card, then the cardls art gets printed onto plastic (acetate I think) and then gets plaved onto the reflective cardstock. The acetate is clear, which is why it shines through in most spots, but also why the color is off. Think of it kind of like classic cell animation.
