RE: HOS's Card Fakes * 2 Great new water types! 6/12 UPDATED. Rate/Comment*
Found ya, dude! ^-^ And all yer stuff, it looks like.
Since most of the work you've done here is either older, or already commented-on/rated, I won't comment/rate any one piece of work. However, I do want to say that it's been very interesting to see how the level of your work has grown. And I totally recognized the cards you made for the contests on PCM, too, and I can definitely say that you've gotten much better, from when you started. This has been educational, really, since I haven't actually seen your work outside of PCM.
And, I know I said I wouldn't say anything about any specific work, but I totally have to say something about these: I think my favorite set of work you did was for MVX360's last PCM contest (last, since this post's date). Your card elements were all in the right place, from fonts to general component placement. Your technical language was solid (no non-TCG terminology or awkward wording). Your mechanics were creative, but true to TCG cards style/form (if they were to go into production, I don't see that anything would need to be changed at all, and they would've certainly added some new elements to the game). And the entire graphic layout, from card blank to fonts to the card's pic, for all three of those cards (except, perhaps, the Seviper, who was a bit blurry) was pretty crisp. The whole set just looked and felt very real-TCG-ish, but still unique to you. I guess that's one thing that makes or breaks a Pokemon card fake: the balance between the card's uniqueness, compared to TCG cards and other fake cards, and it's alignment with TCG standards. You've become skilled with holding that balance (which is like totally harder to do than some people might think).
So, well done, HoS. ^-^ I look forward to seeing more from you. Perhaps an entire, coordinated set of cards would be good idea, for future projects? I think that would be a real test of your talent--which you most definitely have. And of course, there's always new kinds of Pokemon cards to come up with (Lv.X, Ex, and Star Pokemon are gettin' kinda old now; Legends will go that way, too, eventually). ^_~ Anyway, it was great seein' all your work for the first time. This was kind of a blanket review, but I hope it was helpful, or at least encouraging.
Be seein' ya. Laters! ^_~
